Good steady food and we have been coming for years… but terrible service when the gen x cousins were left in charge tonight. Huffed when we asked for plates to be cleared. No cheese on my salad and 17 year old waiter argued. Basket of chips were all broken fragments. 16 year old sneered when we asked for a few more. Never even came to collect our check. Better when the adults are home.

The food is solid. The staff is downhome. It’s cheap enough and good enough to warrant 4 stars.

I’ve eaten here twice since my last review. The service is still indifferent, but the food has been pretty decent. It will satiate your Mexican food craving.

I’ve eaten here on several occasions, each time hoping the food and the service would be better, but apart from the strawberry margaritas and the choriqueso, nothing else was good on this last visit. The waiter didn’t bring us water or silverware or napkins, and we had to request each of these items separately. My enchiladas tasted like old moldy shirts or something. I won’t be returning here again even though it’s close. This place should up its game given the culinary magic that is happening less than a mile away in Decatur.

You can order the taco plate but you absolutely cannot specify what type of taco you would like. «The kitchen will get upset» or so I was told. The server asked every 30 seconds if I wanted a special drink or dessert. Nope, just 1 chicken and 1 beef taco. I settled for the chicken taco loco, which apparently was okay with the kitchen but virtually inedible.

Best sketch mex in the area that I currently know of. Great prices all the way around. The salsa with the chips has a really good bite to it, and when used on other things really livens them up. The regular margaritas are meh, so step it up and go texas– those are on point. I usually have the steak tacos. They come with meat in the tortilla and then you add your own onion/cilantro/lime/tomatillo salsa. If i’m really getting nitpicky, it’d be rad if they came pre onioned/pre cilantroed– less work for me to do before it enters my mouth, but I get they’re trying to keep things fresh and crisp tasting as opposed to warm and soggy. The charro beans are fantastic. They’re not vegetarian friendly, but they’re delicious for those of us that aren’t.

I am from texas, love mexican food, and know good stuff when i find it. We stopped in because we are new to the area and live in the neighborhood. This was our first visit. Chips hot and crispy, salsa fresh with some spice, and iced tea was large and delivered fast. All were refilled multiple times without us having to ask. Service was excellent! Both entrees we ordered were flavorful and pretty good. Not the best i ever had, but certainly the first i have had in atlanta(of 5 places tried) that is worthy of repeating. Overall service outstanding(5 stars) and food good(3.5 stars). Try it out, great little local mexican joint. Dont be scared by first appearances.

Best classic beef crunchy tacos! The enchiladas are great too. Solid Mexican food and family owned. The salsa is a little spicy for me but the queso and guacamole are spot on. FYI– Friday nights mariachi starts at about 6. It’s not my thing but the service is fast and food is worth it.

The people here are very nice and the beer is very cold. The food wasn’t great but still enjoyed the visit and will be back. Maybe I just ordered the wrong things.

The food was good but the atmosphere was bad The server was very confused, very inexperience, he just didn’t belong in a restaurant — I almost ate food I didn’t want because he was so confused I ended up having the cheese enchiladas and dos Equis — the food was good, not much flair, just quality Mexican food The restaurant had booths and tables in the middle with buckets to catch the leading water There were a lot of regulars here, so this place must be used to its repeat customers Stop here if you need a Mexican food fix, keep going if you are looking to try a hot New Mexican spot … The bad service isn’t worth the trip

Been coming here on and off for past 2 years, probably 8 – 10 visits with wife, and wife and kids. Normally this resto is solid 3 stars but last two visits our server(no name tag) the short Mexican man with gray hair has been unfriendly to the point of rudeness. The last time(yesterday) it was really bad to the point we had to make it a laughable matter otherwise we would have left in anger. Not only is he very unwelcoming but his service is subpar — train this guy please!

We love it as we love our dog. No matter how shitty our dogs behave we will love them. They just can’t go wrong. I guess this sums it up!

This place is a great neighborhood Mexican restaurant. They have a variety of Mexican dishes and margaritas at a reasonable price. I had the pollo chipotle and it was a great dish. Overall this place is 10 minutes from my house and he great food and drinks at a reasonable price. The service is great and when we went on Friday there is an awesome mariachi band that can play a variety of songs. Very nice guys. 10⁄10 will be a returning customer.

With so many great Mexican restaurants in metro Atlanta, how this place still survives is beyond belief. We’ve tried and tried to find a happy medium here but it’s just impossible. Bland food meets even more bland service, with an unbelievably boring menu. It may be a convenient spot for many in the neighborhood, but anyone who cares about quality and service should do their research. No online menu, one of the most consistent complaints from guests for years, has gone ignored. Seriously? This isn’t 1980 anymore… take 5 minutes and $ 100 and post on one of the 20 online menu sites. Just indicative how little they care about patrons or your business. If you speak Spanish, as I do, just listen to the rude comments by the service staff. Having owned several small retail and service businesses, I take online reviews and customer feedback extremely seriously, and I don’t post negative comments lightly. This won’t change their minds because they won’t read it, respond, or change what they do. But you can vote with your dollars and hope somebody else buys the place and turns it into the restaurant Avondale Estates and Decatur deserves.

It’s been a while since my last Coyote’s visit; I’ve been here a half dozen times or so since they opened. In the beginning, the draw was the margaritas, which drew high praise from at least a couple of Atlanta’s mainstream food & drink reviewers. «Get the frozen margarita and you’ll get a splash of tequila on top of the concoction», they said. And they were right. Inside, the restaurant is one open space with booths along three walls and four-tops scattered in the middle. It’s not high stylin’ but it is quite comfortable, at least the booths are. I’ve never sat elsewhere. They have a street-front patio too. That would be good when the temperature is milder. Speaking of temperature, the inside is comfortable at least in terms of seating … they could stand to crank up the AC a bit. On a hot June late afternoon, it was a bit warm inside. But not too warm to enjoy a meal. I got over it. Eschewing the reviewer’s preference(because I forgot), I ordered a margarita on the rocks, large please. A Texas margarita. Probably should have remembered and gone with the frozen to see if the tequila splash was still the thing here. The rocks margarita was fine if a little weak. I recall pretty much everything I’ve had here has been solid. This time I went with a trio of chicken taco, cheese enchilada and chile relleno. Note that if you order a combo as I did, that’s all you get. No rice & beans. The chicken taco was the weakling here — somewhat bland meat and cheese in a crispy shell. Adding salsa was definitely required. And I like the salsa here. One the other hand, the relleno and enchilada were fine as is, served on a hot plate. Neither is very large, mind you. So if you’re used to the huge portions at some Mexican restaurants, you might want an appetizer or two. I had ordered the guacamole, so with the combo, a full satisfying meal. The guacamole, by the way, is also solid after you add salsa. Service is and always has been great. A server came over to my table within a minute and I had a glass of water, the guacamole and the margarita within two minutes after that. The entrée arrived within ten minutes after ordering and, as I said, on a hot plate. I’ll be back.

I read somewhere down the review list that some jerk said this restaurant wasn’t «life changing». Well I’m here to disagree. I’ve spent a lot of time drinking margaritas around town and these are still the best. Nobody else’s salsa comes close. I’ve become a vegetarian and they have things for me to eat. I can get in and out quickly and everyone is friendly. I love this place! The décor is hideous but who cares? Just eat the food and relax a little.

I’m giving this place an extra star because the service was friendly and patient, and didn’t kick me out when I waited on my friends to arrive(they arrived pretty late after I was seated). They let me eat their chips and sit there with my water, which I appreciated. Overall, pretty decent Mexican food — definitely nothing to complain about! And by the way, the drinks are HUGE.

My husband and I keep saying we’re going to make this our Friday night tradition, but have only made it about every other week. Well, except for this week — we made it in twice. The staff is exceptional. So friendly and attentive. Seriously, the NICEST people. Fajitas: yes. Salsa: yesssss. Margaritas/Margaronas: YESSSSSSSYESYESYES. On Friday nights there is a mariachi band. Those guys are awesome too and they take requests. It’s nothing fancy and kind of small and crowded inside, but don’t let that stop you from having dinner here. YOUWILLNOTREGRETIT(unless you hate delicious food, awesome margaritas, and super nice people; in which case you’re pretty weird.) Eat here.
