Their $ 11 lunch special for 2 maki rolls, miso and salad is a good deal. It’s when you want other food that I’ve encountered issues. A fried garlic chicken that was beyond garlicky bordering on inedible. Really soggy agedashi tofu. Ordered the chicken katsu(breaded cutlet) lunch special. First time I’ve ever had a soggy cutlet ! The breeding was literally falling off, and the chicken had ligaments in places. I gave up after the second strip. Between not getting katsu sauce for katsu chicken, not being checked on at an empty time, and having off salad that was bad on several leaves I decided I won’t come back. It’s less than good. And when you inform your waitress that your meal was unappetizing and breaded cutlet was soggy(it was visibly so) you would expect something to be done for your bill but she just apologized and gave me my receipt as usual. I’m spoiled, the amazing and always on point Yosaku in Portland, Maine was my regular spot when living there, but this place is definitely overrated

Mmmmm, this place is amazing! I am a sashimi eater and their fish is always super fresh, and they give you super big cuts. They have an awesome variety of rolls as well. Their miso is delicious, and I definitely recommend the spring roll appetizer! It is like a little burrito, so great! Their green tea is my favorite, and the prices are very reasonable for everything, especially considering the quality.

I would’ve given this place no stars if that was an option. After telling our waiter MULTIPLE times that one of our party members has a sever sesame allergy, our waiter appeared to ignore our requests to not put sesame on anything. When we received our food we found sesame seeds on the sushi. After calling the waiter back over, he was unapologetic or remotely phased by the fact that he could’ve killed someone. I definitely wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone, especially if you or anyone you know has a food allergy.

Aweful service. The waiter did not listen to anything our party asked for. Would never go back.

I came here with a group of 7 and we ordered bottles of sake and a large sushi platter. The sake was good, the sushi was great. Our server was very friendly and kept our drinks full the entire time. Overall this is a great place to get sushi.

A friend of mine keeps telling me how great Genki is and how fresh their sushi is, so we decided to go for lunch on our day off. It was about 1:15pm, we had just left our yoga class so it was a little after the usual lunch time. The dining room was not too busy, maybe 6 tables with 2 – 3 patrons at each. We were sat in the middle of the restaurant, in a table for four. We were left with menus and decided on what we are getting. We probably waited about 5 to 10 mins until a waitress came by and dropped off 2 waters. We were just about to order and she started walking away, saying she’ll be right back. We waited for another 15 minutes and still no one came by. My friend called over a waitress and she acknowledged us with her pointer finger, indicated for us to wait as she stroll passed us. By now, most of the tables that had come in after us were being served. We finally got a waitress to take our order and then our soups and salads came out fairly quick afterwards. Unfortunately, the waiting game continues. All we ordered were 2 to 3 maki rolls each so technically it shouldn’t take that long. Again, people that came in after us have finished their meals at this point, and we still have not received our sushi. At 2pm we are still without our food. Just as we were going to grab the host(and I am assuming manager?), our food finally came out. My friend wasn’t lying when she told me Genki is great. The sushi rolls were fresh and delicious. It was the only saving grace for my first time experience. The food can easily get 4 stars from me but the service was what left a bad taste in my mouth. Our water glasses were never filled since we sat down and had to ask the waitress to fill it. We then asked for the bill and the waitress left it on our table. At this point I was still working on my last two pieces of sushi. We figured that since everything else took so long, there was no rush to look at the bill. The funny thing is, the waitress came right back within a minute and grabbed the bill and started walking away. We had to call her back over and tell her we haven’t even looked at it. Overall, food: 4 stars, service: 1 star. I hate to write it off completely because their food was delicious, but service is what makes up the dining experience. Hopefully the next time I go there the service will not be as bad.

Go here a lot. Very fun environment a good selection of food prices are reasonable. Plus they do take out and deliver. They have a good selection of sushi and they also have sushi that is rice-less… highly recommended

If you’re looking for sushi and don’t want to go out, Genki is a great option for sushi. Nothing too inspired, but the cuts are fresh and plentiful, and they do a great job packing it for travel. The miso soup, contrary to other reviews, was a little underwhelming to me, and nigiri was better than the specialty rolls. Tip: nigiri prices are for two pieces and ask for extra soy sauce for delivery orders.

Always have had a great experience with Genki. The sushi never fails to hit the spot. The special rolls they offer are unique and always tasty. Service is quick and friendly and also great to answer questions and ask for suggestions. The prices here are super great, and the quality of the sushi is wonderful as well. I have never had to wait for a table here, but I have gone on off times. If you want good sushi, go here!

Unfortunately I came here again a few nights ago, and although I enjoyed my meal, my boyfriend kept saying that the fish did not taste fresh. I thought he was just being picky, but we both ended up getting sick that night. The food is still great and has a lot of yummy vegetarian choices, but I am a little more skeptical to come back now.

The ambiance is lovely. I have to be in the mood for sushi, its not something I always want to eat. The sushi here is very good and I didn’t find it expensive. They have so many varieties to choose from and everything is fresh. They have nice organic wine as well that was delicious.

This is definitely my go to place for sushi when I’m in town. The plaza is always packed but I’ve never had to wait for a table. Very quiet restaurant as there are only 3 or 4 other parties when I’m here. My favorite appetizer here is the fried gyoza, on the other hand the seafood delight was waaaayyyyy too mayo’d up. The beef negima was a good filler but not something I was too crazy about. My favorite sushi roll is the doomsday roll, although the banana in there was strange yet complemented the other ingredients. I’ve also tried the following rolls and they were all wonderful: triple torch, salmon torch, spicy scallop, spicy king crab, scorpion, and spider rolls. The hostess and waiters here are all friendly but the language barrier is a downfall that makes them come off as rude. Fortunately for me I’m used to this barrier so I though the service is always tolerable. It is disappointing that they rarely seat parties at the sushi bar, they mainly use it to prepare cutlery and place water pitchers on. Overall, this is a great place for a Friday date night or to fuel you up for bar hopping around in the plaza.

This place definitely does not have the best sushi I have ever had, but it has damn good sushi and the best prices I have ever seen. Not sure why the prices are so good, but they are. Easily spent less here than any sushi place. I was hesitant at first, but my fiancé said it was worth it and it was. Can’t remember the rolls we got since it was a couple months ago, but they had a large selection and some different choices compared to most other places. Drinks were also cheap too. Came here before a movie on a Friday night and had no wait. Seems the teeny boppers who frequent Legacy Place on a Friday night prefer the bar scene which works for me.

This was somewhere between the worst sushi I’ve ever had and the worst meal I’ve ever had. The staff were like weird zombies who just stood around most of the time and had the friendliness of a manakin on fire. The sushi tasted like licking the floor of a seafood market. The only thing this place has going for it is location. I’d get a new fish supplier if I were you.

This place was sub-par, I’ve had better sushi. My boyfriend and I stopped by after catching a movie, and since he was craving sushi. I personally wanted Shake Shack! Our waiter was nice, but a little clumsy. He kept spilling our soy sauce dishes every time he bumped into the table. We started with the gyoza(pan-fried pork dumpling), and it reminded me of the one’s I used to buy at the asian grocery store. I was like for real? I could’ve gotten this at home, and not have to pay $ 7 for it. The dumplings were definitely not pan-fried either. We decided to be adventurous and try the tori no karaage(Japanese style fried chicken, battered with ginger and garlic. served with mustard sauce). If that is how Japanese style fried chicken is, I don’t think I ever wanna try KFC in Japan. I’m Vietnamese, and it reminded me of this shrimp paste on a sugarcane, I used to eat as a child. We ordered two rolls of sushi because we weren’t starving. The crazy maki was eh, I’ve had better. Their volcano roll was my favorite, it had great presentation. It made my night. Since it was my turn to pick up the bill, I noticed that soda refills were not free(it would’ve been nice to know). I personally wouldn’t return, it was not my cup of tea. My friends told me they prefer the Genki-Ya in Chinatown better, so maybe I’ll give that a try.

Good. Not great. The service was very good. We were there on a Saturday before the movie, it was ¾ empty. The maki was good, but not inventive or delicate. The sushi was better. We will probably not be back.

I just recently had dinner here, and it didn’t start off good. We showed up and waited for about 5 minutes at the front desk waiting for someone to acknowledge us… We waited because we really wanted sushi, and quite honestly, it was too cold to walk outside and find another place… Anyway, after an employee saw us, we were quickly seated and had water on our table. They took our order quickly and brought the food right away. THEGOOD — I had the sake piña colada — Beef teriyaki and brown rice — The menu has pictures. To me — it’s always great to see how the roll you’re about to eat looks like. THEBAD — I’m allergic to wasabi and I told the waiter from the start. There was wasabi on my plate, and when they noticed, they simply went to slide it off the plate… I asked them to change plates because I was able to see that it didn’t touch any of my rolls. They were okay with that, but it shouldn’t have happened in the first place… Allergies are CRITICAL and it doesn’t matter how many ServSafe diplomas these restaurants put up on their walls, it seems like the person who takes the course is no the person cooking… At this point, I know that almost no restaurant pays attention to the wasabi allergy… so I try to be alert myself. Take my review for whatever’s worth :-)

We stopped by for dinner before going to the movies. Love the restaurant décor and ambiance — intimate yet inviting. Server was prompt to greet and to take our drink order. The menu was mostly pictorial so it was easy to navigate on what to order. We opted on the following: Salmon sashimi x 2 Sashimi and sushi combo Spicy triple maki combo — spicy tuna, spicy salmon and spicy yellowtail The sashimi items were super fresh and great quality. As for the maki rolls — the rice was overly drenched in vinegar — oh what a waste to the fish. Note for next time.
