Planet Pizza

As taste is always subjective, it stands to note that I’m a bit of a pizza snob. So, my sense of taste, despite being a bit biased, is also refined to a degree based on my pizza eating experience.
Having said that, with the choice of so many other quality pizza restaurants in and near town, I’m not sure what Planet brings to the table. Is it price? No. Quality? Way no. Selection? Greek diner much? Timely delivery? Nah. So, what is it they bring to an already saturated table?
Ok, most Darienites travel to and work in NYC. So, the ambiance will be recognize able. Maybe even, dare I say, comforting? Wow. So people are willing to support a place that offers so little in terms of what a pizza place should offer, while the many other pizza places are eons beyond.
So, im a bit puzzled. The pizza is a joke. Greasy, bland, uninspired.
The garlic knots are ok. Sandwiches– pedestrian. So, a New Yorker would feel at home here? That’s pretty sad.
In short, with quality only a speed dial away, why on Earth pick /​support garbage such as this? Nostalgia? Maybe. Subjective taste? I sadly believe so.
Maybe my food snobbery got the best of me here, or maybe the food is just plain bad.
I think the latter.

This is our go-​to pizza place! Paulo is the nicest guy and the pizza is always delicious. The white pizza with broccoli is amazing.

Huge menu and the pizza is bomb! The guys that work here are super friendly and really create a great atmosphere. Paul is one of the nicest guys you can meet and always has a great attitude. Favorite place to eat or call for delivery in Darien

We really love planet pizza we order from here regularly. We had a couple times where order was messed up or they brought the wrong thing but they were quick to remedy the problem either giving us a credit or free dessert. It is this attention to detail and what the customer thinks that keeps us a loyal customer. We usually go for the pizza though they have excellent grinders as well. I highly recommend the Italian combo as it is one of my favorites and of course the garlic knots which are always hot and fresh. On a sidenote they also have the best brownies you wouldn’t think but they have this brownie called the ultimate brownie and it is literally the ultimate brownie.

Food arrived after 80 min wait. Driver for some reason incapable of finding our house with clear markings on the street and the house.
Food arrived cold.
Asked for change of $ 10, the driver have me $ 9 by doing a trick where he counted one bill twice. I asked him to count it again and he did the same. I have a wife and kid watching behind me, so I walked away and let him have the extra money (BTW, I tipped $ 6 on $ 24 delivery, so I wasn’t being cheap).
The pizza was like a 3/​10, service obviously a little lower.

Pizza is OK. The problem is two slices and a bottle of water cost $ 10! It’s ridiculous.

Mediocre pizza. A bunch of young kids running the shop — kind of a frat-​house type of atmosphere in the front of the shop. Pizza was passable — but not good. NOTHING looked fresh behind the counter — like it had all been sitting there for hours. I am pretty sure the counter guy overcharged me, but I didnt have any energy to get into a debate. I just wanted to eat and get back on 95.

Great food. Great online ordering. On time deliver.

Can’t believe no body has written a review for this place yet…
Anyway, if you’re looking for good pizza in Darien I highly recommend this place. Their food tastes good, lots of variety on the menu, friendly staff, easy parking, and a lunch special selection that won’t break your wallet.
