According to my lovely mother(who would dine at the Outback Steakhouse over any other restaurant in the world ever) this place is five stars. She was in love with their stromboli calzone! According to me this place is 3 stars. We stopped in on a sleepy Saturday after checking out the farmer’s market on the square. We needed somewhere cool and quiet because we had a 3 month old as a dining companion. I have noticed very quickly that some hostesses will give you the«Oh shit where do we stick a baby?» look when you walk in, but the hostess was super pleasant and showed us to private corner. We were one of maybe three tables filled(granted it was 11:45ish, so a bit early for normal lunch). Our server was friendly and recommended the calzones. I had ham with spinach, and my mom enjoyed the stromboli. The calzones, in my opinion, were A-OK. I must admit that all we had were the calzones and our drinks, so I cannot speak to the pasta, pizza or salads.

My husband and I wanted pizza so we thought we would get a pizza from Franks, but when my husband checked our pizza it was all wrong. Then I guess the hostess was literally mad and refused to make another one. We love to support local business but we will NEVER go there again.

What a let down. After reading the reviews — most of them positive — we decided to give this place a try. The atmosphere is nice, casual and charming. Our server was pleasant but not very attentive. The warm bread — tasted like it was from a can and you were served margarine with it — not real bitter or better yet olive oil for dipping. The salad was good though generic — iceberg lettuce with a couple of olives, one tomato slice and some cheese. Our main dishes were lasagna and chicken Michelangelo(chicken is a red pepper cream sauce). First the lasagna — tasted like they heated up a TV dinner. It wasn’t fresh at all, barely any cheese, and the noodles were rubber. The chicken was ok — nothing I would go out of my way to eat again. There was very little sauce and a bunch of dices peppers covering a barely sautéed thin chicken breast. It came with a side of pasta and I have to say the marinara sauce on that was the best part of the meal. We had a view of the kitchen and saw their desserts were not freshly made either so we passed. I love a good local restaurant and hate to give bad reviews to the independent guys but this place was awful.

My husband and I have been to Frank’s three times, and every time has been terrible. Tonight was extra terrible. We received Linguini with clam sauce, that had no sauce, rubber chicken, awful service and ALL of this for an hour and a half of us sitting there. Needless to say we will not be back unless they learn how to cook and manage a restaurant.

Frank’s Place is excellent. To think that it exists despite the Hoosier preference for mass produced chain food is a wonder, since virtually the entire menu is legit mainline Italian– the manicotti is best in the state. Hands down. And ask for the clams; try the red sauce with it. It’s like you’re eating in Naples. Seriously. No complaints, It’s like an oasis in the food desert of central Indiana. Pay no attention to the other reviews, authored as they are by people who prize saving a buck-twenty by eating at Fazoli’s. Franks is a quality traditional Italian restaurant. The best around, under appreciated by the Hilljacks of Danville.

Ok food we had a hair in our pizza and the owners wife didn’t even care Wth we won’t be back I’d rather go to pizza paradise next door. But frank the owner is a really nice guy and they do have great spinach rolls

This is a great locally-owned restaurant to try in the Danville/Avon area. The interior is spacious and has a unique but welcoming ambiance. At first I was worried because the person who greeted us when we first came in didn’t even look at us, she grabbed menus and walked away, she didn’t say hi or ask us to follow her. But everyone else at the restaurant was friendly. Pros: — Wait time for food was great, we did not have to wait very long for the food to come out — Olive oil dip for the bread was really good — Chicken fettucine alfredo was DELICIOUS, the sauce is made fresh when ordered — I was tempted to ask for more — Service was great, our waitress was attentive and efficient Cons: — Spaghetti and meatballs dish was average, the sauce tasted kind of watered down — One staff member who seated us who appeared she hated her job(I guess all businesses have at least one of these types of people) — One of the few Italian establishments we’ve dined at that doesn’t grate fresh parmesan over the dishes

You know, the ambiance bumps this place up a notch, but the food is just so-so. I would imagine if I went into business as a italian chef, my sauce would taste quite like the sauce at Franks. It’s almost like a watered down prego. I can’t stomach paying 50 – 60 per meal for something like that.

Franks is easily the best restaurant in Danville. The Interior is really pretty nice, and the food, while fairly pricey is pretty good. I really like the Chicken Michaelangelo(Chicken breast with a red pepper cream sauce with pasta and marinara sauce). My wife swears by the spinach lasagna

Franks is a great local business. Several menu selections, many I wished I would have had time for tonight! Instead we went for a quick dinner and ordered the panzerotti. This came with a side if pasta. My quick dinner was amazing with great favors and the marinara sauce used was delicious. Definitely worth a meal stop if you are in the area!

Franks offers very good fresh Italian food. Their marinara sauce is my favorite and everything always tastes very fresh. Franks is close to our home and we go there frequently. The food is always great, though we have occasionally had slow service. Overall this is a great place to get a good Italian meal.

Yuck. Stopped in for lunch and was not impressed. To quote my father-in-law, «this is our first and last trip to Frank’s.» Most of the table ordered calzones with one person ordering the baked lasagna. Normally a huge fan of lasagna, this was the worst. The lasagna was drowning in a pool, no, lake of greasy tomato sauce. You couldn’t taste anything but sauce. The calzone’s were ok until you hit the rock hard piece of pizza dough. After eating mine my stomach didn’t feel so great. I will say the space is very nice and if the food would have been good this would have been a very nice experience. Not to mention the prices are so reasonable. Too bad.

Mediocre Italian food at best! The ambiance is quite romantic, but it was over shadow by tasteless soup and watery pasta sauce.

Unusual to see such a refined looking restaurant in Danville, IN. The atmosphere was very upscale, however, we were thrown off by the Styrofoam ramekins and plastic glasses. There was also a lack of music, which we find nice for ambiance in restaurants. We ordered the bread sticks, a cheese pizza, and the spinach roll. The food was spectacular. We’re bringing the family back!

There really aren’t many fancy places in eat in little Danville, but Franks is nice if you’re wanting something a little classier. The atmosphere is nice, and the food is pretty tasty, though somewhat hit or miss. My biggest complaint are the prices, as they are a bit high in my opinion. The last dish I had there was something along the lines of angel hair in a red sauce with some basil. When I had come in, I smelled fresh basil, which I love. I should have asked what someone else was eating, because what I ordered was not heavenly perfumed with basil, but it was still alright.

Frank’s is a pretty decent place. For Danville, it’s downright lovely. The décor is simple but classy, the prices are reasonable, and the food is above-par, if lacking a certain sizzle. It’s good, it’s not bland, but it doesn’t quite hit the spot. In a range of limited options though, it’s a good choice. I ordered a Stromboli and two Garlic Rolls, and a water, and spent about $ 10, with some Stromboli left over. So if Italian’s your thing, and you’re in Danville, it’s a nice place to hit up.

Frank’s Place is a great choice if you are in the mood for non-chain Italian food. They have some great pasta entrees, I especially enjoy the tortellini with prosciutto and the spumoni is amazing! The chicken Marsala is also tasty. I have heard great things about the stuffed pizza and we love the anti pasta salad(what a great lunch). We have been to Frank’s many many times. Unfortunately, their biggest issue is inconsistency. At times the cook is phenomenal as is the service, other times both are only so-so. It is a little pricier than a chain, but typically we are willing to pay for a unique experience.

My family, friends and I all went to have some dinner here and we were all pleased with our meals! The atmosphere was very clean and nice looking, our waitress wasn’t bad, just a little too touchy on my 1 ½ yr old son at that time, he was getting annoyed by her as was my wife and I. Other than that, we all enjoyed ourselves. I had the lasagna, which was very tasty. I enjoyed the salad and bread as well! Not too bad of an Italian restaurant!
