We had a blast here conversing with Kathy and tasting chardonnay before dinner. She served us 4 different vintages 2009(my favorite), 2010, 2011 and 2013. All we very good with unique characteristics influenced by the terroir, the oak and winemaking techniques. We did not try any reds but I’m sure they are equally interesting. They have music Friday and Saturday evenings and Sunday afternoons. They also serve a variety of small plates so you can make an evening of it. The tasting room is spacious and filled with interesting art. All in all, a very nice experience in downtown Danville.

Wines were lovely and the staff were great. Informative and friendly. There was also some live music, so was a perfect lazy Sunday afternoon

I have to say I was a bit surprised by the subpar reviews written for this tasting room. Last night during the wine walk was our second time here. The prior visit we sampled a wine flight and really enjoyed the 2010 Meritage. Tonight they were pouring a white and a cab. The cab was great, perfect balance not too dry with just the right amount of fruit. Customer service is great and they have live music quite a few nights throughout the week. I highly recommend checking this place out and trying some delicious wine!

Nice building and great location. I was there when they first opened and yesterday, nothing has changed. Unfriendly staff and over priced mediocre wine.

Just O.k.. If you prefer whites go down the street to The Vine. Way better selection.

Nutshell review: Great location, mediocre wines at best, but good service and food. Oh and you can’t drink outside till they get set up properly in summer 2015.

Nice place right in the heart of Danville. Surprisingly tasty eats for a wine bar; the sliders are terrific. Good ambiance. Quiet. Wine selection could be larger but otherwise very nice place for happy hour.

My wife and I went there for the first time tonight, the Christmas atmosphere was fabulous. Our host Rikki was both knowledgeable and friendly, I would recommend going on an evening when she is working… made for a great cocktail hour.

Love this place, the vibe and location in the heart of downtown Danville are perfect! You can always count on an awesome glass of wine, great food and enjoy the live music. I had my fiancé 50th surprise party here, wonderful party! Try the burgers… Amazing!

This is one of the East Bay’s best places to taste wine. Auburn James has achieved the perfect balance for your tasting experience: outstanding wines with a perfect venue in perhaps the most desirable locations in Danville. My wife and I come here often. The staff are incredibly knowledgeable and friendly, the food is exceptional, and they have live music that creates a terrific ambience for tasting. I can’t give enough kudos to Matt Ospeck and his team for delivering this quite outstanding experience. All the wines are world class, but for us the Chardonnay and the Cabernet Franc are stand out exceptional. You will love this tasting room.

My husband and I have gone here twice hoping it would be good… but it’s not. Both times we had a really cold server who acted like she wanted to throw the wine at us and run! She made sure to tell us to hurry up and order because they close at 9, what? The appetizers and wine were expensive and aweful. We tried to get the server to make some suggestions off the menu and she froze up and a few times she just turned and walked away awkwardly like we had made some really wierd request. Try the Vine instead, good wine, friendly servers!

The Syrah tastes like port and the Cabernet is lack-luster. I suggest that you visit«The Vine» just down the street for a wider selection of good wines at moderate price levels. Just not a fan of this wine, however, others my find it fanciful.

Stopped by on Hot Summer Nights. They felt it was really busy. It just seems under staffed with people that couldn’t handle it. Been to much busier wineries with good service. They don’t do tasting. You buy a flight. It took so long to pay. Ending up leaving $ 8 extra because they could not work the cash register. Really disappointing service.

Skip it. Wine is not good and our server was quite forgetful.

I got a chance to try the Auburn James Tasting room today. The Chardonnay was my favorite. I got to chat with the sommelier, and learn about the history of how Auburn James came to be, and hear all about their recent blind tasting WIN taking home 1st place. Great wine, and great service! 5-stars!

It’s a wine bar what’s not to like! I think I found my new favorite combo of goat cheese and pears from their app menu. All of the cheeses I have tried here have been outstanding too. Come for the wine, stay for the food and relax with the super friendly staff.

Wow, Well I have only been here a couple times but the wines were good enough for me to sign up on their membership! I mean really really great stuff, especially the Cab Franc. The food that I have had is also pretty good, though I haven’t a ton of it. Def. going back and like I said, I signed up.

We had a deal to have a wine tasting and a cheese plate. The wines were delicious(we even bought a dessert wine there) and the cheeses were great. My favorite was the truffle scented honey with blue cheese! But the other cheeses were excellent too. I think my husband liked the triple cream best. The service was great, and the ambiance is very pleasant. They have lots of cool gourmet salts and spices and other foodie treats for sale.

It’s a great place to start a date. It’s expensive but the wines are pretty good, and the pear and goat cheese appetizer is worth the price of admission. The Cab was good, but as I said, the wine is very expensive. I would love to be able to afford to make this place a regular stop, but with an infamous wine bar across the street it’ll be tough to justify.
