I absolutely love J. Christopher’s it’s my favorite breakfast go to spot! I recently went last Sunday to top off my birthday weekend… This specific location usually closes at 2:00p.m. and you must pay for parking on weekdays. I’ve had everything on their menu from the fruit cup, grits, oven roasted potatoes, cheese eggs, turkey bacon, biscuits, and English muffins. And I must say I have been nothing but pleased so far. I’m a loyal customer and I enjoy their food! If your ever hear a J. Christopher’s specifically this location check it out!

This morning, I went to J. Christopher’s in Decatur with a party of 10 to celebrate my cousin’s fifteenth birthday. When we arrived at 9:30, the restaurant was less than a third full. However, the hostesses wouldn’t seat us because three members of our party were still on the way. I completely understand wanting to turn over tables on a full day, but most of the tables were free, we were there for a birthday celebration, and it was Christmas Eve. What’s more, three different hostesses seemed almost gleeful in being able to deny us a table. There was no need to make us stand around for fifteen minutes and watch other people eat. This birthday breakfast had been a tradition for the past three years. J. Christopher’s, you can do better.

I went to the location on E Ponce and I must say it was a pleasant surprise. Quaint. perfect location… great service. our waitress Stephanie was attentive and genuine! I got one of their skillets which was packed with flavor and made to order fresh. I love their pepper trio and the potatoes are to die for. U do have to pay for parking being it’s downtown Decatur but that is a small oversight compared to the great experience you will have!

We visited this restaurant on a Friday morning. There were Short wait times and we were welcomed by a friendly staff. The presentation of the food was great… but we found the flavor of our food kinda bland. We ordered the strawberry crêpe, eggs and grits. and also, a strawberry waffle. We will probably give it a second shot in the future just in case that was«a bad day» for the chef.

We usually have a great experience at J Christopher’s but not this time. After waiting for more than 45 minutes, we had burnt coffee, chlorine tasting water, bad fruit(pictured), cold grits and cold toast. The only positive was the grilled skillet breakfast — very tasty and fortunately served warm. It will probably be a while before we head back.

My family was waiting while they cleaned the last available booth. Two people walked in past us to join another table; when they saw the open booth they all started to move over. The head hostess came over with a rude manner and said that we would have to take a table and then walked away. Living in Decatur with so many good food options, we’ve never been treated like that, so we left. I’d recommend Ducks or Sweet Melissa’s for breakfast.

wow… i remember growing up in georgia in the 90s when j christopher was a big deal and i think new to the market(at least it was new to me). i went back recently with my family for a casual weekday brunch and must say the food and atmosphere were both horrible. maybe it is a case of wrong expectations. maybe we just caught it on an off day. who knows but based on my experience(which btw nothing horrible happend and i would guess it is probably normal) i would not ever go back. i had a really hard time even deciding what to order. i finally went with the safest possible option — choc chip pancakes and bacon(reverting back to my middle school aged self). the bacon came out well after my pancakes and was flimsy. reminded me of microwaved bacon from the grocery store. pancakes were ok but exactly what i would make for myself growing up with bisquick. the coffee was diner coffee brewed in mass and seemed lukewarm by end of the pot. the rest of our group had equally poor food from a tiny piece of quiche to a cheese soup that would have been better off served with chips and guac. sorry but never again.

Talk about service with a smile, all 3 coworkers we came in contact with were in good spirits and helpful. I had the Blueberry Crunchcakes and my sister had the BELT. Both were made well and super tasty. My blueberries were plump and plentiful too!

We had the breakfast biscuit sausage sandwich. It was delicious. The biscuit was warm and melts in your mouth.

awful service and blah omelette. The waitress had such a cocky attitude she was rude indignant and definitely not customer service orientated. I wont be back. She has turned me off the place for life. If the food was great then maybe but as it was tasteless and I couldn’t have the food the way it was advertised and the rude waitress found some ridiculous way to defend and justify this nonsense. After all this it was over priced. I paid nearly 30USD for 2 people for a rubbish experience. Very disappointing. When I lived here years ago this place had such a good reputation. Maybe I should have known when the place was almost empty at only 9.30am.

I’m a girl that likes a nice atmosphere… this location does not offer any. Bright lights, very basic décor, with more of a ‘diner’ feel. Service was also average — not bad just nothing special. The food… underwhelming. Again not bad, just kinda tasteless. Honestly, I could have just had waffle house and been better off. I guess I just expected more given the reviews of this place.

Okay atmosphere. Services average good. Parking on the street may challenge but there are some pay parking available. Great location downtown Decatur!

I had a glorious, post-run breakfast here this morning. The San Bernadino omelet was a revelation — avocado, chicken, pico de gallo and cheddar, along with an English muffin and a cup of grits. Mmmmm — very tasty! This place may not look flashy from the outside, but the food is solid and good. I will definitely be returning.

I loves me some breakfast. It almost makes getting out of bed in the morning bearable on a Monday, or early on a weekend. This is the place to go. Giant french toast, generous portions of eggs, and amazing omelets. If you want get your carb or your protein on, here’s your place. So. Freaking. Delicious. Great for families, fast friendly and so very tasty.

My friend suggested this place for breaksfast. I was a little reluctant initially because of the number of starts it had, but I was hungry and she didn’t want to go back to ihop. So, we decided to try something new. I was nicely surprised by this restaurant. We both order to share: maple toast and avocado eggs and they were quite good! Also, the service is amaizing. I would come back here :)

I don’t remember what I used to order all the time from this restaurant when I lived in Atlanta, GA but it left a good enough impression on me to make sure I took my coworkers by for breakfast. One coworker had the shrimp n’ grits. She said it was good but salty. What we didn’t expect was the gravy loaded with sausage and ham to top the entrée. Another coworker had just general sunny side up egg and pancake which she enjoyed. I had the turkey & avocado skillet which I didn’t expect to be as dry as it was with the cheese being in it. I had a side of french toast was very good. I also had a hot chai tea which actually turned out to be lukewarm chai tea, not once, but twice. All in all, the experience was not a bad one.

Hungover and hungry, my husband and I headed towards downtown Decatur for some breakfast. All the usual suspects were pretty crowded by the time we rolled out of bed so I suggested J Christopher, even though the last time we went there I was like there is a reason this place is never busy! We both got a biscuit and gravy special they were having and came to the same conclusion… frozen products warmed up and served to you very bland. The servers were all hanging out towards the back chatting, while we sat with nothing to drink and my husband was waiting on Tabasco sauce to give his food some flavor! We came to an agreement that day, we either get up earlier, suck up the wait or just skip breakfast rather than ever step foot in here again!

Everyone says to skip this place, but it was one of the few places open on Memorial Day so we went. I agree with the previous reviewer: I liked the food, but the prices are way out of proportion for what you get. I ordered a skillet with sunny side up eggs, pico de gallo, sausage, jack cheese, and avocado. It was filling and tasty, but nothing special. The biscuit was a disaster. Service was superb, especially for a holiday. There are so many better breakfast places(Thumbs Up, Fado, Flying Biscuit, even Waffle House) that I’d only come here again if it was a holiday and nobody else was open.

This is my second time at J. Christopher’s. Last time was in the fall and the Pumpkin Pancakes(a seasonal offering) brought us back. However, this time, with no «specialties», we were left to sample from their normal menu, which turned out to be your average, run-of-the-mill breakfast food. The lack luster meals that came out were underwhelming for the«buzz» about J. Christopher’s. I was expecting something on line with The Flying Buscuit, but instead I got a rival to Denny’s. The food wasn’t bad, but it was just there. Nothing special in the way of taste or presentation. I had the Pantry Harvest. When I got the«Legendary» Blueberry Pancakes, I was really let down. It was a cheaply made pancake with what looked like broken up granola bar in it. The other dishes my table mates ate were average as well. Again, nothing bad, but nothing good. Our waitress was a very nice lady, although she felt rushed to me, which was odd since there were only a dozen or so patrons when we were there. The last thing of note here was the price. I went with my family, 2 adults and 3 kids. When I got the bill totaling almost $ 60 I was really surprised. The drinks were expensive and the dishes even more so. I got the feeling they thought they were selling an experience more then food, and both seemed to be a let down for me. I probably will not go back to J. Christopher’s, as I think there are better quality breakfast foods around, at a more reasonable price.
