Great value and solid food. Get the tacos. Chicken good. Carnitas a little dry, but I like it crispy. Skip the guac. Chips amazing and bottomless self serve — highlight of the meal.

FRESH ingredients. So good. I get the veggie burrito sans sour cream and cheese but I add the fajita veggies which are SOGOOD. You know when you are getting full but the food still tastes good so you have to keep eating? That is the Guadalajara burrito experience. Also, the price is so affordable. Best burrito in town hands down. I should also mention that I’m from San Diego and therefor have high standards for Mexican food.

The best /most authentic Mexican food I have had in Davis so far. The pricing is standard for most Mexican restaurants and the service is no nonsense. The food is good, nearing great. The salsa bar is a nice addition, and who doesn’t love free chips? You can order any standard item on the menu(taco, burrito, fajita, etc.) and not be disappointed. I haven’t really ventured into the more trying parts of their menu but I am sure they are decent as well. The atmosphere isn’t like the Guadalajara in North Davis, it is somewhat dark and dingy, but I like it better, it just feels more homey. Will be coming back.

Of all of the items(you can see many of them pictured) at this place, my go-to order is the«super tostada.» It’s a salad(okay, it’s shredded lettuce) with a couple slices of tomato in a tostada-bowl deal with your choice of meats and beans. It comes with a small cup of guacamole on the side, but I suggest ordering more than just that. The guac comes made combined with what looks like pico de gallo and it is delicious. Seating was a little rough today for lunch, as it was windy outside and everyone sat indoors. I ended up sharing a table with a nice man and his daughters. We made small talk and they went along their way. The salsa bar in back is fantastic. From pico de gallo, to green salsa to red hot«very spicy» stuff, it’s all covered with more levels of heat in between. Unlimited complimentary chips can be found back there as well. Waiter service: they do bring food ordered out to your number, but drinks are self-serve. I believe they do clean your table also. So they’re hybrid waiters. It works. The place is tucked in to the corner next to the Nugget Market off Mace Blvd. in Davis and it’d be easy to miss.

This review is for the South Davis Guad’s location, who frequently has catered lunches at my office, even going so far as to cook the meats and quesadillas on the spot! We also go there to dine-in, and they usually have daily specials if you don’t know what to get. On the more indulgent side, there are chimichangas, for the simpler tastes they have tamales and enchiladas, fajitas and tacos. Just like their North Davis location(I went to THAT one way more during undergrad), they’re most known for the burritos(regular and super, or the super giant size, can also order wet). Chips and salsa are free. Order a la carte or as combo plates with rice and beans. South Davis location has a nice patio for outdoor seating on a nice day. They also have breakfast burritos, and horchata of course.

Second time that I have been to this location and I beat the rush by coming in at 5pm for dinner! First time was a bit better. No one was at the cashier, so instead of just standing there waiting around. I grabbed a menu to kill some time as well as to confirm my order. I put the menu back and still, no one noticed me at the cashier, so I pulled out my bright turquoise wallet to see if anyone would realize that I’m ready. After what felt like 4 minutes later, a girl said she would be right with me and that was another minute of waiting. Not that I didn’t mind, but at least a greeting or acknowledgment from the beginning. One server was even cleaning dishes and she saw me, but just kept to cleaning… After ordering, I went to the salsa bar and filled my plastic bowl with sauces and free chips! The chips are nice and crunchy, but the salsa just felt really plain. I’m not sure if it was because my tongue numbed my taste buds because my entire dinner tasted like nothing(Turns out, my tongue was okay since I tried eating other stuff at home and could taste it like chocolate milk and fruit). I tried eating this red sauce that was next to the«Very spicy» sauce and it didn’t taste a bit spicy, nor did it taste like anything. I ordered 2 asada tacos and 2 pastor tacos. The pastor meat was quite different from what I usually ordered, the meat looked rather big and super dry looking. Even the limes could not add any flavor to the tacos, I was so disappointed. Usually when I am hungry, everything tastes so good, but all I could taste was texture. This has never happened to me while eating something and I was so sad because I LOVETACOS! I can eat them anytime and will never be bored. Customer service was okay. The servers stood by the food window the whole time and moved only to bring food out to customers or else they would just stand there and talk about their personal lives. I did, however, get one taco home to bring togo. I knew I wasn’t going to finish it because it had no taste, but I didn’t want to throw it out. Gave it to a homeless man later though.

Worth waiting in line for. I ordered the super giant burrito because how could I pass up a dish by that name. No joke, it was super giant and made for 4 meals for me. We decided it’s a family burrito. Haha Service was friendly and the place was busy. I will definitely be back!

Our favorite pit stop heading up to Tahoe from Bay Area. Excellent, reasonably priced taqueria conveniently located right of highway 80. Quick service too.

4.5 stars. Marinated steak burrito with steak stuffed from top to bottom. Enough said. But if you must know more… The service was sweet n quick. Though if you come in at noon, expect a line. A big spoonful of meat, onions, and cilantro rest on top of 2 soft corn tortillas that’s just big enough for you to fold and eat without anything spilling out. A marinated steak super burrito with all the usual fixings neatly tucked into a roughly foot long burrito. With each bite, you get an equal amount of rice and meat with a little bit of pico de gallo, sour cream and guacamole chiming in. I think the marinated meat is done really well; you can taste the flavor of the steak and marinade without the marinade being over powering. If only they had better salsa for the chips, I would put them on par with LA restaurants… but for Davis, it’s the BEST.

My boyfriend and I always come here whenever we’re craving a burrito. You can’t complain when this place has free chips and refills! I really like their salsa bar because they have a variety of sauces, pickled veggies, and pico de gallo. I usually order a regular(they offer«super burrito» too) lengua burrito w/grill onions(no additional charge!!). Their lengua is so good and they don’t skimp on you either! Each bite is seriously fulfilling. I usually only finish half my burrito since the size of the regular burrito is pretty decent. Atmosphere: the inside is kind of small, but they do have tables that will seat at least six people. the outdoor patio is really refreshing and it makes a great place to take someone one a date! Don’t be surprise if there’s a line when you go! It’s usually pretty busy around lunch and dinner time. If you have the app Opt-town, this restaurant has a «buy 10 burrito and get 1 free» stamp!

This place has a really laid back vibe. I always order a regular burrito with black beans and chicken and that’s honestly enough for me. Favorite part about this place: the self serve chips and different sauces. Food is served promptly and staff are extremely friendly. I would recommend this place to anyone! And it is not expensive at all. Promise! GETSOMEHORCHATA! You won’t be mad.

Lunch stop on a Friday. The line was out the door, but moved quickly. Order at the register from the friendly patriarch of this family run place. Two taco combo with asada and barbacoa chosen from a long list of meat options. Self serve chips and salsa. The chips are thick, a hint greasy, but satisfying. The salsa bar offered five different salsas, pickled veggies, and pico de gallo. I sampled the salsa verde and an unnamed red salsa with high heat content. Worthy of sweating, burning lips and hiccups. The combo sides of black beans and rice were okay, nothing special. The promised guacamole was about one and a half tablespoons of thin mixture of avocado, verde salsa, and pico de gallo. However, it tastes good on the tacos. The horchata was okay. I’ve had better, but this was just fine, if mild. Patio seating on a 68 degree day under trees was quite enjoyable. They bring the food to the table.

One of our favs in Davis. Really good refried beans and the best horchata we’ve had. Free refills and chips. Good size burritos. Have good daily specials, especially love their mole. Had their chile relleno meal last time and it was good. The refried beans were orange but I remember they used to be brown. This is next to the Nugget on Mace by the highway. There’s another location in Davis but we went here more. It’s smaller but they have outdoor seating. We used to live by this one and I’d pick up our weekly order, usually mole, with my personal assistant(PA). When we got to the apartment, I played«ding dong ditch the Mexican food» on my sister, leaving the food bag on the doorstep and having my PA ring the doorbell and run away.

Not impressed. I ordered the Carnitas Nacho Fries. The service was moderately slow, food took a long time to come out, there were only about 6 customers so not overly busy. When my order came up it sat in the window for nearly 5 minutes. Multiple staff walked by and didn’t deliver it to my table. I finally got up and got it myself. The fries were rather soft and oily. The carnitas I self was very flavorful but the dish as a whole lacked cohesiveness and texture. Maybe had I received it promptly the fries would have been better?!? Very disappointed.

Unfortunately when their busy, I wouldn’t suggest coming. Service is good(hence the 2 stars) but their food is nasty and dry and cold when their busy. Every table was taken and some had big parties. I ordered a ceviche tostada. Someone should warn you that this comes on a crispy tortilla with some ceviche mixed with Pico de Gallo on top-nothing else. Would it kill them to add some lettuce? avocado? Something! Then the Carne asada tacos were so dry I had to dip them in Pico juice to make them go down. This was because the meat is completely cold, cooked… but cold. And don’t let the menu fool you. They don’t come with cut up onions and radishes on top. It’s diced onions and like 3 slices of radish on the side of the plate. With all that said and done… ceviche was bomb. But… then I found a hair. Looked behind their little window where you can see the kitchen and men do not have hair nets on. So now I’m completely grossed out and as much as I love the endless salsa bar, probably not going back. Be aware of busy times and hair on your plate!

This place is one of them spots that you second guess bout being good till you take the first bite. I dont live out in davis so i dont come out to this place often, it might be a good thing that i dont cuz then i would probably gain alot if weight haha I’ve been here twice and both times i’ve had the chilaquiles the first time i had the red and the second time i had the green ones. From what i remember the red ones were good i liked the green ones they had small chunks of meat but i prefer the taste of tomatoes so im going to stick to the red, YAAYYAAY! Haha They do give u alot of food for the money that you pay tho i will admit that and the food is really tasty i look forward to coming back ive only had the breakfast here but i might want to try other stuff here because they do things right here.
