This is not your Mega-​Nursery (yes, there’s one down the road). In addition to zone specific plant material, Brian specializes in native plant propagation and usually has both common natives and hard to find specimens… all sizes, all prices. Yes, sometimes the material looks a bit rough, but if you know native material, you usually can’t (and don’t) expect the over-​fertilized, artificially greened stock you find elsewhere. The inventory changes continuously and rapidly as the nursery is used by many municipalities for their planting needs. Check with many west Broward city landscape or horticulture offices, they will tell you about the quality and dependability of the stock at Alexander’s.
If you want to use a coupon, go to Lowe’s or HD, where you will find plants not suited for growing in South Florida.

This is a rundown landscaping business that I visit a few times a year to look for oddball plants. They list themselves as a native plant nursery but they really have no specialization in this regard. A lot of the material has had too much sun exposure and is not up to the quality of what you can readily but for a lower price up and down the street, which has a lot of good nurseries. On a visit a few years ago, I bought some seedling cypress trees for $ 5. I went back for more the next day and was charged $ 15, this time by the owner. Didn’t say anything, as they were unmarked. Today I found a plant that I liked for $ 35 and had it written up at the register. When we presented a Groupon, the owner showed up and refused to sell us the plant because he couldn’t replace it for $ 35 and prices were subject to change at any time. If you shop here, watch out, and keep your purchase small.
