My husband has been getting his hair cut from Sports Barber Al for the last two decades. He always does an amazing job and never disappoints. He gives a stellar men’s haircut every time. I highly recommend Al if you are looking for a barber in Dana Point.

Walked right in for a Saturday morning haircut and was greeted by Greg and Alex. I was seated right away and told Greg basically how I style it and wanted to clean up my hair. He knew exactly what he was doing and gave me the perfect cut. Great place to go if you’re into sports and fishing due to all the memorabilia on the walls! I highly recommend this place and have found my weekly Saturday morning spot to get my hair cleaned up for the week to come! Great place and nice folks! Thanks fellas!

Greg Jones does great work! I went in for a repair cut after a local salon butchered my hair and Greg fixed it! Sports Barbers is my new barber. Added perk, Still Waters is down stairs.

I live here in Dana Point and have tried a few local barber shops. I walked in with no appointment and was greeted with a smile from Greg and Alex. These are some good ol’ boys that know what they are doing, how to have a conversation, and have the right tools to do their job(and do it well). Looking forward to bringing my son in to meet the guys. Thank you Greg!

Nice little barber shop. Went in to get my haircut for Valentines Day, because have to look good for the girlfriend, and Alex did not disappoint. Did a great job fixing my hair. Also the conversation in the shop is a lot of fun. Being new to area learned a lot of fun facts. I would definitely go back not only for the cut but conversation as well.

Ahhh one of my favorite spots. Ive been going to see Alex for almost 20 years I guess. When I first started going there I had locks like fricken SAMPSON — and dude always kept me respectable. NOW Alex has to treat my little warriors like endangered species. LOL He has handled that mission with awesome styles that maximizes the locks I have left to their max. Dude is an HARDCORE Fisherman — knows all the best spots to catch everything and always has some great stories to tell — shessh we usually talk through the entire sports spectrum when I’m there. Side story: Was in there two days ago — I had to get a cut a few weeks ago before a wedding up IN Canada — the guy screwed it up a bit and it has been bugging me ever since. So Called Alex — He say’s come on in — ASSOON as I walk through the door he say’s «Who hacked your hair?» BEFORE I told him what the problem was. THATKIND of attention to detail is what I want from my barber. Bottom line — Dude is wicked talented and he cares about his customers.

Here is a concept that really works: Alex surrounds his shop with sports memorabilia, has a view of the Dana Point Yacht Harbor, and has the TV tuned to the latest sports page = and gives a great haircut. OK lots of places try this. Whats the difference? Alex actually knows whats happening and can rap it down on any subject from fishing to football, from local politics to Laker logistics. He’s like the true small town American barber of memory who not only makes you look good he makes you feel good too. He’s an institution in his town and one well worth experiencing. — He’s a rare breed — a great guy with a great skill at a great price. Been getting my hair cut there since my kids were small. Never had a bad one.

Overpriced! $ 28 for a barber? That’s what salons charge and you get a wash and a few glasses of wine. But on the upside it’s right next to Stillwater:))

Fine for what you are paying for, a little more than your typical high and tight would cost but I went in because I was in desperate need of a quick cut and my regular was not available. Honestly felt more like a salon than your typical barber shop. Staff is really nice though and it was a comfortable enough atmosphere.

Alex is a real good guy; good skills with the scissors, too. I’ve been going to Sports Barber for several years(over 4); don’t always get my haircut here as I travel for business sometimes. My only downside is that they aren’t open on Monday’s, and I like to get my haircut earlier in the week(not on weekends). Regardless, I’ve shopped around S. OC /Beach Cities and have settled in the comfortable surroundings, the warm towel, and the good cut for the price. Its more than Super Cuts, and the cut at Sports Barber IS worth the money for sure. Let’s hope they keep prices around $ 25-$ 28 for wash and cut… they also have some snacks handy! So, all in all its a good value, talented barbers, and great view /setting. Get ready from some fish stories!

Been going to Alex for 25 years and never a bad cut. My wife is always happy with the results. Ellen’s cuts are great as well so its hard to choose who to go to.

I go to Ellen here, when I’m in Orange, and she’s great. Does a wonderful scissor cut to keep my haircut looking good even when it gets a bit long. The $ 28 is well spent, for sure, particularly compared to what I have to pay for a cut when I’m home in San Francisco.

Al the Sportsbarber has been our family barber for over 15 years and we have enjoyed the service and the quality of cut is the best. Both my son and i have enjoyed his fishing stories and the atmosphere is very relaxing.

I was looking for a shop to get my hair cut near my mom’s place in Laguna Niguel. The Sports Barber came up on the internet as one of the few in the area. My son and I tried it last year for the back-to-school cut before returning to Utah for the school year and my son loved it… good style, good conversation, nice location, low key and they know what they are doing. This year we went back and I got my hair cut. It was the same — good service, good timely styled cut, nice service and convienient location and availability… One thing I forgot about this time and required me to make a trip back is that its cash only and I did not get the towel service this time when I came in which would have been nice. Overall I recommend the place, i will be back and think that if it works for me it should work for about anyone that has hair still on their head! Willy D

Just called this shop because their website offered new clients a FREE haircut. When I called to make an appointment the lady said…“oh, we discontinued that offer”. Well, take the offer off of your website then. That is bait and switch tactics. I asked how much a regular haircut was…$ 28 !!! HOLYMOSES! I will do it myself from now on at that HIGH rate!

Real man’s barber shop. Clippers(scissors are for us girls), dead flesh and sports hang on the wall, the Owner is a real fisherman and its got an ocean view. Come on, how good can it be for the guys. Hubby’s been getting his buzz cut there for longer than I want to admit. The clients range from local kids to pro athletes(surfers, baseball, football) through retirees. Everyone is the same in the barber’s chair. Men(or ladies with sons that need a little male bonding) if you’ve been missing a real barber shop, just call Alex. Bring cash(a cut is about $ 25 plus tip which is a bargain) because, well it is what it is. Make an appointment, if you can, because the fish may be biting and well a man has to have his priorities. Tourists, its worth the price of admission just to get the input of the real locals on what to do, where to eat or where to go fishing.
