The Decatur City Council has approved $ 2.5 million to do a major restoration of this historic depot. I hope they get on with it, soon!
I remember our family taking my granny to the train here a few times in the 1960s, as she went to see relatives.
So, I think it’s terrible that this historic building has had to wait 35 years to get fixed up and put back to good use.
Remind me to upgrade my rating once the station is upgraded.

This is not the original site of the train depot. The original depot, during the Civil War, sat down by the river. This depot was built in 1929.
