Your basic sushi restaurant. Portions are a little small, but sufficient and filling. Fresh sushi, and the tempura udon was as expected.

Yum yum best fresh sushi. Menu has variety. Not the same old rolls you’d expect. I’m visiting from out of town. Wish I can take this place with me!

Service: A Taste: A Quality: A Price: A– Ambience: A Despite the shabby exterior, Akashi has a cozy and surprisingly nice interior. They greet you in Japanese and start you off with a warm towel to relax. I ordered the playboy roll and the gangnam style roll. Each order was about $ 14 and came with miso soup, a small salad, and ginger. The playboy roll was crunchy delicious, and the gangnam was creamy goodness(8 pieces each). I highly recommend both. If you ask for additional soup, salad, or ginger, they give it to you for no additional charge. There’s a small desert stand next to the register where there are complimentary cookies and coffee/hot cocoa. Overall, this place provides an excellent dining experience. If it weren’t for the high cost, I’d be inclined to go on a daily basis.

The sushi here was quite good and did not dissapoint! We read the reviews that this place had good sushi and miso soup and found that to be accurate. The exterior of the restaurant was quite concerning upon our arrival and we weren’t sure that we were at the right place but the interior décor is a 180 from the exterior. Our service was prompt and the waiter was very kind in giving us time to review our options and ask any questions we had about the rolls and combos. I was pleased that we were able to be seated immediately and quickly served, start to finish our meal took just under 45 minutes which is great when you want a quality meal but don’t want to wait all night. Overall I would go back but would recommend that the owner do a little to the exterior of the building to make the restaurant more inviting to new customers.

Well made sushi, the staff is very polite and attentive, soup and salad and a hot towel to get you started. Only wish they had some specials on the rolls. I had two rolls and a beer my bill was $ 45

I am not a sushi person. But, I like this place. It is peaceful. We decided to be adventurous and try some sushi and japanese food. We had the terayaki beef combo with california roll, veggie soba noodles, shrimp tempura sushi, and spicy tuna roll. All were delicious and quite pretty when presented. My favorite was the beef tempura and the shrimp tempura sushi. That was a lot of food. Normally, I would say that a couple orders of sushi is enough for one person, so we ended up with left overs. lol They have a good assortment of drinks and asian beers. We had hot sake; and, on certain days wine is 50% off per bottle. Also, the service was friendly, attentive and quick. The wait staff and sushi chefs greeted everyone who walked thru the door and also said goodbye. The cost was reasonable. I could see me stopping in for a sushi roll or other traditional dishes. Kinda wish they had an open grill, too. Definitely recommend. Caio!

So I went to Akashi Sushi Bar today for lunch for the first time and omg color me impressed. Their miso soup is heaven I asked for seconds, got my Japanese on, got the bbq beef bento box and it was heaven. The beef would’ve been better though if half of the slices didn’t have a huge chunk of bone in the middle. But otherwise it was delicious. Sat at the bar to see their chefs at work and can definitely tell they take pride in the quality and presentation of their dishes. Did take a while to get my food but again, that’s because the chefs will spend minutes making sure the food is properly presentable to their customers and only using the best looking garnishes to top off the dish. If it isn’t, the chef will get rid of it until he finds one that meets his standards. I know, I sat at the bar and watched them work. Their crab and octopus sushi are absolutely amazing; Fried noodles were oh so delectable, and the other stuff that was fried, don’t know what it was but it made my stomach and mouth extremely happy. Doesn’t look like much on the outside but the inside is way better. I will definitely be going back.

Akashi sushi is pretty darn amazing. When I found out about it I was like«meh I bet it’ll be a pretty sad place to go to, and it won’t live up to my hopes and dreams»… But the moment I entered the building I knew it was fate. The dining area is decorated beautifully, the staff was very friendly, and the atmosphere wasn’t one where you felt like you have to whisper all the time: very kind and carefree environment. Also, it was so authentic that they give you warm damp towels to wash your hands with. And of course, the food was great! I got the katsu curry my first time and every time since. The only things I have a problem with are 1) it’s in a semi sketchy area kinda in the middle of nowhere 2) it has a sorta weird smell but you get used to it 3) the serving sizes aren’t exactly worth the price, but sk good you sometimes can forgive them

My husband and I love coming here! We come for every celebration… Birthdays, holidays… You name it! This past year we brought my stepdaughter along with us on Valentine’s Day… And they didn’t disappoint! They had red heart balloons all over the place! The food was excellent and my stepdaughter especially loved the Japanese rice candy that came with her meal! I especially love the UD Roll!!! We will definitely be back!

I. Love. Akashi. I currently live in Chicago(where there are ample options for good, authentic sushi) and every time I come to visit my family I request Akashi. The sushi is incredible and well made. The waitresses are generally attentive and I’ve never had a bad experience. The Dragon roll is my favorite but the Playboy roll is the best experience because they light it on fire at the table before serving it. This is a must-try for people in Dayton!

Our favorite sushi place in Dayton. Very consistent in their quality and service. Being from Hawaii where I grew up eating sushi and sashimi, the fish from Akashi is fresh and good tasting in comparison to other sushi restaurants we’ve been to in the Dayton area. Service can be a bit slow but it hasn’t bothered me to a point where I remembered a specific experience to Unilocal about. Highly recommend this place for good sushi! Will be coming back.

If you come here expect to be awhile! Our service was really slow. We knew what we wanted within a couple minutes but we waited a few more for our waitress to come back. We waited a reasonable amount of time 15 minutes and I saw our rolls were ready on the sushi bar. However our waitress was bussing a table and we didn’t get our rolls for another 10 minutes! I was really tired of staring at our food, but not eating it. About 20 mins after that my entrée showed up. About 10 minutes after that my SOs dinner showed up. Why the delay? Were they making them one at a time? I don’t know. The food: The woogulgi Kalbee tang was good with tender meet and spicy flavor. The dol sot was a little flat in flavor but it was okay. The playboy roll was a straight knock off of sima’s roll, burned in alcohol and everything but personally the flavor was unsuccessfully imitated. The sima version of playboy is much more flavorful, and they get minus points for plagiarism. I’ve been eating the playboy from sima since 2009 and never saw it anywhere else until today. Lol I don’t know why it peeves me. The other roll was good!

Hands down one of the best Sushi bars in Ohio! The sushi is traditional and legitimate, but the westernized rolls are also great. The kitchen food is very clean and prepared with low sodium and little to no MSG while keeping awesome flavor! I’m so glad Dayton has a Japanese restaurant as good as this one. Thank you akashi!

The lunch menu was pretty decent. My friend ordered the sushi box and I ordered the sashimi box. Sushi box came with 4 pieces of sushi and yakisoba, tempuras, salad and 2 egg rolls. Mine came with 5 – 6 pieces of sashimi, 1 egg roll, bowl of rice, little bit of yakisoba, salad, and tempuras. It was clean and pretty good. Its not impressive good.

Wow, this place filled up fast on a Friday night! It sure had me wondering what I had been missing all this time. Now, it was time to find out! We went for the«order the whole menu approach» in an attempt to not miss anything. Here’s the challenge and the itemized assessment: Honeymoon Roll(shrimp tempura, mango, avocado, almonds, spicy sauce, eel sauce) (Highly Recommend — unique flavor combo) Tuna Roll w/Spicy Sauce(not to be confused with a spicy tuna roll (Better Than Typical ‘Mushy’ Spicy Tuna Mix) California Roll(dinner) w/Spicy Sauce (Good — Very Fresh Tasting and BIG) Playboy Roll(shrimp tempura, asparagus, spicy tuna, eel sauce) (Good, but couldn’t really taste the asparagus) Rainbow Roll(salmon, snapper, tuna, shrimp, avocado laid across a crab roll) (Just OK, needed more avocado) Bengal Roll(tempura shrimp, mango, tuna, eel sauce) (Highly Recommend, best roll we had) Bomb Roll(deep fried spicy tuna, extra spicy sauce, jalapeño, sriracha sauce) (Very Spicy, but barely considered sushi) Tuna Nigiri(Just so-so, not a lot of flavor) Yellowtail Nigiri(Very good) Chicken Yakisoba(Delicious, firm noodles, if not a bit oily) Teriyaki Beef(Average) Great service with a smile. The sushi came out quickly considering there were two chefs working for at least 10 full tables.

Good quality sushi(fresh nigiri but they are out of toro usually) and I would try any of their special rolls on the board. I just had to knock a star down for the service. Unfortunately, it is awfully slow and the rolls don’t all come at the same time. I was done with my roll before my partner got his sushi. In addition, they advertised that if you check-in on four square you get 10 percent off. That is no longer true. Please take that off of your website. I don’t really care for the discount, but I really do hate outdated marketing materials that can be updated in 5 seconds. All and all, the sushi is great. It’s more of a take out atmosphere though.
