Derailed A Hair Salon

I’m so happy with my cut and color and the price was more than reasonable. Mindy is the owner and has been a stylist for more than 20yrs. She really understood what I wanted. CASH ONLY

If you get the answer machine and leave a message– good luck with having someone call you back. You might consider booking your hair appointment someplace else if you don’t want to look like Rapunzel. I have called several times and no one ever returned my call. I will not bother calling this salon ever again.

This place is Great! It’s a one women shop but extremely flexible! Walked in on a Saturday afternoon and she managed to get me in with a cut and highlight!

I hate to say it, but I was quite disappointed with what seemed really lackluster service at Derailed, which is too bad because I’d love to support a local salon, and the folks who own it seem kind enough. My issue is this: the male stylist who did my hair was not innovative at all, and further, blatantly uninterested in talking about my desires for a different hair style, and seeing what we could come up with.
When I told him I was really tired of having my hair styled in a particular way, he responded that my hair was short, so there was nothing more he could do than give me the same cut, and then when my hair grows out, we can try something different. It bears mentioning that my hair is not exceedingly short – it is about chin length, though graduated in the back. It also bears mentioning that by the time I went to Derailed, I’d been on a six-​week cross country trip, and had not had my hair done since July. My former stylist would have had plenty of suggestions! Unfortunately, she’s 1,000 miles away. I’m sorry, but I’ve never had a stylist say something like this… especially considering how many ways there are to style and cut shorter hair.
I left Derailed with the same, exact haircut I went in asking not to get… only it wasn’t even as good as my old one. It just did not seem professionally cut. It’s not like I love sitting at the hair salon forever, but my hair is complex texture – a LOT of fine hair – and should NOT take 15 minutes to cut and barely style. The whole thing was quite rushed and aloof. Not surprisingly, then, I noticed the cut wasn’t even when I got home, and had to touch it up myself with regular scissors and thinning shears. Man. I know this place is inexpensive, but I would be willing to pay more for better service. I’m disappointed – I was hoping I’d love this place!

Derailed is a nice salon in the oregon. I’ve had my hair done here several times and always been happy. It’s not terribly expensive either which is great! I’d definatley suggest trying them. The only downside is that they don’t take cards, only cash and check :)
