Holiday Inn Express & Suites Daphne-Spanish Fort Area

Very impressed with this hotel, the amenities, and the cleanliness. The only trouble is locating the facility at night, but GPS is spot on.

I received an auto-​mail from Holiday Inn asking to «Thank You for Your Stay at Holiday Inn Express DAPHNE-​SPANISH FORT AREA.». I had done that about a month ago but the review is not there so I tried again. Not really a surprise but it makes me glad there are independent sites like Unilocal.But you really have to wonder — is no one really watching the interaction the business is having with consumers?

To be fair, I have no view of the quality nor the facilities since we did not stay there. The service was poor in that we tried to cancel booking with plenty of notice (soccer tournament cancellation meant we didn’t need to be there) and have been charged for the room anyway.
In terms of value for money, I would not recommend the Holiday In Express. Further, if you are booking on the
web site I’d recommend extreme caution. One part of the Web site clearly says «It’s easy to change or cancel your reservation for any InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) hotel. You can visit our Manage Your Reservations page or call us at your nearest worldwide reservations office» but when we tried we were not allowed to cancel.
The management said the reason we were unable to cancel was because we had a discounted rate. The site offers a «Best Price Guarantee» so I would have thought that would be a best rate was the norm. This was also not true. We are aware of another booking that had an additional $ 10 off the price we paid. They were able to cancel. We were not. I suppose we missed these conditions somewhere. They were not laid out on the receipt for example.
We’ve contacted both the local management and the head office but there was no change.
In summary, be very wary the hotel, the chain and the corporate web site when making a booking. You may need to do additional research to really get the best price, and watch the fine print on the offer. If you have a problem, this is an organization that will stick with the rules — do not expect anything more than that.

The staff was friendly, the room was clean. The workout room had an elliptical. The bed was sleepable. And the room was nicely decorated. Also, there was like most HIE’s, coffee in the dining room all day and night.
Unfortunately, wifi was only in the dining room, I could never get on-​line in the room. The temp control for the AC did not work well. This too me is really what lowers the rating for the room.
Also the breakfast here was not as good as the morning before in LA. Here there was no bacon or fruit and OJ was watery.
Honestly, there are probably worse places to stay and Alabama is a lovely place with lovely people. So even though I am only giving it a 3 star, I would stay there again. There was a TV in the room and if you are not having to work, one night without wifi did not kill me.

Jessica and Gerald BOTH are great ! We enjoy our stay here every time we come fishing. The pool is nice. The people are really friendly and extremely helpful. The rooms are clean. The also have a great breakfast, although we don’t care for the buffet one. The staff is very accommodating. They have a great ballroom facility also. Pets are welcome, which we love. We wouldn’t stay anywhere else. :)

Love this hotel. This is the second time we stayed here and will continue to do so. The staff are very professional and helpful. The rooms are very clean and the breakfast is good. I am a clean freak and this is very clean. Great housekeeping staff.

it is always a good sign when the desk clerk greets you with a smile and a bright welcome/​hello. Jessica is a definite aset to this hotel and was very accomodating for the 2 days i was there with directions/​suggestions, etc.
far enough off highway to be quiet, but easy to find.
the room was spacious, very clean and the breakfast was plentiful and satisfying.
if you have an older idea of holiday inn check out this HI X and i’m sure you’ll love it.
very affordable… definitely would stay here again, (and i’m finding other HI X’s to be very good also).
