Whit’s Frozen Custard

Okay, for starters, I’m leaving out ambiance on this one. It’s not a fancy place, but it’s EXTREMELY clean, and it works for what it is. Please, please, please try a sample of whatever special flavor they’ve concocted for the week. Every time we’ve tried a new flavor, it was magic. My favorite so far has been the almond joy. Beyond that, I love their sundaes, particularly the one with hot caramel and toasted pecans *drool*. They have to-​go prepacked pints, sandwich cookies, and custard cakes too. It’s a great mom-​and-​pop business, especially if you’re looking to try something made locally and not 8 states away. If anything could be improved, I’d say visibility. It can be tricky to find if you’re not familiar with Davidson, and the parking lot lacks adequate lighting to find the signage after dark.

I’ll admit that I’m a BIG fan of Whit’s custard. I like softer ice cream, and theirs suits my taste perfectly.
I’ve been half a dozen times already, and get either the Luscious Lake Norman (with pecans) or Oh Henry (with peanuts). Both have hot caramel and hot fudge. Yum! Their sundaes are my favorite – since I really like to separate my bits of the caramel and fudge – but the Whitser is good if you like everything mixed together.
There are several size options, and I’ve found the mini to be just the perfect size for me. And it’s less than $ 4, so what a deal for a sundae!

Delicious! If you have never tried frozen custard, I’m sorry ;) I can devour just a plain vanilla, because it’s so tasty. But, whit’s does a great job with other amazing flavors as well. Place is clean, and staff is friendly. Check it out!

Getting in 15 minutes before they closed they greeted us with a smile and asked if we have ever been here before. We have not, so they instantly offered us samples to try!
I went with 3 other people and we all got the «whitzer». This is where they mix the flavored custard you want with any toppings.
The custard is very creamy but lighter than regular ice cream, we loved it!
It ended up being the owner that was helping us, she was very down to earth and welcoming! She even offered me a topping that was not on the menu because her husband was trying it out she mentioned, I thought that was GREAT customer service! I ended up doing with the topping on the menu though, but looking forward to see if they add that other topping to the menu– real marshmallows !!
We will be back to supper this business and get our custard fixings!

This is so amazing. Chill staff and endless flavors! The buckeye madness is so good. Reese’s cup chocolate syrup and peanut butter!!! Can’t wait to try more.
One of the owners quickly stepped up and asked if it was our first time there. (It was) so she gave us a great run down of the menu, her business, and the background of the franchise too. Could totally tell she was passionate about Whit’s! I enjoyed that some of the staff was wearing Ohio State Buckeye jerseys. I even asked if they were big Buckeye fans, and the owner said the business is out of Ohio, but it helps that they are buckeye fans too. Pretty fitting. I kinda of figured since the shop colors, the jerseys, and even the buckeye madness all had to do with Ohio State. Now I wonder what jerseys they wear on Sunday’s? Hopefully not the Browns.
Kind of wish this place was in a more of a «prime» location, it’s sort of tucked away off the road. That’s good news for my wife and I because that means we might not have to wait as long to get our custard!
Overall, we LOVED our experience. We showed up 10 minutes before closing on a Saturday night, and were warmly greeted by smiles from all the employees, and even engaged in conversation. I HIGHLY recommend going here if you just visiting the area, or if you are a resident. You won’t be disappointed.
Just a side not to the owner… GO FSU NOLES! :)

They deserve the FIVE stars, very smoothly and delicious ice cream. I will come back again and again !

Tried Whits last week and the whole family loved it! It’s owned by a local Davidson family. It’s the only custard I know of in the area. Plenty of mix-​in and flavor options. We’ll definitely be back! It’s set back from the road out of sight so turn in at Davidson Beverage Co.

This place is great. If you have never tried frozen custard, you have to go. It’s much softer than typical soft serve, but much more creamy. The custard here is either vanilla or chocolate, or the «flavor of the week». Lots of items to either mix into the custard (whit) or place on top (sundae).
The vanilla was very good. I’ll need to try the chocolate next time.

I visited for the first time and I have to say I was very impressed! I had the chocolate custard and I actually prefer it to regular soft serve ice cream. It was refreshing and delicious. The place was clean and the staff was friendly. I will definitely be back!

Finally a frozen custard place in Lake Norman!!! Frozen custard is like ice cream, but better. Whit’s is hard to see from the main road in Davidson, but it is worth finding. It is located right across the street from Carrburritos and in the same parking lot as The Davidson Beverage company. The custard was great. Prices are about what you would expect, but better than other ice cream stores in our area. I had the strawberry whitser. Think of custard with strawberries blended in. Kids loved dirty worm and fish bait treats. Great place for a frozen treat!

The best Custard for miles around. Fresh by the hour and better for you than ice cream. Who could ask for more? So many options to choose from and a weekly special. Stop in and get a free sample. I love the Lake Norman Whitzer
