Superstars & Superheroes

Superstars & Superheroes is exactly the kind of card shop I remember frequenting as a kid (now I’m a big kid with more disposable income). Stacks of comics and boxes of mass produced 90s baseball cards surround the customer on top of glass card cases. I stopped in on my way back to Milwaukee to purchase some Topps Gypsy Queen cards to complete my set, an expensive fool’s errand.
The owner, who was sorting cards, was a really nice gent. He’s been in business for over 20 years he told me. This is something to survive the baseball card hobby crash of the mid 90s (players’ strike, gross over production of cards — the bubble burst and everyone was left with bubble gum stuck to their faces). There was a nice selection of 50s Topps & Bowman, which in my opinion are the nicest designed sets of all time (Google Woody Gelman).
