You have try the Sunday lunch buffet at Cliffty Creek, it’s not expensive and very nice home cooking. Make sure you get to the catfish when it’s right out of the frier otherwise it’ll be tough and chewy after 30 minutes . The desserts are passable except for the banana cream-wafer dessert. It’s a southern staple and not one to miss. The cobblers are pretty bad: canned filling in frozen pie crusts. I didn’t care for the ice cream/soft serve but my travel partner swears by it. To each his/her own. Next time I visit I want to bring a group of friends to the large cabins across the lake. The cabins are great, though a bit pricey but hey, it’s a resort right? The better value is the lodge because you shouldn’t be spending most of your day indoors anyway. The staff, again is wonderful and friendly and more than happy to answer any question you have, or you can spark a nice conversation during some down time. Campsites are cheap but wide open without much privacy. The mini golf looks old and you’re not even tempted to play. You have to drive everywhere from the campsite to get to amenities such as hiking and the lodge. The pool is clean and crisp, but if you’re a woman, cover up because if you’re wearing a bikini, you’ll get the stink eye from the helicopter moms. The trails are clean and beautiful, but spend some time on the lake and take a dip.

We stayed here in our motorhome for 3 days. It’s a beautiful location and the campground is very pretty with lots of nice accommodations. Our only negative comment is that after pouring so much money into this park, why is not one of the campsites even close to level and who had the great idea of placing the electric outlets kind of/sort of between adjoining campsites so that people can«share» the electricity? Most of the outlets are way behind the campsites so that only units who bring very long extension cords can reach them. Many of the extensions I saw were way undersized for an RV. This would have all seemed laughable if it wasn’t such a pain to accommodate. I can imagine that 5th wheels, trailers, and tent trailers would find it somewhat easier to manage the unlevel conditions better than our 35′ motorhome, but I still saw a ton of blocks under everyone’s units and people seemed to work an inordinate time to get set up. Don’t get me wrong, however. We truly enjoyed this wonderful place once we finally got through all of the logistics.
