Seriously SO good! I wasn’t expecting it to be as tasty and fresh as it was considering they sell salmon bowls for $ 6. $ 6!!! But the salmon was perfectly baked and flaky like it should be. Tasted very fresh with yummy seasonings too. The veggies are boiled, but have flavor to them too! I definitely want to come here again. Perfect filling lunch for anyone that needs a quick, inexpensive, and filling bite to eat. I found my new go-to place when I’m craving fish!

Big portions for the entrees… I usually go there for the weekday specials. Wednesday — chicken katsu $ 5 ***they raised the price to $ 6 now*** No biggie, you get your money’s worth. Have a beer while you wait — you get your food fast BTW.

Their Cajun shrimp is reminiscent of boiling crab! If you’re craving for a fixing of BC shrimp but don’t want to go all the way to Sac, their Cajun shrimp isn’t too far off. The sauce is really yummy, spicy in a good way, and it comes with rice! Such a good deal.

What a gem in Davis. It’s such a surprise that they serve superb seafood at such a low price.(If you’re a college student you’ll love this place) We ordered: 2 shrimp taco combo meal $ 7.25 –The taco was loaded with shrimp about 7, while most taco places skimp out and give you like 3. The shrimp was full of that deliciously charred flavored which matched well with their colorful slaw. –The fries that came with the meal is probably the 3rd best fries next to in-n-out and wingstop. They were golden to a crisp and carried a crunch at each bite. They didn’t need any extra seasoning like potato corner, just the simple salt and pepper. –You can’t get it wrong when a taco is made this good. love it 10⁄10 Steamed clams $ 7.99 –This came in a beer bucket, need I say more? The amount that came with the order was quiet surprising because at such a price they gave me the same amount that would cost about $ 16.99 at your local Boiling Crab. With the entrée’ comes a side of brown rice, white rice or steamed veggies. –With items like this it’s always appropriate to compare it to Boiling Crab because that place is the staple of cajun seafood. So in comparison, the cajun clams that I ordered(you can also get it lemon pepper) was about a pound, very plump and absolutely fresh also 8 dollars cheaper than BC. The sauce was the best cajun sauce that I have placed on my tastebuds, it is easily better than Boiling Crab, Kickin Crab, Rockin’ Crawfish and any other cajun seafood place that you can name. The sauce was not super greasy and not too overwhelming, there was a generous amount of garlic and the consistency of the sauce was more on the water side. While at BC, the sauce is super oily, super greasy, and just loaded with sticks of butter; also the flavor of BC sticks in your mouth hours after you eat it. –Fresh clams at well under market price, it makes me wonder how much better can it get? 10⁄10 If in the area, this should be the first place you should eat, very friendly environment, very friendly service, and very friendly servings of fresh off the bay seafood. I’ll be coming here easily within the next two days.

Very well cooked salmon with Cajun seasoning. If ya’ll have read my reviews on Unilocal then it might be surprising to many why a foodie like me would show up in a health food place like this but hey once in a while I get those health bling blings too. The Cajun salmon plate I ordered was just perfect example of health food with veggies, brown rice and nicely flavored salmon. Definitely a must try for those trying to get a healthy lunch in Davis

The«healthier» option compared to Ohana’s, the location in UMall. This is a great place for a typical college student to find some fast, cheap lunch on their way back to campus. The portions are decent, and the price is within the student’s budget. It is definitely not my first choice if I wanted to dine out in Downtown Davis, but once in a while, I do crave their chicken katsu or grilled tilapia. Also love their brown rice option. It’s basically my «attempt» to eat healthy hahaha

Best for a quick and relatively healthy meal! I love getting the salmon bowls($ 5 every day!) or their Barramundi(or tilapia) Tuesday deal! I used to come here to get some work done, but I don’t think they have WiFi any more. You can still access the City of Davis WiFi, but that’s super limited. They do have a lot of TVs though.

Dot Island Grill(formerly known as Fish’s Wild) is healthy, filling, and fairly priced! What’s not to love? The fish here is always cooked perfectly. My personal favorite is the salmon with garlic butter — you get to choose between garlic butter, lemon paper, and cajun for the flavor/seasoning you want on your fish. I love how they give you steamed veggies and your choice of white or brown rice as the sides! Besides the fish, another popular dish here is the chicken katsu. They give you a pretty big portion — way more than Ohana’s — and it also comes with a side of steamed veggies. If you come on Wednesdays, the katsu is only $ 5(price might have increased by $ 1 or so, I’m not too sure) since that’s their daily special. Now onto the drinks — This place has the cheapest beer in all of Davis, hands down! It’s $ 6 for an entire pitcher, which fills about 3 – 4 beers, depending how full they’re poured). They only have three types of beers to choose from though(Pacifico, Hefeweizen, and Sierra), but hey, can’t complain too much for the price!

This is the perfect place for a college student who wants to eat semi-healthy and cheap! Everyone know’s college students are on a budget, and this place definitely caters to those students! First, they have specials everyday, for only $ 6 bucks! It’s different everyday, Tuesday is talapia, Wednesday is chicken katsu, forgot what the other days were. You have a choice of different flavors, cajun, garlic butter, lemon pepper etc, and you can fix ‘em if you want! You can pick between white or brown rice for you healthy eaters, and each plate comes with a side of mixed vegatables! The talapia with cajun and garlic butter is my favorite, along with the chicken katsu. Portion sizes are just enough to fill you up, maybe even some to go! What more can you ask for! Second, for you beer enthusiast, they have $ 6 pitchers! Pretty sure it’s still 6, WINNING! You can get faded and enjoy some good food! Services has always’ been stellar here, definitely one of my favorite spots to have a good quick meal!

Stopped by for lunch on Saturday and was very satisfied with my experience. Ordered the salmon plate with veggies and brown rice and got nothing less than what I asked for. The fish was perfectly seasoned with lemon pepper seasoning and tasted like fresh fish! The rice and veggies were also cooked well and came in great portions. I was also surprised with how affordable it all was!

4.5 stars. Always great. I usually get the combo taco with the shrimp and salmon. The seafood tastes great and they don’t skimp on the shrimp! Which is why I always come back. The slaw on the tacos are also really great as well. A pet peeve of mine is when restaurants serve unripe mangoes, but not this place. The mangoes in the slaw are always on point. And the BEST part is their fries. This place probably is my favorite place to get fries(other than in n out). I also enjoy the tartar sauce and the other selection of condiments. My ONLY issue is their soda machine. Every time I go the soda is really flat, there’s no carbonation at all. Which is okay because it forces me to drink water or lemonade. But I think it’s something that could be easily fixed. One of my favorite places in Davis. The perfect college meal!

Another pleasant surprise! My husband and I walked by here once and thought it smelled delicious, so we made a special trip back to Davis to try it. I’ve had the salmon twice, and he’s had the Katsu. The prices are very reasonable, especially if you catch a weekly special — whoa, $ 6 for a huge portion of chicken Katsu and rice? Can’t be beat. We expected that, since it was a special, it would be premade and soggy. Not the case! The katsu here is much better than casual Hawaiian places like L&L and prices are way better than restaurants like Mikuni. I also really enjoyed my fish plates. They come with brown rice and steamed veggies, which you can sub out for other items if you aren’t into delicious things. I was admittedly nervous that it would be some of that mushy and overcooked stuff, but the brown rice was well-cooked, soft and buttery. The fish wasn’t the highest quality ever, but it, too, was well-cooked and flavorful. I liked the spicy Cajun seasoning most(so far.) The service was great! Their cashiers explained the menu items patiently and helped us figure out how to get exactly what my picky husband wanted :) This is one of our favorite places right now. It’s even located in a quiet area of downtown so there’s actually parking right in front, AND it’s only a short walk from Icecreamski. Happy sigh…

I really appreciate this place for being so chill. Whenever I go out with my friends and we say we want something healthy I feel like we always end up here! There’s not many seafood places in Davis but this place makes up for it if you’re looking for something cheap and close by! The salmon is good if you flavor it more yourself with some lemon and pepper. I mean honestly you can’t go wrong on how you cook salmon the dish practically cooks itself. Katsu is good and is exactly like Ohana’s/Ono’s which is cool for the $ 5 bowl and more variety. The shrimp is also really flavorful if you’re too lazy to drive all the way to Sac for Boiling Crab/Firehouse and you just want a quick bucket shrimp fix! I’m also always here sometimes just to drink beer with friends. I would’ve given this place 5 stars but since they raised the price of their pitchers from $ 6 to $ 8 some things don’t last forever): But just grab some fries(they’re the best in my opinion) and some good friends with your pitcher and you’re always assured a good time!

This place is really fresh! The salmon bowl is my favorite, but I really like my carbs and I wish I got a basket of fries too. I finished my salmon bowl but I felt like I needed something salty. This place is good for the price though. $ 5 for a good salmon bowl. I guess I could have just gotten a bowl of fried squid or something too so I could have been satisfied, but my friend and I were rollin’ on a strict budget. My salmon bowl came with vegetables and brown rice. The brown rice is really good, squeeze some lemon on top and it’s even more bomb! They have sriracha, tapatio, and tarter sauce!

Late night food. We weren’t craving them burritos, but Price: Look to spend about $ 8 per dish. Parking: Lot for the plaza. Service: fast food like. Drinks & Food: HUGE portions. I ordered their plate of the day which included a piece of fish, rice, and some steamed/stir fried veggies. It was filling and healthy. You get to pick what sauce you want. Notes: Refreshing quick lunch

I can understand how. island grill can be a regular go to place, but there is no way that it should be 4*. The eats are generous and the perfect compliment to the $ 8 pitchers of draft beer. If I were going to Davis and on a tight budget, there is nothing finer than getting plenty of greasy fried food and pitchers of ice cold Pacifico, Sierra Nevada, or Sudwerk beer. .island has several of the other inexpensive L&L type Hawaiian plates. But, the food is std Hawaiian grill where value is often mistaken for quality. .island is the perfect place for the intramural softball team but not for a night out with your girl friend.

This is my go-to place when I’m too busy to cook and want something healthy and cheap. FOOD: I always get the salmon or chicken bowl. They come with steamed veggies, a good amount of protein and brown rice as a option is always a bonus for me :) It may look like a small portion is actually pretty filling! I’ve also tried their chicken katsu, which I like better than Ohana because they include veggies and brown rice and taste less grease and more crispy to me. SERVICE: quick and friendly AMBIANCE: very spacious and plenty of seating.

This place has daily deals so it’s great when you’re on a budget. I like to get their Tuesday special which is the grilled Tilapia. There are a variety of seasonings that you can get it done in such as house sauce, lemon pepper, garlic butter. I also like their Wednesday special which is the chicken katsu. The chicken katsu here are better then at Ohana’s. It’s not as greasy/fatty and it comes with veggies! Service is super quick here, especially when you’re ordering to go. However, parking is kinda hard to find depending on the time since it’s located right in the middle of downtown. Sometimes I spend more time finding parking then waiting for me to go order. This place isn’t bad to come and study because it’s not to loud in there. There’s also a good amount of TVs in there. It’s a great place to come here to chill with your friends with their $ 6 pitcher deals while watching a game.

$ 6BEERPITCHERS! Just. Do. It. I prefer Dot Island Grill’s Hawaiian food waaaay more than Ohana’s. I heard their owned by the same owner, but the prices and quality is different. Dot Island Grill doesn’t charge for veggies, it comes with the meal. They also give more short ribs and chicken katsu than Ohana does! Yay, protein and veggies: D. Big scoops of rice too! Even if I were to live in North Davis, I would travel to South Davis(passing Ohana’s), just to get Dot Island Grill. The food is average, kinda pricey, but nothing too out of the ordinary. It’s an easy«to-go place» for those hardcore studying days. TIP: WEDNESDAYIS $ 5CHICKENKATSUDAY!

This place never disappoints! Quality food for affordable prices! Dot Island Grill(formerly known as Fishes Wild) specializes in their seafood dishes. They have everything from $ 5 Salmon bowls, to $ 7 pound of steamed shrimp(I recommend the lemon pepper flavor) and your choice of brown/white rice; which is comparable to Boiling Crab’s nearly $ 15 deal. This place also has weekday deals featuring foods like chicken katsu, fish & chips, and even $ 6 pitchers of beer on Wednesdays! Come check out this place if you’re in Davis for unbeatable deals that’ll have your taste buds roaring!
