Captain Bob’s was delicious! The Buffalo Popcorn Shrimp and French Onion Soup are amazing! Our waitress Linda was incredibly nice and helpful and the owner of the restaurant checked us out at the register and told us a little bit about the restaurant’s history. The waiting room is huge and I can imagine they fill it up on weekends with people waiting to eat their delicious home cooking! :)

The reason this is 4 stars, and not 3 is the bread pudding. It is delicious. I would really rate the restaurant a 3.5 star for the rest of the food. We tried the white fish(blackened), shrimp scampi, fried catfish, and fried clam strips. The best of those were the catfish(very crispy with a cornmeal crust), and the scampi(medium sized shrimp, swimming in garlic butter). The hush puppies were crispy and slightly sweet, albeit a tad greasy. The rest of the food(slaw, whitefish, clam strips) was average. Don’t miss the homemade desserts. The warm bread pudding had the best caramel, butter sauce ever!

Captain Bob is back! Dandridge residents remember Captain Bob as the owner of Dandridge Seafood during its heyday, when people would drive from surrounding counties and some of Knoxville’s biggest names could be seen having dinner at one of his tables. While his new restaurant is much smaller than before, the food is just as good. Although Captain Bob cooks up a good variety of broiled, grilled, and fried seafood, the hidden gem of the restaurant is the steak selection. The steaks are thick, high-quality cuts of meat that come off the grill expertly cooked with a beautiful black char surrounding the exact temperature meat you ordered. Using any type of steak sauce on these steaks would be an insult. The seafood is well-priced and large portioned. The salads are pedestrian but made with fresh ingredients. The deserts are excellent, and the bread pudding is highly recommended. Seating peaks around 5:30 to 6 pm, and the dining room has around fifty seats max. Expect a down-home atmosphere, friendly service, and lots of laughter around the tables.
