Had a blast here for Father’s Day weekend. We came in for happy hour and enjoyed some delicious(and STRONG) cocktails. We sampled a few rolls and some sushi song with their coconut shrimp. The rolls we had were phenomenal(Jackie Chan and Dynamite) and enormous for the happy hour price. My parents loved the coconut shrimp and my yellowtail was fresh. Our waiter was delightful and made the experience so much fun! I’ll definitely be back next time I find myself in Dana Point.

Location great, right across from Harbor. We walked there from Laguna Cliffs Marriott on a Saturday at 8:30pm. Sat outside. Heaters were functional and warming. Service good, not great. Mahe roll very good, but the fish in the center was a little warmer than I am used to in a roll. It was certainly from the flash fry they did to the outside of it. Cocktails good. Live music was playing inside. Very loud. Glad we sat outside. Still got the festive feel but could still talk with each other. Pricing on point, for Dana Point. We will likely go again.

Went to Mahe for Happy Hour. Love the location! It’s near the marina and beach, so after dinner you can take a nice stroll along the coast. For happy hour, we almost ordered everything they had available on their HH specials menu. We ordered the following: Beef Sliders, Ahi Sliders, Calamari, Dragon Sushi Roll, Crunchy Roll, Spicey Tuna Roll, Beef skewers, Chicken Skewers, and Mai Tais ALLAROUND! Of all the apps we ordered, the Beef Sliders were the BOMB!!! The beef patty was thick and juicy, topped with glazed grilled onions on a Hawaiian roll. It was soooo good, we ordered 2 more plates(3 sliders per plate). We highly recommend! The grilled ahi slider was okay. I think the ahi was over cooked and the mango salsa soaked the Hawaiian roll. The flavor was there, but all the components didn’t hold up. The calamari was good, but I wished they had prepared the calamari with fresh chopped up squid, then dusted with flour and dipped in a home made batter. Their calamari seems to have come out of box and then deep fried. They drizzled a siracha type sauce on the calamari and accompanied it with ramekin filled with an aioli type sauce. Their sushi was alright(not gonna lie) but I’ve had better. Both skewers were cooked perfectly… That I enjoyed. The mai tai were STROOOOOONG!!! Wow! Happy Hour is only available at the bar/lounge area. Overall this place is great and I plan to return

Our dining experience was very mediocre. My family and I were told to check this place out because it was so good. Service was extremely slow but wait staff was super nice. Good location in Dana point and it was at least enjoyable sitting outside with the heating lamps. My cocktail was average and sounded much better on the menu. We ordered appetizers as our meal and again all was just average. Calamari strips tasted very much like fish sticks, sushi was ok, but the best out of three was the ahi tuna appetizer which was good at best. Don’t think I’ll be back…

I recently went to Mahe for a bite to eat. Gabe was our waiter. All I have are positive things to say about Gabe. My fiancé is really picky and always takes forever to order, Gabe took the time to give her at least 10 recommendations while being personable and engage in a conversation. I was impressed with this service and will be going back. Food was good, service was excellent. Thanks Gabe !!!

This place is so awesome! Great ambiance and service! They have the best bread!(if you’re into bread and butter like I am lol) The MaheTini is my favorite drink and I LOVE the Rain roll. Definitely a place to check out if you’re ever in Dana Point! Gabe took great care of our party

Only for hostess Kylie! Came I at 5 for happy hour, promised a 30 – 45 minute wait for 2 tables. She seated tables of 5 before us and everyone else until no tables were available. She had a bad attitude and is making the restaurant look bad. I’m not one to write bad reviews but I am NOTHAPPY with this poor service. Had to sit in the dining room before happy hour ended… It’s now 7:05 and she never bothered to find us.

Came here for dinner, and maybe I made the mistake of ordering out of the realm of what a place like this is known for, but I did. Had the Mahe Burger and the Grilled Romaine Salad, both clearly not fish/sushi items, nor Asian inspired. The burger arrived and I immediately noticed the arugula was yellow, shriveled and not fresh by any means. I proceeded to remove the dead greens, realizing quickly that there were more and more under the bun and mixing with the sauce. By the time I had finished removing the bad arugula, there was not much left in the burger. I placed the greens on my side plate, hoping the server would take notice, but she did not. The burger was cooked well done, not medium rare as I requested, terribly under seasoned and the bun had been grilled on the outside, not on the cut side, causing the bun to be hard yet falling apart… The salad was in an equally disturbing state of «existence». The romaine was pale and ghastly, not green and vibrant. The bottom of the romaine had not been sliced off, which granted you would not eat, but serving a brown, aesthetically displeasing vegetable to someone is not okay. Also under seasoned and lifeless, this salad is going down with what I have come to refer to as «That Salad». The mundane, limp, sad attempt to serve something that could in fact be very delicious, if properly executed, but done very poorly instead. You’ve probably had this before in many other a bad restaurant or cheap buffet. Now, I do not Unilocal.Ever. I don’t necessarily believe in critiquing a place of business to a level that would offend the hard efforts of those in the industry. I have eaten at my fair share of spots that I have heard are good or bad, and received the opposite experience. I get it. However, this experience and food left me so completely, soulfully upset, that I would be remiss if I did not express my disappointment with Mahe. This is a heart breaker. Dana Point is a beautiful town with so much potential, yet we have to suffer from this level of incompetence, of lack of caring, of complete disregard for the soul of a dish. Buy some fresh greens, season them, cook and plate with love, and don’t feed people bad food. Or find a chef that pays attention to the kitchen. The only reason I do not have a picture, is that my battery was too low to use my camera. Otherwise y’all would be seeing some dead, pitiful Arugula.

Another great dinner at Mahe! I’ve had a few business dinners here for 25+ people. Service is always great and the food is delish. There is something for everyone. Thanks to Obie for helping me plan this latest dinner. We will be back.

The food and service is great. I really enjoyed the grilled romain salad with feta cheese and balsamic c dressing and miso soup. I loved the green jasmine iced tea. My family loved their sushi, the Jackie Chen-California roll with salmon on top, California roll, and spicy tuna. The beet salad is also delicious. The restaurant is nice with seating in side and outside. The outside seating has heaters, but I sat inside because it is evening. Overall experience was wonderful.

Had the worst sushi ever… the fish couldn’t stand alone without the under seasoned or lack of seasoning of the sushi rice… not a very good sake selection either, however looking at their happy hour prices, no wonder. We’ve come to Mahe about 4 times and each time has decreased in satisfaction… we kept hoping it would get better and never did. Haven’t tried the teppen grill, for the prices, would the meal be as unsatisfactory as the sushi? We will never come here again. I don’t know why we didn’t continuously check the Unilocal reviews over the years… we wasted so much money here!!!

Went down to Dana Point with a few girlfriends for drinks and appetizers. Had Gabe as our server and he was delightful. Super knowledgeable and very attentive. He recommended the JJ role and it was so delicious. One of the best roles I have ever had(and ive had alot of roles). We will definitely be back. 5 star service and 5 star food! Thanks Gabe for making our night fun!

Nice ambient . Worst cioppino ever. Like tomato water soup. Bland. Hardly any seafood in it. Chopped cheap looking veggie. Not even much of those . Need to delete from menu or change name to «soup with a hint of seafood»

Came here for a birthday party. There’s so much construction and valet only so be ready to bring $$ for tip. By the time I got here the party is already seated so off to the back. Can someone turn on the air? We were sweating like pigs! We asked the waitress if they could turn up the air and her response«trust me I was thinking about that too». What? No I’m sorry this is the best we could do, no I will try my best, nothing. We ordered– got my mango roll and my bro got the Mahe burger with fries. I also got the beet salad with chicken. Got the roll within 10 minutes. It was okay, decent, edible. The rest of the food didn’t come until about 30 minutes later. Mind you there’s no I’m sorry for the delay. The Mahe burger was good but I’ve had better burgers. The tempura avocado is a nice surprise. Fries were perfectly cooked. My beet salad came and all I could think of is that they should not call it beet salad bec there were only a few pieces of beets in there. It wasn’t enough to be called that. The chicken was moist but the salad wasn’t that great. It was average. Our waters were never refilled. I know there’s drought in CA but at least ask if I wanted more water?! I was parched!!! I left the place and went straight to a McDonald drive through for an iced tea. Seriously!

Food was delicious! This is the perfect spot if you have some people in your group who don’t like sushi and rolls. It has a good selection of Japanese and American cuisine. We Ordered: Mahe roll(quantity was more appetizer like) but yummy Stuffed chicken– was delicious and very large quantity Mahe sliders– yummy. Although an appetizer it is quite filling. Crab Mac n cheese– crablicious Seafood pasta came with scallops, shrimp and lobster. They were not skimpy on their seafood either. They also have happy hour specials all night at the bar which was awesome.

Mahe could be MaEH because it’s eh. I’m not your crazy sushi person, but I know when it’s bland, and mine was bland. I got the spicy tuna roll, and two pieces of ahi and they just were very tasteless! Don’t bother with the Mahi-tini. I am pretty sure it’s premixed, and sadly, tastes all of pineapple juice. I think the only alcohol in it is the vodka soaked piece of fruit, and that’s it folks! Service was okay? My food came out first and I was starving, so I ate. By the time I was done, my friend’s Rain Roll was delivered. She agreed it was very bland as well. The timing was bad, we should have been able to eat together, it’s not like the sushi would have gone cold. Would consider giving it another chance, but maybe try the sliders or something, and the wine.
