Good things come in small packages — and in this case it’s Walther Park! What a beautiful little gem! There is a single little one way black top road that runs through the park, but it’s lined with wonderful old shade trees that just beg for you to stop and enjoy. The park has: — several picnic pavilions — a couple playgrounds — a small walk /bike path — a gorgeous, shallow little creek that you can explore — happy little benches to relax and enjoy the creek and Mother Nature — a soccer field — a baseball field — a basketball court — bathrooms(both permanent and portable) — convenient parking — a lovely gazebo — challenge exercise stations that are ADA accessible — fishing in specified areas — and I saw a couple walking their dog(allowed?) I mean, wow! It’s a small space, but in this case, size doesn’t matter! They have made great use of that little green oasis. If you’re in the area and need a beautiful, relaxing spot — or a place to plan a family outing that has a really laid back vibe, visit Walther Park. I’ll be back to enjoy this gem of a park when I’m visiting family. DeSoto, way to represent in parks and recreation!
