Be aware that if you purchase items from Maui Nix they are very restrictive on their returns and will send you off to the manufacturer to get a refund on faulty equipment. I purchased a GoPro mount from them which failed within a week. I went back in the store with receipt in hand and they would not exchange the unit or refund my purchase. They further indicated that many of their items are considered final purchase items and they will not issue refunds or returns on much of what they sell. Thinking this sounded ludicrous I went to the trouble of calling a different location and they further verified this policy. With this in mind why in the world would I shop for pricey items like GoPro in their store when I can order online and have hassle free returns? Sorry Maui Nix, I have been a paying customer for many years but now that I know this I may buy sunscreen in your store but not much else.

This place is MUCH better that Salty Dog with MUCH more of a selection. I’ve been coming here each year for several years and we look forward to shopping here. My wife loves the cute beach attire as it is right up her ally.

It’s a refreshing change to go into a surf shop where the employees aren’t rude and aloof and act like they’re «much cooler than you.» The staff were super helpful and ready to offer suggestions and opinions. There’s a great selection of shoes and clothes(which is what I was shopping for) and I just scored a shirt for half off from their buy-one-get-one-half-off sale. They’re a little busy because of their location right next to the beachside tourist area, but that’s to be expected and they’re well staffed to handle it.

Don’t keep hopes high about smooth returns(Even next day WITH receipt) Worst shopping experience in my life! I walked in with my wife and 18 month old daughter. I was returning a purchase that my wife did not approve of me making from the night prior. I also had the receipt. Upon walking upto the counter I was greeted by Zach. I let him know that I wanted to make the return of my purchase from the night prior. I a hostile manner he asked«Were you here last night». Well if he was educated enough, the receipt that he had in his hand would have indicated this to him very clearly. Zach then asked my family to wait while he went to over to a co-worker to confirm if he could accept the return/I was confirmed as the drunk guy from the prior night/I was a thief/My religion/my hair color… Nonetheless, we were confused. He came back and advised us that he would be able to accept the entire return except the 2 sale items that were«not returnable». Zach kindly advised that he could give us a store credit for those 2 sale items if we wished. We agreed and let Zach know that we liked a few sandles that they had for our 18 month old daughter. He happily walked us over to the Children’s shoe section, even though we explained to him that we knew exactly where they were located. While we were innocently browsing for our daughters sandles, the so called teenage«Manager» named Zach called the Oceanwalk rent-a-cop to see if I had a trespass warrant issued on me from the night prior.(Yes I was intoxicated the night prior). BUTWOW!!! WOW!!! WOW!!! Zach had one intention, and only one intention. Why else would a store manager want to know if someone was trespassed from their store? Zach wanted me arrested in front of my family. I kept my cool since I had only one objective for being in this Maui Nix store(to make a simple return). 5 min. Later… Low and behold the rental cop came back to the store and advises Zach that I did not have a trespass warrant at the store. **About Me: I own 22 Hotels in the Southeast USA and Mexico*** With my customer service background, I in a excited manner told Zach«You wanted to get me arrested».(Why else would he have called the rental cop???). He immediately exits the counter area and approaches me with the return items and says«You are now trespassed from my store». He calls the rental cop and the Daytona Police Department & Sherriff are called to trespass me from the store. I am told by the Daytona Police Officer that I am trespassed from the entire Daytona Oceanwalk Shoppes. I bow down and leave with my family and my unreturned goods. My wife and I are very confused since we are the ones usually dealing trespass warrants on our hotel employees that commit fraud ect… So we jump into our car and drive to Valusia County Mall where another Maui Nix store is located according to our Smartphone. This time I have my wife go into Maui Nix(Since I have already told Jesus Christ that I will never walk into a Maui Nix store again in my lifetime). So my wife with the items needing to be returned with receipt in hand proceeds to the Mall store to return the items while my daughter and I share an ice cream. 10 minutes later my wife walks upto me with the items and receipt in hand. Basically the store Representave explained to my wife that the trespass warrant was for all Maui Nix store locations. My wife,(who has helped me build my hotel empire) tells the lady that she was not trespassed, and that was only don’t to her husband… Then the store representative states«The amount is too large»(It was 300.00& She had the receipt in hand!!!) Basically, Zach from the Oceanwalk Shoppes location had called all Maui Nix stores to advise them that my purchases should not be returned. I felt like I was in a 3rd World Country!!! My wife felt like Maui Nix was like shopping at the Flea Market!!! We hate both, and Luckily I had purchased the items with a Platinum Credit card with whom I have Concierge Services and limit upto 500k. We believe in Jesus Christ and Karma… Zach and Maui Nix will pay dearly for playing with my family’s freedom.

If you are a tourist, you will love this place. If you are looking for a bargain, this is not the place for you. It is crowded with material, but there are no discounts. They have sale racks but the mark down amounts are very little. The merchandise is a one stop surf shop stop, so if you are in town looking for surf gear you will find it here.

I honestly don’t even know where to start — we felt stalked the entire time we were in the store that we ended putting back the items that we were going to purchase. Associates in the store were complaining about how the number of sales were down as I was browsing the clearance rack to find that items had only been marked down a very minute amount($ 2.50 off? The sweater that was $ 80 is now $ 78.50LOL — great way to get those sales driving up!). Trying to navigate through this store without bumping into everything is pretty much impossible. I bumped into a clothing rack and got a nice sized scrape on my arm. Seriously, stuff could be spaced out a little more, maybe with a little less displays of Maui Nix t-shirts, it might make it easier for people to shop.

This place sells beach wear and summer clothes… The prices are way to expensive for the crapy material… i browsed at the sandles cost about 15 to 20 something dollars… I’m not to crazy about there items… Just went inside because I like there mascot Maui man in front if the door… I thought it was really cute… that’s pretty much why I went inside… found that it was not my taste so was the price…

This store is amazing they have a huge selection of everything better than the bigger chain skate stores like CCS bought most my Nixon watch collection here because of the variety of watches they offer they have really great products and the workers are super chill and most of them skate and surf and know what you are talking about

I’m surprised I’m the only person to ever have reviewed Maui Nix, considering how many stores they have in such high-traffic areas of Daytona(and elsewhere, for that matter). Anyways, it’s time to update a little what I wrote three years ago. Maui Nix, yeah, is a corporate store of sorts as they have a fairly large company. Their flagship store is also rather large and honestly. at least half of it seems devoted to Maui Nix’s own tees(with their old surfer dude on them), Bike Week tees, and things that aren’t real surfwear. Their Volusia Mall location feels like a glorified Pac-Sun as does the Ocean Walk location. So why four stars? Because even if you can’t call them all that core, they do still sell surf boards and have a large selection. Plus, they have the largest selection of current-season surfwear of anywhere except Ron-Jon in Florida. I am a surf shop freak: if I am in a town with a surf shop, I’ve got to see it. Understand? I know the products so well I’ve been asked more than once which company I work for. For real. So I walk into the flagship Maui Nix’s and they actually HAVE there, in stock, all the Volcom, Hurley, Billabong, and other brands’ stuff that I’ve seen in magazines or on the web but no other store actually got in stock. Aside from price, which is pretty uniform for non-sale stuff, only two things matter with surf shops: are they core and contribute to the local community and the groms and, do they have the products you want? At least on the latter count Maui Nix certainly is on. Plus, the kids working at Maui Nix – at least the two I spoke with recently – surf and know their stuff. I would rather support a shop like Red Dog(New Smyrna Beach) or Surf Station(St. Augustine) but Maui Nix does have the goods and seems to be serious about their game.
