I brought my bike in because the back tire was flat. The mechanic fixed the flat and they charged me approximately $ 15. However, the tire was flat the very next morning and since it was a Sunday and they were closed, I took my bike to another bike shop and they fixed the flat and explained to me what the problem was. If the first mechanic had spent a few extra minutes on the bike, he would have been able to find out what the real problem was. I took the tube with the hole in it, the rim tape and both receipts to this store a few days later because I wanted to get my money back. The employee tried to argue with me and he put up a fight about refunding the $ 15. I finally asked him to talk to a manager about it and he went to the back of the store and came back a minute later. Apparently, the owner’s wife was in the back office and she agreed to refund the entire amount. Seeing as how it only took him a minute, I find it hard to believe there was anyone back there that he discussed the situation with. Why put up a fight when you know your mechanic was in the wrong? Customer service is very important seeing as how bikes shops are all over the place around here. This shop is actually lucky I gave it 2 stars instead of one since they finally gave me the refund. Will I every bring my bike back here? Not likely.

On 08/28/2011 I went to Z’s Bike Shop to get a new chain and a chain tool for my Canondale Terra and after getting a quote on the chain and chain tool I found that they could change the chain for $ 22.25 or Five Dollars more than the parts would cost me. So I went home and got the bike and left it with them after they assured me that a new chain would fix the chain skip problem the bike was experiencing. So I picked the bike up on 8÷31÷2011 and took it home only to find that with a new chain it was still experiencing the same chain skip problem. So I took it back to them at which time they determined that chain skip problem was caused by the rear dérailleur hanger and they could fix it for $ 58.30. On 9÷8÷2011 I picked the bike up and took it home only to find that the chain skip problem was not corrected. So I take the bike back to them and they determine that I need a new front chain ring and they would have to order it. After waiting 10 days(09/20/2011) they call me and said I should be able to pick the bike up after 2:00 pm. When I get down there, they tell me that the chain is still skipping and I need a new rear cassette. So they put a new cassette on and I pay them $ 136.19. When I get the bike home and try it I find that the real tire is rubbing up against the bike frame and the front chain ring will not shift into low gear. After spending a total of $ 216.74 this is not the kind of service that I would expect to get from a Authorized Canondale Service Center. This same bike has been brought in many times for similar service at Authorized Canondale Service Centers in Virginia where they were able to tell me immediately what the bike needed and fixed it right the 1st time for the exact price that was quoted. I for one, will never do any type of business with this bike shop again.
