I was out visit my Mother-​In-​Law, and she we in desperate need of a tire during our short visit. Dayton Valley Tire was able to get me right in, and they had the tire in stock. I am not sure if I got the best price, but I sure got a lot of value and good service!

I had a flat on my boat trailer so I walked in the tire to be fixed. No problems and out the door in 30 minutes. Brought my RV in for new tires. I was apprehensive changing from biased ply to radial but Ralph made it easy. We selected the tire and then on a Saturday, two hours later, it was finished and out the door. I called other tire shops and no one wanted to touch the conversion to radial tires. I am a satisfied customer and paid less then what I had found on the internet. True the shop is small and they get backed up but I have not had a problem with them.

I was asked by a friend who was sick to take her automobile to Dayton Valley Tire where she purchased the tires from early last year. One had a nail in it and so it leaked, and she wanted them rotated. So whenI arrive the place is empty. I told the fellow behind the counter that I brought this car in for a friend who purchased them here last year and it need a leak patched and tires rotated. First word out of is mouth were, «do you have an appointment?» No the nail in the tire didn’t make an appointment so this an unexpected event. He says,” Well you have to make an appointment we are very busy!” I look around and I say yeah this placed is packed??? Why can’t you just fix the flat, no one’s here? His response was, «I got a guy coming her any minute to have them 32’s put on his truck.
So I try explaining to him that my friend is very sick and needs her tire fixed, and rotated if possible, but the fixing of the tire is real important. I said she purchased them from you guys and you guarantee your work, she said you guys are awesome and would take care of her. He said, «can’t do it today, but I’ll pencil you in for 11:00 tomorrow» By now hie was coming out in a condescending attitude. So I said Ok pen me in for 11:00.
I left and went back to my friends home and told her they would not fix her tire, and she was really angry because she said, «what would happen if I pulled in their with a tire going flat and a car load of grandchildren? I mean I bought my tires from them and they said they would fix any flats and rotate them as needed.» She called them up and the guy who answered the phone was a real ass to her, and said by appointment only! Oh and we only work on tires on certain dates like Monday-​Wednsday-​Friday. She explained she purchased the tires from them and expected them to live up to their guarantee. He is like I got you down for 11:00 tomorrow. That will have to do! So then we called America’s Discount tires in Carson City and told them what the situation was… well what do you know??? This company believes in real customer service. I took her vehicle in and they patched the tire, rotated it and didn’t charge a dime.
My advice is your looking to get tires no matter how cheap the price may be DON“T go with Dayton Valley Tire. Nails, screws and pieces of metal laying on the road don’t make appointments-​flats happen and they need to be repaired the same day if ya want to get around. So drive the extra 10 – 15 miles to Americas Best and if you have a leak or flat they will repair it same day, might have to wait 15 – 30 minutes but it get’s done! If you have to change a flat on the road, drive it to Carson, have America’s Tire patch it. Dayton Vally will want an appointment.
Dayton Valley Tire, located in a small town so they need to build good relationships with the people who live in their community, it’s not like people in Carson or Reno are gonna drive to Dayton for tires, especially if repairs have to be done by appointment in an empty garage! Good relationships are built on good customer service. Going the extra mile to make customers happy, and being nice while doing so. NOT happening at Dayton Valley Tire!

In my quest for tires, I heard about Dayton Valley Tire and the rumor of good prices. I chugged out to Dayton to have a look see.
It is a small shop, and there isn’t much of a selection, although they can get tires from warehouses as close as Reno so they can have them for you fast.
What left a bad taste in my mouth, though, was that they were pushing some «Capitol» brand tires. «They’re made by Michelin,» the guy told me.
I don’t think so, Tim. According to a May 2004 report in Tire Business magazine, Capitol brand tires are made by Nexen Tire Corp. and Itochu International. Nexen was established in 1942 and claims to be the first Korean tire manufacturer.
Nothing against Korean tires, but I’ll stick with a brand I’ve at least heard of. So, either the guy was trying to pull a fast one or was mis-​informed– either way, I think we’re done here.
