So I knew I wanted an Aveda salon, so thanks to Brittany R.‘s review, I decided to book Michelle for some lowlights. Literally these were the only two factors in my decision. If you are like most women, going to a new person is daunting, but Michelle was Awesome! She literally was like a checklist for everything a stylist should be. She was very thorough with making sure she knew what I wanted, was pleasant, and explained to me what she was doing in terms of styling so I could re-create it at home. She has the perfect combo of experience and enthusiasm for her client. I felt the price was extremely fair and I would recommend Michelle to anyone. *As with any Aveda salon, the tea is a nice bonus while you wait for your color to set!

Tried Mystique for the first time today, and will most definitely be returning. I went for the Aveda products and will be returning for the great service. Elise did a great job with my hair, and had great suggestions. The salon was cute and had modern décor, it felt warm and inviting. They only take cash tips, so don’t forget to bring a bit of cash with you. Overall had a great experience at Mystique, I would highly recommend it to my friends.

I had a very enjoyable experience at Mystique Day Spa. I have never used their services until a few days ago. I had the stress package which consisted of a manicure, pedicure, and stress relief massage. The massage was wonderful, very relaxing, and calming. The negative part: The masseuse made me feel like a bad mom for leaving my 3 week old at home for a spa day. She made 2 comments about me being 3 weeks postpartum and not waiting 6 – 8 weeks before getting a massage. I didn’t appreciate the negative comments in the very beginning of my massage. It really put a damper on my first massage experience. I will not be returning to that masseuse. The manicure and pedicure were amazing though. The nail tech did a great job! The negative: they need to update their pedicure chairs. They aren’t very comfortable and look worn.

This was my first experience with the whole Aveda Salon thing. I wanted peek-a-boo red through my naturally dark brown hair along with a weird and wild cut. Terrance did a fantastic job and 6 months later my red has faded of course, but to a beautiful color. The stylists are all knowledgeable and friendly, however the people working the check in counter seem a bit put off.

I love Mystique because I love my stylist. If you get stuck with a terrible stylist, I super apologize! But the ambiance, service, and quality I have been provided warrant a 5 star review but please note this is only a reflection of their hair services. I see Michelle for my cuts and color. She is always busy but will ALWAYS accommodate. There was once a mix up with my appointment and the front desk staff booked me with a different stylist. Once Michelle saw me, she squeezed me into her full schedule with a smile and attentiveness. On another occasion, she allowed me to come in early and literally opened the spa for me. The front desk service is always professional and nice– beware that they will not allow you to leave a tip on your credit card. The only problem I run into! Coming in for appointments, you are directed to a small waiting area with complimentary beverages and bakery treats. This is always a plus when waiting for dye to set in! When stylists wash out your hair they usually offer a hand massage which is always a pleasure!(Again, this may be only my lovely stylist but hey!) I will admit that Mystique could use some perking up and updating but, for the most part it offers a relaxing, Aveda-esque ambiance. Coupled with great customer service and quality services, Mystique is my go-to salon.

I just really wasn’t impressed. The cut and color I received was mediocre. It’s an easy cut, but it only lasted a couple weeks because she didn’t give it the extra shaping it really needs. I also didn’t like that they scheduled another cut during my color processing. I hate that. I’m your client, give me your full attention please. I also thought the not tipping on a card is ridiculous. This is 2013! I did like the ambiance of the salon. There is tea and beverages and cookies while you wait.

I chose to try Mystique Day Spa because it’s the closest one to my house that I know of thus far. You can easily see the building driving up or down Telegraph Rd, but you better be prepared to make a sudden turn into the not-so-noticeable parking lot, or else you’ll drive right past it. The décor and the feel of the building is very cold, especially in the salon side. All the walls are black, very industrial looking, not much decoration, etc. Even the furniture they use for the sitting area feels sterile and cold. Even though there are large windows all along the front of the salon facing Telegraph, it doesn’t help with the feel of the establishment at all. They have made make the spa side of the building more ornate by using marble(or imitation marble), putting up statues, but I honestly don’t think it adds any value or compensates for anything. The hot stone massage I had was very nice and very soothing, the facial was above average, but I wasn’t a big fan of the pedicure at all. No pedicure should chip in a day, but mine did. Since this was the day before my wedding, I did not have time to get it fixed. Oh, well! A salon/spa can look modern and upscale without giving off that cold and standoffish feel, just by using any color other than(an excessive amount of) black. When they fix that, along with their tipping policy, cash only, I’ll go back.

Wonderful pedicure and shellac manicure from Catherine! She takes her time and does a great job. She is accommodating, friendly and professional. I would go back to her for my nails. The spa is large and looks nice. The ‘lobby’ area has no place to sit while your waiting and the counters/display cases seem a bit bare. Inside it was really dark and I think they would benefit from some lighting. The pedicure room is comfortable and quiet.
My problem with the spa was that the owners put a paper at the front desk that reads something like this… We will not allow a tip to be put on a credit card. Cash or check only. Are you kidding me? I basically laughed out loud because typically anyone born after the 80s won’t be carrying a check book around, if they have one at all. Now this was my first time here. I don’t always have cash on me and assume that in the days where some stores take PayPal and payments from my phone surely there is a better way. If you can take the payment via credit/debit card then you can surely take the time to add the tipping option. The owners are just letting their employees get screwed over by implementing this policy. I felt so bad that I didn’t have cash on hand for my girl that I just put her tip in the mail and sent it to her. I’m sorry to Catherine that her bosses have such an archaic policy. Owners of the spa… get a clue because I’m not the first to complain about this. Small inconveniences like this are enough to make me not want to come back.

I just experienced a great day at Mystique with a pedi and mani from Karen. She was meticulous and careful and gave great hand and foot massges. They use all Aveda products and I left feeling spoiled and relaxed. I certainly plan on returning.

Love hate relationship with this spa. Great hair designers, cut and color, nice ambiance(could use an update). I have been going here a couple times a year for about 15 years. 15 years the front desk people need work. They need personality and training and a SMILE. I really dread calling for an appointment, checking In and checking out, therefore I don’t come often and have ahhh strayed to other salons. Their TIPPOLICY isn’t client friendly and they DONOTCARE about their clients preference. This salon is all about the money for the owners, not their staff or their customer and this comes across loud and clear. Their emails/newsletters are amateur and they offer specials that aren’t special. I did have a massage here and it was fantastic. Perfect ambiance and technique. Left the room feeling marvelous, hit the desk and the tension started coming back. Their desk people don’t smile and their tip policy is sad. Ok, I do have to say Levon is superb and the AVEDA products is another reason I keep coming back. That and to see if management has improved. THEY haven’t.
