My best friend who goes to UC Davis took me out to this place for dinner when I came to visit. When we got there it was pretty busy but they told us it would only be a 15 – 20 minute wait. We were seated right away. The ambiance is true to it’s Irish theme. We ordered the pork belly wings and they were the star of our meal. We both got the bacon cheeseburger. It was okay. It’s a normal burger that doenst have anything special. My best friend got the traditional chips and I got crispy chips. The traditional chips, French fries, were too thick and the crispy chips were soggy. It was disappointing to say the least.

Came here for my first Sunday brunch that didn’t include alcohol because I was too alcoholed up from the night before. Bad decision. Should’ve done bottomless mimosas! Price: Look to spend about $ 10 – 15 per item on the menu Parking: street Food: Corned beef hash was okay. Some may like their irish bread but other people say it’s thick and dry. I think I’ll come back and have some mimosas with my brunch. That might make the food taste better!

We had an interesting experience at De Vere’s. We arrived fifteen minutes before happy hour ended so we wanted to get our order in quickly. However, the host told us there was a wait to be seated and then apologized 20 minutes later because she’d «forgotten» us. So we missed happy hour and just sat there for 20 minutes while she sat other people… Our«waitress» was not really a waitress, we maybe saw her twice and she only asked if we were ready to order, no pleasantries at all. I asked her for drink recommendations and told her I liked sweeter things. The drink she recommended was was very bitter and I didn’t finish it. If you’re not really looking for customer service, maybe the food is good here. I’d give it another try but the service really fell though for us.

I’m a huge fan of this place. They have a great selection of whisky and they pour a great Guinness! You would think that with such a good selection of drinks that the food would be average but that is far from the case. The chicken sandwich with goat cheese is wonderful, the mac n cheese was one of the best I’ve ever had, and the sticky toffee pudding is melt in your mouth. Don’t shy away from this delightful pub!

De Vere’s is an amazing place and definitely something you should add onto your Davis Bucketlist. The vibe of the joint is totally cool and somewhat hipster. When you walk into the place, it looks like you entered someone’s really fancy house. If my memory serves me right, they have board games and books on some of the shelves. Super chill vibes in here. They’re one of the two places in Davis that does Bottomless mimosas on the weekends, and so you can imagine how busy they can get. Came here with a couple of my friends to see what the buzz was all about. We spent about $ 30 per person for all you can drink alcohol and a meal. It was well worth it because we were happily full and drunk by the end of the meal. I’m giving it four stars for the experience, but in all honesty, I can make a better mimosa at home, for cheaper probably. Food was decent, not too shabby, but not as good as some breakfast joints I’ve had before. I probably try egg benedicts at every brunch place I go to, but this one did not leave an impression. In any case, they’ve got some really good Irish food though. Check this place out, if not for the alcohol or food, at least do it for the ambiance.

Just recently came here on a Sunday afternoon, around 12PM. It was crowded but there was no wait, we were seated immediately by the window. This is a good place to grab some comfort food and catch up with friends! Service is alright and food is also just alright, nothing spectacular here. Food: I’ve had the shepherd’s pie(~$ 9) and fish and chips(~$ 13) here so far, I tasted a bit of the Irish coffee as well. I loved the shepherds pie, it comes in a large or half portion — I opted for the half portion and it was very filling! It was cooked well and the presentation was lovely. I had no complaints about the pie. The Irish coffee was also delicious — I can see myself coming back to get it for those windy days in Davis. The presentation of the fish and chips was great too! That was one of the only good things about the fish and chips though. The fries were okay — some were too soggy and others had a delicious crisp. The fish itself sat on top of the fries and had a delicious batter but the batter was coated on too thick and the whole fish seemed to fall apart completely when I bit into it. Thick batter + fish falling apart definitely is not what I look for when I get fish and chips. Still, the presentation was really nice and the first few bites were good — it’s just the more you eat it, the oilier it feels — it just doesn’t sit well and it’s too messy to eat. The fish and chips also come with a slaw and tartar + ketchup sauce on the side. It still tasted okay, just not amazing. Service: Service is slow — they tend to ignore you if there’s not too many people around too. I’ve found that during more crowded days the service actually gets better than when it’s empty. The servers here are also kind of impatient, which I don’t really get considering how slow the service is. I feel a little rushed every time I order here and then I wait awhile for the meal. For the rest of the meal they just leave you alone until you’re done. Ambiance: If you don’t get a seat near the few window areas that this establishment has, it feels like you’re dining at night even in the middle of the day. I sometimes forget that it’s daytime while I’m in Devere’s because it’s so SO dark inside. I went at night the first time I went so I couldn’t really see my food at all. That being said, the place is really charming, lots of wooden tables and chairs and plenty of floor space. It’s much bigger than it looks from the outside! I’d recommend the shepherd’s pie and Irish coffee — if you’re looking for a place to just chill and eat with friends on the weekend this place is great! A little on the pricey side, but portions are pretty big and the food is pretty good so far.

The second we arrived at my Aunt’s house I was really hungry so she took us all here for lunch. We got a nice big booth right when we walked in that fit all ten of us. I liked the atmosphere here, it was a nice warm pub. It was cool that they had Davis fire and police uniforms on display too. Our waitress was nice and got right to taking drink orders. It was a sort of early lunch so I got a virgin Bloody Mary. It took some time for everyone to get their drinks since there were so many of us. My drink was pretty spicy. At first I liked it, but after a few more sips it kinda gave me a tummy ache. It tasted like there were big chunks of black pepper in it, but I think it was just because there were minced pieces of horseradish in it. A couple other people got Bloody Mary’s too and they said theirs weren’t as spicy as mine. A little bit after we got all our drinks our waitress took our orders. I got the pork belly wings because it sounded very interesting and different, and their house salad with chicken. We all relaxed comfortably in our seats and chatted while waiting for our food. All our food came near the same time. I got the pork belly wings first and then the house salad with chicken soon after. I tried the pork belly first, I really liked how it was plated. The pork belly was crispy and not too fatty, but the sauce was a bit heavy with the vinegar. I think next time I’ll get the sauce on the side. I liked the chopped celery and blue cheese on the plate. The celery gave the dish some much needed freshness and the blue cheese was in big chunks. The salad was good, the chicken was cooked perfectly but it was too salty. I also tried my parents dishes. My Dad got the fish and chips. I had some of his fish and I really liked it. It was crispy and the fish was flaky and delicious. My Mom got the Shepard’s Pie and it was the best thing I ate here. The filling was rich and beefy and the potatoes were fluffy and filling. If I come back here I’m 100% getting the Shepard’s pie. It ended up being a nice lunch that helped my hunger pangs.

I had two really good visits here. The first time I had a delicious pimento beer cheese with chips. The second time I had shepherds pie. I heard the chef makes his own sausage. Of course the drinks were delicious too! The service was really good that last time I was there. The waitress was very pleasant, had a great smile, and was attentive without smothering us. It was busy that afternoon too! She did a great job during a busy lunch rush. De Vere’s has a great atmosphere, good drinks, and hearty tasty food. I really enjoy the place. The only thing missing is a good Irish band. Bottoms up!

I’ve always been here to drink but never to eat. I have a weird thing about eating at bars(maybe it’s the knowledge of potentially mixing vomit and food? Irrational I know but it’s my own crazy mind). I gave this place a shot today since it is a rainy Sunday and reminiscent of good old English country(I realize it’s an Irish bar but I’ve only been to English country so using that as a reference). Décor: very dim but well decorated in an old pub style with plenty of seating space. The ceiling is gorgeous with warm tone lighting and very clean. Tables and chairs are a bit wobbly but it kind of adds to that old charm they seem to be going for. Service: ok. Not spectacular and not horrendous. Just ok. Friendly but vacant type personalities. Food: the biscuits and gravy were great! Biscuits were fluffy on the inside with a beautiful crunchy crust on the outside. The gravy had good amount of sausage chunks but needed a healthy addition of pepper to give a bit more flavor. The Fry Up had a PERFECTLY poached egg and something wondrous called BROWNBREAD with real butter that I’m pretty sure I would buy by the loaf if able. Sausages are distinctly Irish with a peppery flavor without all the salt. The bread pudding they had on the other hand… WEIRD. Not bad… Just weird. Prepare for it be LOUD and crowded for brunch so come a bit earlier if you can. I will be back De Vere’s.

Great food and atmosphere! Before today I had only been here for department happy hour but now I’ll frequent this place for both beer and food! Came here with a friend and we got the large Shepherd’s Pie($ 13) and large Bangers and Mash($ 14). They both tasted divine! The bangers and mash came out not as hot as I would have liked but the Shepherd’s Pie was piping hot. Both dishes were very large and there were a lot of leftovers. The bangers and mash came with seasonal veggies which were spaghetti squash and kale. I recommend this place to anyone and I’m definitely coming back here again!

Bar hopping must-stop! Strongly recommend the pub chips as a late night snack while you are drinking! Cocktail wise: I would recommend cosmopolitan and Moscow mule for girls. Personally i love the cosmopolitan the best cause it’s sweet and fruity. The atmosphere is great! Great for friends hangout and talk!

I went with my good girl friend for brunch on one fine, sunny morning to this cozy pub. It took a bit of time for us to get seated, but we managed to nab a decent little table outdoors, where we could get a little bit of morning sun. When our server came to us, I went ahead and got the zucchini/aka veggie omelette with brown Irish bread. My friend got a egg scramble with meat and mash(potato of course!) — I believe it was a farmer’s plate? I’m not too sure since it was a while ago. Though the service took a bit of time, my friend and I just chatted and watched other people in the outdoor area. We got our food and hungrily dug in– and I have to say… though it was delicious, I have had better. Irish food is definitely the way to go if you want your stomach to be full for a few hours beyond noon(at least. for me), but if you want to walk around feeling light and ready to move– perhaps this is not the place to go. I liked the omelette– but I honestly have a greater impression of the potato sides. The bread wasn’t that impressionable on me. My friend’s choice– scrambled eggs with meat and potato mash underneath– was definitely more hearty and more delicious than mine! I would probably get that the next time I visited this place for breakfast… the next time I come back to Davis! XD TL;DR– Breakfast review, its a hearty breakfast so don’t be a wimp and get the meaty, potatoey stuff: D

My husband and I stopped in here for breakfast on a Saturday morning. We sat at the bar and were greeted immediately by the bartender. We ordered a couple beers and I ordered the breakfast burrito. Wow. This was probably the best breakfast burrito I’ve every had! Everything they put into it was amazing. It was pretty big so I could only eat half. If you have a small appetite like I do in the morning, I would recommend sharing! De Vere’s Irish Pub in Davis has a great beer selection, great service and delicious food!

As I traveled to the city of Davis, I decided to take a lunch break at De Vere’s Irish Pub on 10/20/2015. This is their 2nd location for this local restaurant after their opening of the original location at the Downtown neighborhood in Sacramento years ago. As I entered, the atmosphere is quite good, relaxing and comforting. The concept remains the same as the original location goes with all the vintage Irish pub feel and the lights too. Of course, this place has a good outdoor patio near the entrance door and the right side of the small building, so you can enjoy dining outside in the streets of Downtown Davis. The employees are very friendly and approachable as I welcomed there. No cons at all! For the food entrée, I ordered the Granny’s Shepard’s Pie with a sunny side-up egg on top. So far after I ate it, it tasted simply delicious! The egg on top cooked very well and tasty. The mashed potatoes is very smooth and elegant, so I can complete the entrée entirely. The rest of the ingredients of the Shepard’s Pie like peas, carrots, onions, and cooked ground beef works fantastic! I can feel the ingredients very dreamy and wonderful as I take a huge bite. What a great lunch for me! The parking can be an issue for the 2nd location of De Vere’s Irish Pub in Davis. You can park it at the surface street parking for 2 hours validation nor the public paid parking. Otherwise, you can ride a bike, walk, or use public transportation easier without the hassles. All in all, De Vere’s Irish Pub at Davis is the finest, and the coolest Irish Pub right in the small city of Davis. Perfect for friends/family gatherings, nightouts, and happy hour pleasures. A well, worthy visit!

You know how pub food are usually good anyways? Well De Vere’s food is moreee than good! Beyonddd good! I hope I emphasized that enough. Yes I’m 21, yes I enjoy Irish coffee and mimosa. But this time I just came for food. I chose to sit outside with my party(beware of flies) and they have a nice little patio. I ordered, Salmon BLT sandwich $ 12.75, but because I don’t eat bacon, I had it replaced with avocado for no extra charge, SWEET! They literally gave me probably almost the whole avocado, they certainly weren’t stingy about it. But that’s not even the best part, the way the grilled their salmon is just amazing. I dont know what magic they put on it, but it tasted fresh and very crispy on the outside. Probably one of the best sandwiches I’ve ever had. My other friends ordered their bacon burger $ 12 and the Battle burger $ 16 with BACONJAM(i didnt even know that’s a thing). Bacon burger was regular burger with bacon and battle burger had A LOT of blue cheese in it. So if you are not a fan, make sure to ask for less cheese! As for the sides, I recommend the soup(definitely soup if its Friday Clam Chowder) or their crisp. Cheers!

De Vere’s has been one of my favorite places in Davis even before I turned 21. They have really good hearty food and it’s a great place to hang out with friends. I love their weekend brunches, especially in summer, when there aren’t as many people around. I always order the Irish Bacon Eggs Benedict and my boyfriend always gets the Shepard’s Pie. We have tasted most of the other dishes(when we take friends and family and they order other entrees), but have settled on these two as our staples. The Shepard’s Pie looks great when it comes out. The topping of mashed potatoes has a thin line of char on the edges as it whips out of the dish. The ratio of potato to meat is great and you can get a nice bite every time. The meat filling is always really nice and while I can finish a whole order, my boyfriend does happily. My only critique with this dish is that it could really use salt, but that is more of a taste thing. The Eggs Benny are so amazing. This was the first place that I tried eggs this way at, and have yet to find a better creation of the dish anywhere else. The way their hollandaise sauce is not to tart or too creamy or too sweet, really hits the mark with me. They usually cook the eggs medium, but they also make sure to ask how you want the eggs to be cooked. In some visits, I have had issues with the English muffin base(burnt) and the potatoes that come on the side(no flavor), but they are not enough to deter me for trying the dish again and expecting the same quality that I had when I fell in love with the dish. With the weekend brunch, you can also get mimosas. We usually get the Almost Bottomless Orange Juice Mimosas, and on our last two trips, have drank about a bottle of champagne each. It usually leaves us pretty useless for the rest of the day, so we make sure we have nothing important planned. I believe they have recently increased their prices, and it now costs $ 12 per person, but is still worth it in my opinion. I don’t just go to De Vere’s for brunch, but also for dinner and after dinner drinks. It’s just got a cool overall vibe and great design and decoration. Plus they always have Guinness on tap, which I love. Based on my high praise, I feel I should explain why this is not a 5-star. It’s mainly for the inconsistency in taste mentioned before that I have experienced and somewhat come to expect. However, like I said, I haven’t been deterred yet, and I plan on continuing to tasting new items here. They also have trivia night, which I look forward to trying out!

Probably my favorite place in Davis for dinner or just a drink. De Vere’s has some awesome food and offers a great selection of beers and other alcoholic beverages. It is also home of a Trivia Night every Mondays! + Food Try the Shepherd’s Pie! And don’t forget to ask for an egg on top! The Granny’s Shepherd’s Pie is the most popular dish here at De Vere’s. If mashed potatoes and gravy is not your thing, try the Mac and Cheese dish with bacon! Have the munchies? Get the the Pub Chips! Excellent shareable when enjoying a night of drinking with your friends. The Pub Chips are similar to Poutine: just fries with mushroom gravy and some cheese. $ 3.00OFF during Happy Hour(M-F 3:30pm — 6:30pm)! Other dishes to consider: Bangers and Mash and the Pork Belly wings! Additionally, De Vere’s is a solid place for brunch with some good eggs benedicts dishes. + The Place Great ambiance and décor! They have board/card games inside(Cards Against Humanity!) and the patio is nice if you want to eat outside for brunch/lunch/and or dinner and to enjoy the warm summer. The staff is friendly. Exceptional service… every time I’ve been here so far. If you’re not in Davis, De Vere’s is also located in Downtown Sacramento.
