The large slide is fun but the play structure is super far away. One kid wanted to play and one wanted to slide and it was too far to let them do it at the same time :(

Any park that has a concrete slide gets 5 stars in my book! I basically grew up with a concrete slide park back home in San Jose and then after moving to Davis for college, I was ecstatic to see that there was one here in town. Concrete slides are fun for people of all ages whether you’re a young daring child or a college student with possibly low inhibitions. This concrete slide is kind of at the corner of the park. It’s pretty wide, so 2 peopel can go down at once racing each other. The slide in my opinion is short, but it is steep and you do pick up speed by the end. I’ve never been able to get a graceful exit/landing off the slide. It basically ends with me face planting into the pile of cardboard and tanbark. But what’s a little fun without some cool battle scars to remember it by. Besides the slide, the park itself is very big! I’ve been here to celebrate many picnics/bbqs and there’s picnic tables, large open grass areas, a basketball court, and also tennis courts. There’s also a community pool here too! BYOCardboard — or a little PRO-TIP from a girl who grew up in an Asian neighborhood — use an empty rice sack instead. You’ll go A LOT faster.

So many great aspects to this park. 1st of all, as the name implies, the huge concrete slide! I’m sad to admit I’ve only gone out to this place a handful of time during my 4 years in Davis, and I definitely regret not coming more often. Make sure to bring some cardboard and some friends and get ready for a good time. 2nd, this is the only park in Davis where they allow drinking. Can you say«Sloshball». Yep, that’s right, kickball + beer. Best part is that despite this, the park is maintained very clean! There’s a lot of space for other family friendly activities as well. Plenty of parking!

The name of this place says it all! This park is located in East Davis and is a great place for all ages! This place has basketball courts, a playground, a huge field to play on, BBQ pits, and a pool area with a few water slides to play on. This review goes specifically to the huge concrete slide since that is what my friends and I came for originally when we decided to go here. Come with either a small cardboard or a huge long one so you can slide down the steep concrete slide. With the small cardboard you can slide down by yourself or if you come with the huge long one you can slide down 2 at a time. I have done both, but I would say that sliding down by yourself is safer… first hand experience. Wear comfortable shoes that you don’t mind getting messed up in because you will use them to slow down your speed if you are too scared to go fast. Be prepared to get a few scratches and a few bruises on your butt. Other than that, this slide is very exhilarating and fun! A few tips: –Bring your own cardboard. There are a few there but you should probably bring your own just in case. –Wear comfortable shoes –You might want to wear long pants or a long sleeve if you don’t want to get scratches or bruises. –Don’t be scared, you only live once.

Cute little park where you can slide off a giant concrete hill on a piece of cardboard and hope your butt is okay. :P It reminds me of a smaller slide hill back home that I used to go to as a kid. ;’) Those were good times. Anyways, the park is right next to the community pool and a playground. This is a great place to take kids out for a day to have a picnic, go for a swim, play on the swings and slide down the hill. There’s cardboard there left from other people, but it’s probably best to BYOC since some of the cardboard there is worn out.

Wheeeeeee! Coasting down huge concrete slide on dinky piece of cardboard=best stress reliever ever. Don’t let the cardboard come out from under you or you’ll get a$$burned. It’s not just for kids :)

Everyone I know who lives in the neighborhood of Slide Hill Park just loves it. The lots are big; the trees are big; the houses are fairly charming(by Davis standards). It’s a great neighborhood all around. Here’s more about east Davis,

I’ve been to Slide Hill Park many many times over the years for my friend’s kids birthday party BBQ and pool parties. Located in the east Davis neighborhood off of Covell Blvd, Slide Hill has a community pool area for a modest entry fee. It’s an affordable and great way to bring the family out together to cool down in the hot Davis summer heat. There’s also a basketball court, two softball fields, a playground, tennis courts, and a BBQ area as well. There’s plenty of parking near the pool area but it fills up quickly when the pool area opens so that leaves the latecomers to fight for it on the nearby residential streets. The picnic areas and softball fields can be reserved with the City of Davis in advance for a fee but otherwise, it’s first come, first serve. I’ve come here before where the birthday party comes to set up and there were people who were already there, unaware that a reservation was forthcoming… This park really has something for everyone so I’m quite jealous of any nearby Davis residents who live near this gem of a park. Too bad San Jose doesn’t have something as good as this park in our neighborhoods!
