We had been here a few times but it’s been many years ago. So decided to give it a try for restaurant week which is something the Dayton area does to get people to try new places or new dishes. It’s a limited menu but you get several courses for a reduced price. Here is was a soup or salad, entrée and dessert. I got the balsamic salad which was awful and so we shared my husband choice of the peasant salad which was the basic 7 layer salad. My salad just tasted strongly of vinegar and I like balsamic so that was a strike against them. They are known for their specialty pizza. I got the mushroom and it was good. When it came to dessert. you get 3 choices. they were out of the one I wanted :(and I hate coffee so tiramisu wasn’t appealing. Being restaurant week I was very unimpressed they would run out of their dessert so early in the evening. Seems they were very unprepared for the amount of people who came and they won’t be seeing us back for many more years. The pizza is ok but super expensive for pizza and I dare say not worth that price.

If you have been around the Miami Valley for years, then you may remember a restaurant known as «Peasant Stock.» Figlio occupies the same space, and they carried over the Peasant Stock salad that was so popular. The speciality now is wood fired pizza, and it’s delicious! The service is very good. But, the most striking thing to me was the atmosphere. The lighting, music, and view of the wood fired oven all combine to create the nicest ambiance in the Miami Valley.

Best Italian in town. Local ownership, but better value than Mama D’s or Roost. Ambiance is warm when the weather is cold and exciting when the weather is warm. Drinks made right. I’m probably craving the Spicy Tomato/Blackened Chicken as you’re reading this. Figlio is on our«favorite restaurants in Dayton» list. Wood fired pizzas, salads, and pasta dishes are great; never had a bad meal here. 6 stars!

I freaking love this place! I’ve been living in Ohio for 2 years now and I’ve trend a lot of restaurants, but this is still the only place I highly highly recommend. The food is fantastic. You gotta try the crab and corn chowder appetizer too btw. Wine is a little expensive put that’s par for the course, and food is pretty reasonably priced in my opinion. I’ve never been dissatisfied by an experience there.

This is my frequent«go to» spot for a nice meal before seeing a Fraze concert. Cocktails are delicious and the food is almost always good. Service is hit and miss but not awful. We went last night and most of us had salmon in one form or another. I had the roasted salmon and it was very good and cooked perfectly. Several others in my party had the salmon pasta dish and the verdict was that it was yummy as well. We had a pleasant waitress who tried very hard to make up for a mix-up in the kitchen. There were five of us and all of us got our food at the same time except for one girl. The waitress made sure it came out shortly after ours and she gets kudos for that. Two of us ordered desserts to share(red velvet cake and chocolate mousse) and both were wonderful. Loved the unique red velvet cake! It was delivered with a delicious cocoa icing in lieu of the standard cream cheese frosting and I loved it(too much actually because I ended up eating most of it). Great food with good friends.

I have been to this restaurant many times but never written a review. It dawned on me tonight when I was there that I have never had a bad meal or anything less than great service. I think the pizza is close to the best in Dayton. The crab and corn chowder is the best and amazing and their pasta dishes are great especially the crab ravioli. Great atmosphere, food and service. A well run restaurant with great food!

Love the food here! Found out about this place when my husband and I went on a food tour in Columbus on Grandview and Figlio’s was part of the tour. The atmosphere is excellent as is the food and service. I definitely recommend this for date night.

Located in a shopping center on the corner of Stroop and Shroyer. Parking can be difficult but I think its worth finding a spot for. We love the atmosphere here. It seems this is an older crowd favorite. I would say the majority are 60 and up but I saw plenty of younger sub thirties too. You walk in the door directly in to their bar area. We usually opt for sitting at the bar but they have a very nice dining room too. When we sit in the dining room I like to get as close to the pizza oven as possible. I like all the action and in cooler months, the heat. They have a decent beer selection. Its mostly bottles but they do have three taps for craft beer. The wine list is nice and they have a full service bar. They must be know for their martinis because I saw many of them being made. They have a great menu. Plenty of Italian entrees and a great selection of wood fired pizzas plus the«make your own» option. Thats my favorite. The pizza is very good. One of the top in Dayton in my opinion. My wife agreed. The pricing is reasonable, the staff are all very friendly and helpful. We dont come here as often as we should but we always enjoy ourselves. Its local and I am glad to see it is always busy.

My Husband and I come here often, really just for the food. The service is always a little rough, servers aren’t normally the friendliest, however, the seafood diablo is crazy good, and so is the crab and corn chowder! Come here if your looking for a chill environment! I love that they take reservations!

First of all, Let me say that the food here was really good. The only reason I gave it 4 stars was because the prices were pretty steep for pizza, yes I know It was Brick oven style, but $ 12 for a mini personal pizza is way too much. I also wish I had known that it was a little nicer than I expected. I felt grossly under dressed. So If you want a nice intimate cozy date night, and are in the mood for pizza such as pear with Brie and arugula, this place is perfect. Not the place to have a slice on a night you didn’t want to cook for you family. Also I was wearing a sundress with flip flops… Next time I will dress a little better and leave the kids at home.

Great food and ambiance. Perfect place for a dinner with friends. Good wine/beer selection. $ 55 for dinner for two and 3 drinks each. Couldve easily been cheaper though.

Never knew this place was here! Went with the family and we got three pizzas and a pasta dish. Everyone filled up and their were no complaints. The foccacia bread they give you wit herb infused olive oil kept the kiddos happy as the drew on the table paper cloths with crayons. Candlelight setting at night was cozy and I wish more restaurants would dim the lights more for dinner. I had the pear and brie pizza and I will return for this mix of salty and sweet, fresh tasting pizza. So good! Husband had the Linguini bolognese and he really liked! He said her could have eaten seconds! My only complaint was that I had the grapefruit martini and it tasted like it came from a ready made container. I can make a much nicer fresh one at home.

I need to mention I ordered pick up, not a good idea. The food wasn’t bad… it just wasn’t good. A $ 13 plate of pasta, a small portion that tasted like something I’d get at any diner. Not awful, but I guess I expected more. The pizza was ok. The crust flavorless, ingredients not that fresh, it’s only $ 13 as well, but I could get something better for the same price at any of the party pizza chains in the area. The restaurant has a very nice atmosphere. I paid at the bar, and I think that’s probably why the place is so successful. If I had a few drinks in me I probably wouldn’t have been able to taste how mediocre everything was. Simply put, if I’m paying $ 26 for pasta and a pizza, I either want it good or big. This was neither.

Do not order meat or fish with the expectation that it will Not be over cooked. The salmon was very obviously overcooked and because the waitress did not check on the meal it was our fault.. They were sorry but, alas did not offer to re-cook. I would call them food posers.

Very nice place. Just moved to the area and trying all the pizza places… Different than most pizza places around more of a Olive Garden or fancy restaurant feel.

Our favorite«upper» scale Italian restaurant. While our favorite remains Mama D’s, for a quiet night out, Figlio’s fits the bill better. The food is excellent and the atmosphere is great. The have maintained the Peasant’s Salad from the old Peasant Stock, the former restaurant in this location. The Chicken Picata is a perennial choice and the topper is a Chocolate Mousse to share. 5 – 6 is happy hour with mini martini’s that are sized to keep one from overindulging before dinner. I suggest the Grapefruit vodka version which in other places might be a Salty Dog, in a smaller glass. Not cheap but not overly expensive. We visit often.
