We had dinner at Edo II while we were up from NYC visiting family in Danbury. My Danbury family highly recommended we try this restaurant. I’m so glad they did! It didn’t look like much from the outside, but once we went in we had a wonderful experience at Edo II! The inside is quaint and I just love the small sushi bar at the front of the restaurant! The food was delicious, authentic and presented beautifully! We had some sushi which was terrific, the harumaki was nice and crunchy, and I had the bibimbap gobdol which was fantastic! I’ve been to both Japan and Korea and have to say the food at Edo II is spot on! I also love that it’s a local mom and pop place! The restaurant is small, so if you want to go during peak hours I would definitely suggest a reservation. If you are looking for some authentic Korean cuisine and are in the Danbury area, check out Edo II!

Simple atmosphere. Owner chef happy and friendly. The Korean BBQ and udon noodles were delicious! Packed with flavor. Quaint. Veggie udon had a deeper and eclectic veggie re i.e. Than most suburbs Japanese houses

I am not an expert in Korean food, since all I’ve had that’s Korean came from Orlando’s Izziban Sushi, which has very tasty bibimpop and bulgagi dishes. Based on this, I was very eager to replicate those culinary experiences with this little Korean restaurant in Danbury. Unfortunately, it was a bust. The place is very cute and very, very small, undoubtedly being a mom-and-pop type of restaurant, which are excellent finds sometimes. The young girls working as waitresses looked like they were relatives helping out the family. They were graceful and helpful enough. However, the gorgeous décor and the friendly staff were pluses that could not save the disappointment of the dishes. First thing we noticed is that the prices were higher than expected. The cheapest entrees were around $ 15 bucks with the majority being higher than that. That wasn’t necessarily what we could afford at the moment, but we were already there and hungry. There were cheaper bento-boxes-style lunch specials; unluckily, their lunch specials only worked on weekdays, and it was a Saturday. I ordered a hot chicken bibimpop(a bunch of veggies and rice that come unmixed and you mixed them inside the steaming hot stone pot) and my girlfriend asked for the glass noodles called chapchae or japchae. The chapchae wasn’t bad. It had some flavor and the glass noodles were equally weird and interesting. My girlfriend did end up liking it, but it was not good enough to warrant double digits in price. The bibimbop that I so craved, quickly shattered my hopes for a favorite Korean place in Connecticut. Simply put, it was flavorless. All the elements by themselves and combined just tasted hot, but with an extremely neutral flavor. I desperately looked for fixes, by putting soy and squirting the contents of the mysterious red bottle on the table, which tasted like some mild chili sauce. Even with my own personal touches, I could not get any flavor out of the dish. It was hot in temperature, so I did get a nice facial and pore cleansing, but my palate was crushed in sadness at the impossibly bland dish in front of me. The chapchae was better, so we ended sharing that one rather than finishing my entrée. I feel bad in giving this rating, because that place looks and feels like it should be a hidden gem, but the dishes just lacked the pizzazz that the reviews alluded to. I don’t know if it was an extreme day off, or if it wasn’t the regular cooks, or if there’s just not much competition in Asian cuisine around there. Maybe, this is what the authentic food tastes like, but I’d rather have whatever Izziban Sushi concocted, because they put out great stuff for similar(though cheaper across the board) prices. Local Unilocalers let me down on this one, unless for some reason, I just got a bad day. Hopefully, that’s the case and their food quality is really as great as others say, because the restaurant’s look, feel, and pricing deserves top-notch Korean flavors. Also, the water that they gave us was oddly offered without ice and it tasted like bad tap water. That’s the kind of water I would expect from buffet single $-type of Asian restaurants, not one that strives to be more than the norm. Will not come back.

Absolutely love this place! Sushi is always very fresh. Gop dol is fantastic. Service is great — everything from the Sushi chef to the wait staff. A few key tips: 1. Make a Reservation — there are only a few tables which means amazing service and food, but definitely get a reservation in so that you do not need to wait, especially since there is not really space. 2. BYO — the restaurant does not serve beer or wine, but you can bring your own which is great!

This food is the bomb! Its such a small little place. But it’s clean and the food is authentic. I come here whenever I’m in Danbury and am eager to bring friends and relatives along with me to try it for themselves.

What a great find! I was looking for somewhere different to take my boyfriend on date night and saw that Edo had great reviews and it absolutely lived up to them. We went on a Tuesday around 7. When we pulled into the parking lot we were worried that we wouldn’t be able to get a table due to its small size. We were very warmly welcomed by the sushi chef and waitress and were seated right away at the last remaining table. The waitress was very friendly and helpful. It was both of our first times trying Korean food so we asked the waitress for her recommendation. She was extremely kind and after just a few questions she steered us both in the right direction. We started with the Korean pancake appetizer. It was slightly under-seasoned for our taste but still delicious. I ordered the organic brown rice and tofu Gobdol, a steaming rice dish with vegetables and an egg. She told me exactly what to do and how to enjoy it based on my personal taste. My boyfriend ordered the Jaeyuk-gooi, spicy pork dish based on her recommendation and we were both more than satisfied with the results. Aside from the delicious food, the setting was intimate and comfortable; perfect for a weeknight meal. Overall, the service and food were as good as, if not better than, we expected. We have already picked out what we will try the next time we go! Highly recommend this quiet comfortable eatery.

Was not feeling up to par and wanted some Udon noodle soup while driving from Poughkeepsie to Hartford. Unilocal helped me find this little gem on my way. I ordered spicy tuna rolls and the seafood soup. The rolls were tasty and had crunchy toppings in them. The Udon was loaded with various seafood. I normally like spicy Udon, and this was not at all.(I didn’t ask for it spicy, so don’t know if they can make it like that). The waitress was very nice and attentive. Very clean, very small dining area(6 tables, 2 sushi bar seats). Overall, I will stop in on my next drive through.

Don’t miss out on this place because of how it looks outside. You can’t judge a book by its cover. Go in and eat eat eat. I saw that Edo II had good reviews on Unilocal so decided to try it out. When we arrived, I had second thoughts after seeing the place. It looks like a Chinese take-out place, and I was expecting a sit down dinner. Luckily, I spotted what I thought was a booth inside and I was hungry enough that I decided to go in. I am so glad I did, this place is a real surprise. It is very small inside, but much much larger than you would expect from the outside. Inside there are enough tables to seat 24 people plus 3 people at sushi bar. So it is small, but not nearly as small as you think. When we entered we were immediately greeted by the chef. He was behind the sushi counter when we entered and quickly came out, directed us to choose a table and brought us menus. A waiter came right over to take our drink orders as we looked over the menu. I love Korean food, but don’t really know enough about it. The waiter spent plenty of time explaining all of the items to us. He was very knowledgeable and not only knew each dish very well, he knew how it was cooked and what ingredients were in each dish. It is refreshing to have a waiter that knows this much about the food. In the end, we selected a very nice Korean Pancake for an starter. The pancake was nicely cooked and seasoned. It came with house made soy sauce, which has a slightly sweet citrus hint of flavoring to it. For main course we decided on Gobdol which is the traditional Korean stone bowl rice dish. I never knew the name of this dish, because each time I ate it I was in Asian and never could really understand what they were saying. This is such a classic dish and it was so well prepared. I got the pork version of the Gobdol Bibumbab. When the dish arrived the waiter asked if mix it up for us table side. Well… thank you… of course you can… after I get a photo though. This was a tasty dish, especially all mixed up. The rice really gets golden brown and crunchy sitting on the bottom of that stone bowl. I like to dig down to the bottom, get that nice golden rice. Then mix up the dish, so more rice continues to cook and get golden on the bottom. This is such a well rounded dish with the pork, rice, vegetables and other Asian flavors. The main course came with a few little side dishes. One of the dishes included a Kimchi radish(tasty with a spicy Kimchi flavor in combination with the sharpness of a raw radish). Another dish was a pickled string radish with raspberry, similar with a Kimchi, but no spice. One of the other sides was peanuts cooked in brown sugar and other spices. Soft and sweet peanuts. This is a gem of a restaurant. The food is great and the staff is so knowledgeable, helpful and friendly.

Came here for lunch with a coworker and I’m still not surprised why Edo remains top tier in Danbury. The lunch specials are phenomenal and you get an INSANE amount of food for the price you pay. I highly recommend the Bulgogi lunch box if you’re looking to be completely satisfied, and for $ 13 who wouldn’t? Not to mention, the owner came out to make sure everything was up to par. Thumbs up. I love Edo, I love the owners, I love the food, I will most definitely be back.

Everything Jay makes here is delicious. One of my regular dishes is his vegetarian bibimbap — a sizzling rice bowl chock-full of rice, vegetables, tofu, and an egg. Perfect for a chilly evening. His sushi is fresh and masterfully presented. He always comes out to chat with us. The restaurant is quite small, and often packed, so you might want to call ahead and reserve a table. Make sure you BYOB; there’s no corkage, but they’ll supply glasses and an opener. Edo II is definitely one of the very best restaurants in the area!

Delicious food, lousy service, a wire in food. –The waiter didn’t understand we wanted TWO orders of gobdol(why would two people share one dinner? We don’t look that skinny) –When the missed second order came out 15 minutes later(!!) we had to ask for the banchan(side dishes) that went with the dish –had to ask for a refill of hot tea AND(here’s the one star-kicker:) –my husband was chewing and found a 1.5 inch piece of WIRE in his vegetables. When shown the wire, they apologized, «maybe from scrubbing vegetables» but did not offer to redo the dish. The wire was big enough and dangerous enough that it could have done some serious internal damage had he not been following his grandma’s advice to chew his food well(would therefore have killed me – ). At the end of the meal, a restaurant with better customer service would have comped the dish, if not the entire meal. If not to avoid a review like this, at least to perhaps keep a customer coming back. After we paid the bill in full, we were offered a small half-dessert(a single mochi disc) to share. Unfortunately not only were we disgusted by that point, we are off sugar. So if you want delicious food, bad customer service, and like playing Russian roulette with your insides, Edo Two is for you!

Wonderful Japanese and Korean food in Danbury, Connecticut. I was surprised that they do take-out, and their service was super fast. During my one hour lunch break, I ordered the«Bibimbab» for take-out and it was ready in 10 minutes. I was also given several yummy side dishes along with my bibimbab as a compliment. The price was very reasonable compared to other places and the food was delicious. I would recommend this to anyone that love Korean food.

Stopped here last night with my daughter because she loves Korean cuisine. We were pleasantly surprised, small seating area but quite comfortable. Great menu with selections to boot, my kid ate like she had never seen food and I got the sushi/sashimi box. Everything was done with care and precision. Well done! The owner came over to our table and asked how it was and continued the conversation with my kid, We will return!

Very good, authentic Korean food. BYOB is awesome! Location is very small so be prepared to wait. Sushi is ok but the bibimbap is my favorite. Staff is always very accommodating and attentive. Great place for a date night if you bring your own six pack or wine. Do not judge a book by its cover — looks kind of weird from the outside but it’s great!

To be honest. Didn’t expect much when we came here. After all why would new yorker with easy access to great authentic korean and japanese food come for korean/japanese restaurant in Danbury, Connecticut? However. Thea restaurant is clean, well decorated and comfortable. The single waiter is inviting, curteous, and always has a smile on. We got Philadelphia roll as appetizer. Pretty good with quality smoked salmon. The side dishes came out with our gobdol bibimbap and hwedabap were miniature but actually very tasty. Especially the tofu, which was better than most I had in NYC. Bibimbap came out steaming hot in the stone pot. The sauce came with it for you to add to your liking. The flavor was very good and authentic(according to my Korean wife). The high temperature of the pot allows for various textures in the rice. Soft mixed with sticky mixed with crunchy. Actually fun and delicious at the same time. Hwedabap used fresh fishes. The sauce was delicious but a bit on the spicy side. If you don’t like the dish too sweet or spicy ask for sauce on the side. Very good experience will definitely come again if we visit the area.
