Brookshire Brothers is the only grocery store in Coldspring, and even though they have a near monopoly on certain services, it is hard to find friendlier staff. The store offers many services, including check cashing, money orders, even stamped envelopes. You can get gas too. The pharmacy is open during normal business hours. And the deli beats out most of the restaurants in town for price and great food. The fried chicken is the best I’ve had. You can get ribs, rotisserie, breakfast items, and coffee. It’s a small town. You will pay more for grocery items here than at Walmart. The selection is limited, but well thought out. All in all, a pleasant experience and a business that works hard to serve its community.

This location of Brookshire Brothers has the very best fried chicken around! I make a special stop from Houston each year just to get this chicken! When the ladies behind the counter have flour up to their elbows, you know it’s good! It’s hot, crispy, and juicy. The store has a nice, overall selection of items for a small town like Coldspring. I don’t know what chorizo is since this ain’t Mexico, so don’t sweat it.

Was quite surprised to find that they don’t even have chorizo when in this morning. Seems Brookshire is ignoring the hispanic food culture which is amazing. Due to the fact that no one in Coldspring sells breakfast tacos on Sunday(the one Mexican restaurant wasn’t even open), I will gonna make my own. Nope. You gotta drive over 30 minutes in these parts of Texas just to get chorizo. Mercy.
