This review is long overdue!
I have been getting my hair done by Philip for over 4 years and have never been happier. I have been pretty low maintenance with my hair, usually just getting a good cut every few months and every time Philip would do something interesting in a subtle way that would make me feel like I was red carpet ready when i left the salon. He takes his time and never tries to «up sell» you on anything (which I appreciate). I also feel like his prices are more than reasonable for the amount of time and care he puts into each client. Most recently Philip and I decided to get crazy and add a few highlights to my otherwise long, brown, straight hair. I can not tell you what huge difference this made not only in the look, but the extra body it added. I have been resistant to color for a long time b/​c the the additional time/​maintenance/​cost, but Philip did it in such a natural way it doesn’t look like I have some crazy roots showing even though I haven’t been back since May. It was a subtle ombré’ look. I am over due for a cut and look forward to seeing Philip soon. You should definitely give him a try, I’m sure you’ll be hooked too. My husband, 6 year old son and tons of friends use Philip too.
Philip works out of Ego Salon in the Monarch Beach Plaza off PCH/​Crown Valley in Dana Point. The salon is nice, but not pretentious. It has a laid back vibe and they sell tons of great hair products as well as gift stuff, like candles, lotions, etc.
Philip is busy, but you can usually get in within a week or so notice. Sometimes they can squeeze you in because of cancellations. Overall a great experience.

I came to Philip when I first moved to orange county from college. My hair was a disaster. I had no money in college so was always going to beauty schools or waiting forever to highlight my hair. I found a coupon to EGO salon and an angel gave me Philip. He spent so much time with me, I couldn’t beieve it. I have long blonde hair (I am in one of his pictures) and he never makes me feel like he is rushing. He truly takes pride in his work from start to finish and will not let me leave his chair until he is completely satisfied with the entire product
That was 5 years ago and now all of my close friends and family go to him as well. I love Philip because he does great hair but also for who he is. He never makes me feel bad about not getting my hair done the normal time frame most hair stylist believe you should go (4 – 6 weeks). Instead, he raves since I never go that is why my hair is so healthy (not true but so sweet). If you want someone that wlll do a good job and make u feel beaitufl and care if you are happy at the end, go to Philip. I love you Philip and I am calling you right now because my hair needs you!!!

Philip is an amazing stylist! Our family all has very curly and hard to manage hair. We all love to have our hair blown out which has always been a struggle for other stylists. Not Philip, he seems eager to see our happy faces when he asks if he can blow our hair out for us! Not only is he skillful in his profession, he is also such a great person!
We will never switch! Philip you are amazing!

After getting my hair done with Philip, I will never go to someone else again! Curly hair is really delicate but I know I am in great hands!
