I’ve been bringing my fine oriental rugs here to be cleaned and repaired for years now. I’m always impressed at the fine work he does with both repairs and with cleaning. He even weaves his own rugs! He is very knowledgeable about the different types of rugs, where they come from, and how old they are. He is a professional and an expert.

I have driven by this place many times, and yesterday my girlfriend and I decided we would stop in to look through the beautiful rugs and add this to our list of things to make for a pleasant afternoon. The sign said «open,» so we park and go up to the door and the door was padlocked. The owner was shoveling snow in front of the store and I apologized and said I thought he was open. He then asked me very abruptly what size I needed, and I said I just wanted to browse. I knew nothing of what he had nor any prices, and my girlfriend and I love interior decorating, etc, and just wanted to look around because we enjoy it. He then asked if we were going to buy and we said no, well maybe, a little confused, and he refused to let us in because he said he «had a lot of work to do.» It was a very awkward and strange interaction and we will never be returning to this place we once thought would be so charming and beautiful. A rude and strange interaction that left us feeling quite sad for the rest of the afternoon.

We have bought quality rugs from Danvers Rug for the past 10 years. There is a great variety; something for everyone. The owner knows rugs and is good at guiding you. He also repairs and cleans rugs. He just repaired and cleaned a rug that we bought from him 10 years ago, and even with a dog and cat, it looks and smells like new! If you are looking for a decent rug and a good price, this is the place to go.
