Yummy food and lightening fast service! I was staying at the Marriott Laguna Cliffs and walked here for breakfast one day. The line was a little long when we arrived, but that’s to be expected at a counter service pancake place on a Saturday morning. Once we ordered our food, it was brought out to the table lightening fast! I ordered the Santa Fe scramble with pancakes and my boyfriend had the sausage and egg special with pancakes. We both enjoyed our meals, but the portions were so huge we couldn’t finish it. We should have just split a meal! I’ll definitely return to Stacks next time I’m in Dana Point.

I don’t give 5 stars often at all, but this place deserves it. Serving breakfast and a few lunch items; open early through lunch. Amazing food! My husband said«this is the best scramble I’ve ever had». I had an omelette that was spot on and their pancakes are absolutely wonderful. We tried a Nutella, strawberry and banana crêpe, as well, and it was outstanding. Beware, however, their portions are huge. Definitely GO!

Always excellent quality food and good service. We come here most weekends and it’s worth the wait. Definitely our favorite breakfast place. One of these days we need to try the lunch menu but the breakfast menu keeps us satisfied. Highly recommend.

YUM!!! Stopped by Stacks to grub before I had to make the long drive back to Vegas. The food was great and VERY reasonably priced! I had the $ 5 breakfast that had 2 pancakes, an egg and 2 pieces of bacon. What a deal!!! My BF had the spicy chicken and waffles and said it was delicious! It looked pretty damn tasty. .. only thing that would’ve made it better he said is if it was melted cheddar cheese on top, instead of some cheesy type of sauce. We sat outside in the glorious sunshine and had some funny people to watch. I like this place! Wish it was in my town. But then again, I wish the beautiful ocean was in Vegas as well. .. Nonetheless, the«little» breakfast was more than ample to keep me cruising all the way to Vegas without even thinking of stopping for a bite to eat. YAY!

Be prepared to wait in line, this place is popular! You line up and order at the counter then find seats on the patio. Great place for breakfast if you want to take your pups. The food is well portioned and quite good. Some great choices here for a relaxed morning and a walk around Dana Point afterward to work off those pancakes!

I love breakfast but let’s be honest… most places don’t know how to make it. It’s usually average, at best, and nothing is really memorable. Well, Stacks… you broke the mold! I’ve been wanting to try this place for a while but couldn’t find the time to drive up to Dana Point. Well, today was that day. We arrived a bit later for breakfast(around 11) and it made a difference. There were table available, inside and out) and there was no line. Our order consisted of: Rocky Road Pancakes(I love sweet food and sugar… this was fantastic. I’m pretty sure I’m diabetic now, but it was worth it) MacNut pancakes– the small stack(and it’s a perfect size). You have to try it with their coconut syrup and boysenberry syrup. Perfect. Kahlua Pork Benedict– the eggs were cooked perfectly and the sauce was delicious! Service was fast and pleasant. Parking is upstairs and around the back. No trouble finding a spot. Place is super kid friendly… tons of highchairs if you need it. Yes, I’d drive 45 minutes for their food. No doubts about it!

My husband and I made our way up to Dana Point to catch the ferry to Avalon, but I wanted to go really early to eat breakfast and walk around the beautiful city. Once we got to Dana Point, I immediately checked Unilocal to find the closest pancake spot and alas, we found Stacks! Stacks is such a cute little restaurant. There is outside seating which is helpful since it’s pretty small inside. The staff were so friendly and accommodating! I ordered a latte and it was really good. My husband and I ordered their combo that comes with a stack of pancakes. My husband had the hash and I turkey sausage… Or was it bacon? The pancakes were truly the star of the show. They were so fluffy and melted like butta’. Ooh, and they give you a whole condiment cup of butter. Like every remarkable breakfast spot, Stacks get very crowded, very fast! Come early with your family and enjoy some delicious pancakes.

Really outstanding BMBA omelette. One of best omelettes I have ever had. Great combo of flavors. Good value also: got potatoes and a stack of pancakes.

Amazing crepes and pancakes. As anyone will tell you be ready for a long line, this place is so good and affordable that it gets packed. Good thing is it moves fast. It has great service and a variety of breakfast on the menu best part is you can walk off the calories by taking a beach walk.

Came here for breakfast as we heard so much about, most of the seating is outdoors, so bring a jacket, it is cold in Dana Point in the morning and it is mostly shaded. They do have heaters which is nice. Ordered the Breakfast burrito, which was very much so loaded with meat cheeses and eggs, very good. Also had the Denver Omelet which as a three egg omelet full of ham peppers and onions, a great way to have a breakfast on the weekend.

Found this place on Unilocal and it was fantastic! We found parking on the top of the building and walked down. It was busy and we had to wait in line for about 15 – 20 min, but it was worth it. After ordering we were given our seats and the food came out pretty quickly. We ordered Corned Beef Hash and Eggs with pancakes. Our pancakes came out steaming hot and you get a choice of syrups. Maple, Boysenberry or even coconut. My eggs were perfectly cooked and the corned beef was delicious! It was busy, but the servers still made sure to make the rounds to check on us. I really liked the menu and I loved the prices. This place is affordable and the food is good. I will totally come back the next time I’m in the area. Highly recommend!

Ok… i love pancake so this makes me biased but this place might be the best restaurant in OC. Their chicken and waffles not only has one of the best waffles you will ever have but their fried chicken katsu, or chicken cutlet @ your favorite Japanese joint is a unique and amazing change from the classic fried chicken. The coconut anything is buttery and flavorful. even if you get one of their burgers get a side of pancakes. This place also has great daily specials shapoopi!

Heard that this place sells Bomb Loco Moco /traditional island food so I had to come. All I need to say is that their loco Moco lives up to the expectations. You have options of getting hamburger meat, spam, Portuguese sausage, etc. and I got the Portuguese sausage and it was really good. They gave 5 big slices with over easy eggs and a ton of rice. For only $ 7.95 and about a 15 minute wait(don’t let the line intimidate you cause it goes by fast!), I absolutely loved the place. My only issue was that the server who kept walking around and handing menus to the people in line and trying to get us all organized wasn’t too friendly. Ignored me twice when I called for her in front of me. Anyways, I highly recommend this place if you’re in Dana Point or driving by PCH and want some good quality breakfast!

I love fresh toast and these are the best! I live in San Clemente and i pass so many times through there but never went because i would see the big line and i hate waiting. That day i went there was a big line but let me tell u, it goes fast. So i was okay with it. I think the drink r expensive but otherwise it all worth it. I love there smoothies!

Took me a while to figure out where they were — the maps app just said, «You have arrived at your destination.» Spotted it. Some street parking, but there’s a nice parking lot behind(and above) Stacks. I ordered the banana mac-nut pancakes — a short stack(good thing, too, as I could barely finish the short stack). Very tasty — the coconut syrup was a tad bit on the thin side, but the whole combo was plenty tasty and I managed to polish it off. About half way through, someone came by and topped off my coffee. Nice way to prep for a day at work! Give them a try!

Decided to give Stacks Pancake House a try when I was staying at my boyfriend’s house. I ordered a short stack of their Mac’Nut Banana pancakes. And upon recommendation, put their coconut syrup on it. OH. MY. GOODNESS. Hands down some of the best pancakes I’ve ever had in my life … And I love pancakes. I also ordered an almond milk chai tea latte that was phenomenal on the cloudy, overcast Dana Point morning I came into Stacks. Great experience, clean tables, and the friendliest service. Happy to add this place to my morning breakfast go-to spots.

Their Blueberry pancakes are pretty great! So my wife and I visit Stack’s every once in a while after church on Sundays. Yes, it’s busy and the line looks daunting. But to be honest they do a pretty good job of getting people in and out. They don’t allow you to show up and grab a table, as this causes issues for people in front of you in line. Just get in line and as you get closer to the front they’ll give you a number and place that number on the table. So no worries about getting a table. Ambiance and Location(Rating 3) I like the outside patio area but with the huge line and people hanging around, it’s never really comfortable. The inside is decent but it’s only big enough to handle about 1⁄3 of the customers. The location over all is pretty good and theirs a few other choices close by. Blue Berry Pancakes(Rating 4) Their blueberry pancakes don’t stack up(pun intended) against Cracker Barrel. They are not quite as crispy and Cracker Barrel uses an amazing«Dickensons» blueberry syrup that’s thick.(I haven’t found it in the stores). But this review is about Stacks. They do a really good job and come close on the pancakes themselves, but they only have«decent» syrup, and or a raspberry syrup(which I prefer). Neither are great. I do get these quite a bit however and my negativity probably stems from not having a Cracker Barrel within 200 miles of us. Portuguese Sausage Omelette(Rating 4) This is not on the menu. You have to do the«Create Your Own Omelette» offering. It’s easy though. I order it with cheese, onions, mushrooms, Portuguese sausage and a side of sour cream. The Portuguese sausage makes the omelette as it’s a taste you probably haven’t had previously. I haven’t found many places offering it and it is very good. It’s not spicy, and not overly salty, but it has a mild very novel flavor that bolsters the omelettes taste a great deal. Give it a shot, you’ll like it.

Finally! I made it to the ORIGINAL, Stacks Pancake House location in Dana Point… It only took me moving 460 miles away. 8) Photo — My braddah & fellow Unilocal*er, Mike W., first told be about Stacks a couple of years ago.(He loves this place… ‘Along with their coconut syrup!) ‘And from the reviews, it appears that a lot of other people are big fans as well. I’ve been to the Stack’s Mission Viejo a few times but never here, until today. I was packing up and getting ready for my long @ss drive back north… ‘Even more long with HAPA Boy, my bully-pit in tow. So, what better way to get ready for the day than with my go-to favorite breakfast, linguica, eggs & rice. Comfort grinds that hit the spot, everytime.(Insert big, Kool Aid smile here) Photo — My friend, FoS, went for another island favorite and crowd pleaser, the ever popular, loco moco. However, opted for SPAM instead of the traditional hamburger gravy.(I tried dissuading her…) Photo — Note: The first time I’ve ever seen a loco moco served with anything else besides hamburger gravy was @ Stacks Mission Viejo. It’s hard for me to order a loco moco other than the way we make’em back home.(Shrugs) When it comes to local grinds, this bruddah likes to stick to the basics. ‘And it was good… ‘All good. «Ono to da max!» Stacks Dana Point is located right on PCH.(Rooftop parking is available.) Photo — I wasn’t too hungry, just wanted to make it down here… ‘Finally. FoS had never been before and wanted to try it as well.(Thumbs up!) If you’ve never tasted Portuguese Sausage,(aka linguica), I highly recommend that you try it… You may just like it, A LOT. I’m surprised when I meet people who have never tried linguica. It’s perhaps one of my favorite sausages!(There’s a Hungarian sausage that’s quite similar that I only discovered a few years ago.) Be warned, it’s very popular in Hawai’i,(i.e. — Fatty; unhealthy) ‘Enjoy! The next time I’m back in SoCal and happen to make it to Stacks, I need to venture off and try something new besides my comfortable favorites. Hmm, maybe something with coconut syrup… ‘Waffles or pancakes perhaps? The kalua pork omelette sounds ono too! HA! Choke choices!(Plenty) A hui hou, Stacks!(‘Unitl next time!) — Big Aloha! While visiting Dana Point for a week, we stopped by Stacks on the first morning. It led to three additional visits for breakfast. It’s a unique ordering process, you order inside and then find a table. I expected that to be a big problem because they were very busy but the process works and we did not have to wait for a table. The food was excellent. I enjoyed eggs and corned beef hash, bacon and toast. My daughters enjoyed waffles and eggs and bacon while my wife enjoyed a variety of omelltes. There was a special item on the menu that was French Toast battered in Capt Crunch cereal and macadamian nuts… it was delicious!!! Great place for breakfast!!!
