I stopped in the Fairfield Commons mall specifically to buy a pair of Birkenstocks. The Birkenstock web site directed me to The Walking Place. The location was good — right near where I entered the mall; however, it might be lost in the shuffle — there was another large shoe store directly across from the entrance and yet another store selling shores between these two stores. Once inside, I found they had a good selection of shoes, especially Birkenstocks. The associate was very friendly and talked to me about the shoes. She let me know they tend to run larger than normal. This was a good example of going into a store rather than purchasing on the internet — I typically wear a size 14 running shoe and after multiple attempts, we discovered that I wear an 11 Birkenstock. Without the associates help, I would have walked away with the incorrect size. This is important because the return policy is 30 days if the shoes have not been worn. Purchased sale shoes are non-returnable. I went with the BS Arizona Mocha Suede shoe for $ 120.00. Spending the amount and returning to my out-of-state home made the associate’s assistance very helpful. She also stated that was the only shoe she wore and her experience was helpful.
