Negative 5 stars. Just bad bad bad. Poor quality food swimming in old oil. Fake food. Service lacking. Too bad good location.

The only thing great about this place is the walking distance from the hotel. You walk in and are sat fairly quickly. Drinks are promptly given. Menu is odd. Kind of a throw all on it. Food isn’t anything memorable. I’ve been several times hoping for better food but always let down. Ate fried oysters and catfish last time and didn’t taste «right» i didn’t eat any more of the oysters in fear of getting sick.
Gumbo is not something I would consider gumbo. Crawfish ettoufe was bland. Catfish was fried perfecrly, but bland. Coleslaw, seemed freshly made. It was ok. The décor has a little texas steakhouse feel to it and a little seafood and Chinese décor all tossed into one big room.
An employees or maybe the owners little. girl likes to run up and down the isle, even stopped at my table and pretended to write down my order and went and played waitress at an empty table. Just threw me off that she’s allowed to play in the front of house like that.

Last time coming. Even after explaining how to cook a medium rare steak it still comes out raw and cold. Service is back and forth on good and bad. Depends on who you get.

Having eaten at this restaurant once a month for the last year I have always found it neat, clean, and the service to be excellent. I definitely recommend it. Try it for yourself and see

Yuck. If you really like seafood, skip this place. You WILL be disappointed. If you don’t mind bad service and seafood that is below average, go!

I don’t know what’s going on with this restaurant but the prices are going UP and the quality is going DOWN! The grilled seafood dinner that use to be $ 10.99 is now $ 15.99, the side lobster tail that was $ 10 is now $ 15 (not worth it for the tiny tail you get) and almost everything has gone up in price at least $ 2 – 3. This past crawfish season their crawfish was $ 7.99 per pound and when you consider that you’re only getting about 4 oz of actual, edible meat, that’s a lot! I can’t go to the store and buy a rib eye for that price!
On our last visit I ordered gumbo with a side piece of fried red snapper and my Hubby ordered fried shrimps with a side of fried red snapper as well. We specified RED SNAPPER. Both of our sides were fried catfish instead. It is illegal to sell catfish (or any lesser quality fish) as red snapper. The same owners have opened a restaurant in Cleveland and we tried it a couple of times already. Same thing, we specify red snapper and get catfish. The last time I ordered the fish, shrimps and oysters dinner which is $ 12.99. The oysters were delicious, the fish was catfish not red snapper and the shrimps tasted like they had turned. They’re got to do a better job than this if they plan to stay open in Cleveland, especially with these prices! You can go a mile down the road to Fish Tales and for $ 7 get 5 pieces of shrimps or fish with French fries and hush puppies and it’s delicious!

I’ve been to this place several times since it opened. But I won’t be back. The food quality has gone way down hill. This last time we ordered the combo plate consisting of a crab cake, piece of fish and 6 shrimp. The crab cake has to be frozen out of a box. It’s binder seemed to be rice. Had no real taste to it. The fish I think was frozen as well. Just did not look or taste like they just breaded and fried after we walked in the door. Wasn’t worth the 11 bucks a plate.
I hate to give a local place a bad rating. But maybe this will make them wake up.

Yes, this is best you will find in Dayton for seafood. My kids enjoy the fried shrimp. The Scallop salad was simplistic in presentation (typical salad with scallops on top) but very tasty! Seems to be a locals spot for Sunday dinner. Big booty waitresses (my last visit anyway) keep the sweet tea flowing!

Honestly after seeing that this place only had 2 – 3 stars, I wasn’t expecting much (and kind of scared) but it is the only place to eat that was walking distance from the Best Western I was staying at.
Overall I’m pleasantly surprised!!! Calamari for appetizer… yum! Fried perfect to the tee. Then the grilled shrimp meal I got was so good. Very tasty shrimp!!! Although the rice I could tell it was the instant make it yourself stuff. But I would definitely get this dish again (and did for the day after). The grilled veggies this plate comes with is sooo good. Come by and give this place a chance.

This place was terrible. I will not be back. From the moment we walked through the door I had a bad feeling. It did appear to be clean. The waitress apparently was training and she was not doing a good job at all. She never once cracked a smile. She was very cold and unfriendly. It was obvious she did not want to be there. When we ordered our drinks I asked for water with lemon. I had to ask for the lemon three times and still never got it. They brought my three year old the same size glass they brought to everyone else, no lid. Ordered chicken gumbo and it was no good. The «medium rare» steak they brought us was RAW! There were two adults and two children in our party. HUsband had steak and shrimp, wife had chicken salad, one child had catfish and baked potato other child had a kids chicken strip plate and 3 drinks. Total was over $ 50! McDonalds would have been a better dinner option.

I’d say this place is average, it can be pricey at times for what they offer. I haven’t tried much but I would call this place a hit/​miss on getting it right in terms of food. Service has been good everyone I’ve gone.

grilled catfish is good! i had no problem with the wait staff. can’t find better food in this town that’s for sure

Less than average food, ok prices and bad wait staff. Basically like a Baytown seafood but not as good. I ordered the grilled seafood platter, the red snapper was over done, the shrimp still had lots of shell on most of them and were chewy and the scallops were hard and over cooked. The «cajun» rice was bland and bad. The best thing on the plate was the grilled veggies. Had fried calamari as an appetizer and amazingly it was the best fried calamari I’ve ever had! There just wasn’t enough of the calamari on a very small plate.
I will stick to Baytown Seafood for this type of food.
