The new décor was heavy and dark like an old fashioned men’s only club. The food was pricey and mediocre. The service was good. Will most probably not going back.

Made a reservation for 8:15 on 3/12/16.When we arrived we gave our name and said we made a reservation. The maitre d told us they were very busy in a rude tone and said he would get us in the louge in 10 or 15 minutes. I asked why we had to wait 15 min and then he got in my face and told us to wait. I would never go back no mater if the food was fantastic

We are the BIGGEST FANS! Not only did my husband and I come here for my prom (some 20 something years ago), we had our wedding here and our family has come back multiple times for dinner a year.
The food is amazing whether it be a wedding or just a dinner! Our favorites are basically the entire menu! Here is what we can name right now:
Appetizers: Crab Cakes, Mozzarella Fritta, Eggplant Rollatini, Mussels, Fried Zucchini
Salad: Swan Salad is amazing!
Entrees: Any Steak options, Lobster too!
Desserts: If you have the room for dessert… anything!
The pricing is reasonable. You can pick from a menu that offers an entire meal from appetizers thru desserts. Also, you can go online to do gift cards (my parents LOVED their anniversary gift card).
Giovanni is frequently visiting tables which is an amazing thing as an owner. The entire staff at this restaurant is amazing and take such good care of their clients. For our wedding we worked with Bonnie who was a God sent to me for talking me through some of the wedding reception plans and every guest at our wedding was talking about the food!!!
Forget 5 star restaurant rating… its like 10 stars and two thumbs up!

Just finished our Thanksgiving meal that we picked up yesterday from The Waters Edge. It was packaged so well with perfect instructions on how to heat up the sides and cook the turkey. Thanksgiving for me has never been easier !!! Everything was superb and we even had leftovers — we bought the meal for 6 and it could have fed 8. Even the apple pie for dessert was excellent. Thank you for a stress free holiday — wish you did this for Christmas!!!

We celebrated our wedding anniversary last night. Had s wonderful meal and friendly, attentive service. Giovanni made sure we were happy every step of the way.

The service and food are excellent. It’s high end dining, but less certainly less expensive than The Capital Grill. My wife and I will come here, sometimes with family to celebrate those special occasions and holidays. Two thumbs up

I have eaten at The Waters Edge At Giovanni’s for years. The food is always perfect. I have many memories there. From client meetings to special dinners with our family. Giovanni’s has made us feel welcome and wonderful. The service is always friendly and the Steaks are incredible. I love the fried zucchini and don’t leave without trying desert… I love how when you are eating, the staff understands the perfect way to make you feel like you are at home only way better… If you haven’t eaten at The Waters Edge at Giovanni’s you are missing one of the best restaurants in Fairfield County.

My wife and I always go to Giovanni’s for special occasions. The restaurant is very well staffed. The food is delicious and excellent quality. The food portions are generous so we have yummy left overs the next day. The prices are very reasonable. We highly Giovanni’s you will not be disappointed. On Valentine’s Day at Giovanni’s we had an amazing time while we renewed our vows, danced and had a complimentary dessert and coffee.

My family in Stamford had not «heard of» the restaurant when I found it on Unilocal.It was the ONLY restaurant that had both grilled meat choices AND italian dishes. So we went. The service was nice, the food and the wine were good and the prices on the specials were GREAT. I had the 1.25# lobster and small filet (surf and turf) for something like $ 35 which also includes a starter (I chosed fried mozzarella) and a dessert. I will definitely go back the next time I’m in the vicinity.

I frequent this restaurant several times a year. However I don;t think i will be coming back. My husband and i were there this past Thursday evening. Our waiter was nice and seemed to be very efficient. We both ordered steaks to be done medium. When we were served our entrée the steaks appeared to be rare. We asked that they cook thim a bit longer. When we rec’d our steaks back there was absolutely no taste at all to either of them. We both left about ½ of our steaks on our plates. No questions were asked and we left.

The single reason for the first 1-​star rating I have ever given on Unilocal: $ 8 for a Coke! When the bill came, I was shocked! The food was decent, nothing special. But, there is NO restaurant good enough to charge $ 8 for a glass of Coca-​Cola. The old man is crazy. He doesn’t deserve to stay in business. I will NEVER go back!

I didn’t know that Christmas eve is a HUGE restaurant night. Arrived on time for my reservation, had to wait 15 minutes to speak to the maitre’d, who told me it would be at least 20 minutes, maybe more, before I could get a table. I ate at the bar instead. The food was good, seasonal decorations very pretty, the bar staff was very pleasant but crazy busy.

We dined at Giovanni’s on Christmas Eve between church services in Darien. (I’m the organist at a local church.) Frankly, I can’t believe I’ve never eaten here before! It was absolutely terrific. From the hosts to the waiter to the other staff, everyone was attentive and friendly. We had reservations and were actually seated earlier than that time when they found out we had to get back to church for the later service. The food was some of the best I’ve had in any restaurant –anywhere! I highly recommend the filet Mignon and my friend loved his vegetarian entrée. The price was very reasonable, considering that it was a major holiday. Our bill for two 3-​course dinners and sparkling water was just over $ 100. I’d highly recommend Giovanni’s and will definitely be going back!

I had high hopes for a work luncheon here on a Friday.
The décor and interior are very nice and well put together. Even though it was winter you could tell the outside waterviews are nice as well. They had nice holiday decorations and lights around that gave each space a welcoming charm.
The service was fast and readily available to meet our parties needs however the kitchen never figured this out (see later).
With all that said I cannot bump this up to a 3 star review given the food that was served.
The salad was given out preplated which is normal but the portions of each were extremely uneven some were just a few leaves of spring mix whereas some were actually plates of salad you’d be OK receiving. To go along with this was a plate of fried squash to pass around which was rather spongey.
The main course was a choice of steak tips, chicken or pasta. I went with steak and asked for medium.
What i got was 3 very done balls of steak, not very close to what steak tips resemble or cooked to any desire of care. Other party members complained of it not being cooked enough and it would be rushed back to the kitchen… The remedy to this was put the entire plate with the potatoes and veggies in the oven and burn everything!
I saw some nice size pieces of chicken that came out but no one really expressed any savory moments while eating it or finished it.
The cake was last and wasn’t too bad, very light with a small layer of frosting.
I really expected something better or atleast some quality product to get individuals to come back on their own but the effort just wasn’t there.

This food is mediocre. The Prime Rib was bland. Giovanni is very nice and welcoming. We came here two nights in a row for working dinners with groups of 8 – 9 people. None of us loved what we got.

Awful! Went for Mothers Day with 6 adults and 3 kids, 9, 4, and 3. The service was very slow even with the dining room at about 50 percent capacity. The salad didn’t fill the plate which really didnt matter because there was no dressing on it and the waiter disappeared for 20 minutes and returned with my steak. I ordered medium and it came well done and dry. The potato which I’m guessing was baked, sliced and then left in a warming drawer for hours was gross. I had tiramisu for dessert which wasn’t bad.
What was bad was the check. The kids all had chicken tenders which appeared to be home made and fries. I might be crazy but $ 69.00 for three kids meals is beyond ridiculous! Also, 9 sodas was another $ 29.00! I was pleasantly surprised however when I saw that the tap water was free.
All in all I gave it one star because I’m not sure that you can give zero stars!!!

The food was great. The service was less than great. We waited for quite a while between courses and had to ask for drink refills and the check.

This place is great, an old school family steakhouse. Giovanni came by our table to say hello, he has been running the place for 20 years.
The food was really good, and there is an $ 35 all-​inclusive dinner that includes salad, appetizer, entre (steak, lobster, etc) and desert that is a really good deal.
Highly recommended if you are looking for a nice dinner out with friends.

The food was amazing! I had the Rib Eye well done with baked potato. My girlfriend had the Strip Steak– she loved it. The service was outstanding; well worth the trip.
