Traveling through states, I like to pick up local newspapers. There is something appealing about their very localness and broad ranging familiarity with readers and residents. The Banner Press has a long history. Like similar newspapers, you can find details on past and upcoming meetings, on which residents had who for visitors, and what the city council members said about the weeds on your neighbor’s property and the car on your front lawn. Big city newspapers could take a hint. Add a couple of pages in each edition, oriented towards particular neighborhoods in your district. I’m sure you could find volunteers to do some of the writing for you.
