Not bad for a motel! The beds were actually very comfortable and the rooms were spotless. There are no smoking rooms in the whole motel, so I liked that a lot. The staff was very nice and accommodating here. There is a trolley stop in the same parking lot that can take you to various locations for $ 1. I wasn’t able to ride it but I’m sure that would’ve been fun. The restaurant is AWESOME, you’ve got to try the deep-fried beef tips! They’re glorious. If I were in town again I would probably stay again. I can’t say that the price was great for what I got(payed the price of a 3 star hotel in another city) but it’s a good place to stay, especially if you’re not too picky.

Pleasantly surprised! Just when we thought all the great restaurants on our road trip had disappeared into the east, we got a welcome surprise eating breakfast at this friendly establishment located in the parking lot of the Deadwood Best Western. On the outside it didn’t look like much, but upon entering we quickly realized from the quaint and jovial atmosphere that it was a genuinely friendly and satisfying place to enjoy a meal. My eggs were cooked to perfection and my wife’s pancakes tasted like they were made from scratch. Both meals were perfectly presented in such an sumptuous arrangement that we couldn’t wait to take the first bite(a wonderful ride for our taste buds, I can assure you). I highly recommend this restaurant and will be returning every time I make my way through the Deadwood area. Really appreciated the menu selection, too –and it was all homestyle! Superb food, friendly and casual atmosphere, and wait staff(and manager) were all delightful.

My wife and I were looking for something light to eat for dinner and stumbled upon this place by accident. We split a BLT and had cherry pie a la mode for dessert. The sandwich was simply awesome; thick, thick bacon and fresh lettuce and tomato, it couldn’t have been any tastier. The pie was homemade with a flaky crust and delicious cherries. There was only one waitress on duty and she was a little overworked. It seems there was more business than expected for a Tuesday. However, she was cheerful, courteous and helpful. So we went back for breakfast the next day. More awesomeness. I had the Hickok Breakfast; eggs, sausage, toast, hash browns, coffee. Fresh, well prepared and very tasty! Very friendly waitress/tour guide. Highly recommended. I have posted photos of the menu.

Great place to stay, friendly helpful staff. Wonderful restaurant attached, good food and clean dishes! Nothing worst than a establishment giving you dirty cups, dishes or silver wear(Social Club & Silverado, hum and at their prices too, go figure!). We will stay there again and will recommend. We will not be back at the other two. Cheers to the Best Western Hickok House! Paul B

The breakfast was so good that we ate here every morning. Eggs were done to perfection, the hash browns were crispy and a huge portion, and the bacon was perfect. They also had chile rellenos on the breakfast menu. Since breakfast was available all day, I had them one evening. Delicious! Our best food experience in the entire 6 days in the Black Hills. The staff was extremely friendly. After four days, we felt like we were leaving old friends.

The single queen room was kind of small, but good enough for my purposes. It appeared clean and orderly. The front desk was very helpful and kind. It’s not a ground-breaking kind of hotel, but I’d return if I was in the area again.

By far, Hickhock House is the best place in Deadwood for breakfast. It’s like an old hometown diner. The waitresses are some of the best I’ve ever come across… the food is amazing. We have not had a bad dish there yet. We go there a couple times a month. Everything on the menu is good, but we highly recommend the steak tips, breakfast burrito, chile rellenos… just try something, you’ll love it! They are also open for lunch and supper. We have never had supper there, only lunch.

The best food you can get for the price. The green chili soup is to die for and the Ruben soup is also amazing

You know, people kind of dump all over Best Western, but it’s remarkably consistent. You generally know what you’re getting into. So yeah, it’s funny that this Best Western has a little casino, but aside from that, it’s pretty standard. It’s one of the«outside entrances» BWs, which I do not really like. I like my hotels to have hallways, like a dorm. The room was okay — it was hot and not pre-air conditioned when we went in. It took us a while to realize that the large A/C unit was«decorative,» but we then noticed a smaller unit up above which worked to cool the room down. The bed was large and comfortable, and the pillows were small and comfortable. The room had an unfortunate lack of water pressure, and the TV was like half a mile away, small, and non-HD. The location of this place is one of the best selling points, as it’s right outside downtown, so you don’t have to deal with the noise or commotion that goes along with a 24-hour gambling town. It’s definitely within walking distance, even though they’ll try to get you to use the shuttle for $ 1. If you have two working legs, don’t be a lazy ass. Walk into town. It’ll take 10 friggin minutes. They do not offer a free breakfast, but there’s a Waffle House caliber restaurant attached where you can eat greasy hash browns and slightly dry omelets to your heart’s content. Honestly, I don’t mind paying for a good old fashioned heart attack of a breakfast after so many mornings of awful continental breakfasts, and I appreciated not having to walk far to get there.

One needs to remember that this property is affiliated with the Best Western brand, so ones expectations should align with that. At $ 44.00 a night, it was difficult to complain about the dated décor, however, I would take exception paying more than $ 75.00 a night for this property. On-site laundry facilities are a great benefit as is the free parking. The hotel was not particularly close to the center of town, however, I can’t imagine anyone coming to Deadwood without a car.

This hotel is nice, no pool, there is a small hot tub, the room is nice, bed is comfortable. there are many slot machines, and a restaurant right at the hotel. There are no free Breakfast. We paid $ 116 with our HOG discount for Harley membership. However, it is a little far away from the main street of Deadwood.

This place was pretty dope. Never in my wildest dream i would think there’d be some slot machines at a best western hahahaa. i give this a 5-star cause the lady saved my ass from going to the slammer. She said it was a big thing, drinking outside which i was doing to admire the natural night beauty of south dakota, not so much to be a nuisance… thanks for the refreshing night after a 20 hr drive…

This hotel had a 3 star room and king bed but all the amenities were missing. No fridge, no microwave, no pool, smallest bar of soap seen to date, and no free breakfast. The only plus was free wi-fi. All of the above are available up and down the road.
