Cannery Art and Design Center

I visited Cannery Art & Design Center one lovely, sunny afternoon. The art works displayed were quite cute and unique in a simple, bare atmosphere. For an art gallery that showcases local artists, I feel that they have a somewhat diverse collection. I like unconventional or contemporary art, so I really enjoyed some of the new renditions of traditional cookware, the Eastern & Western inspirations, and the random splatter prints. There’s a historical section near the back about Dayton’s 1913, so that was also intriguing. Overall, it was a nice experience. I would visit again!

The Cannery Design Center is a really eclectic gallery in a great corner location in Dayton. It is dark and spacious and many of the pieces are just relaxingly lounging against the wall. It has a decidedly laid back feel, unpretentious and relaxed. It also seems to go on forever! Once you look through the side that faces the street corner, there’s a more traditional feeling/​looking gallery (the white, bright, and track lighting, and pictures hanging on the walls).
This was one of the more crowded places JMack and I came to on Urban Nights. There seemed to be a good following of people who frequent this gallery and seems like it would be a nice place to hang out. JMack and I had to leave early to try and meet up with one of his friends, but this is definitely one of those places where I can see spending more time and enjoying all the varied artwork.
