Only a street away from gateway or TSELOGS! Why via mare? My bestfriend Razell and I’s comfort together food is Filipino food and she talks about this place all the time, so I said«okay fine I guess», I was not expecting much haha. We get there and just so you know, it’s very hidden but it’ll be close to the Daly City library. Their parking lot is where the parking lot for the apartments are(which I thought was cool too). We got inside and seated right away, the restaurants atmosphere was nice and service was extremely good. I ordered my sacred Chicken Sisig with rice, so so so flavorful and juicy, over rice even better. The portions are HUGE. Razell got the calamari and it was a serving meant for 5 people! Crazy! We had so much left overs to take home and why not 5 stars instead of 4? Kind of hard to find! But I definitely found a solid Filipino restaurant to go to.

I ate dinner here alone the other evening. This place is a solid 3 star. It would possibly be a 4, but I think it was a little over priced for what you get. The place is clean and attractive. The service was prompt and attentive. I’m very familiar with good Filipino food and I enjoyed my meal here. I had beef Kaldereta, rice and and mango juice. All of it was most tasty. The rice was made correctly and flavors of the tender Kaldereta beef and the veggies were rich and enjoyable. The mango juice was VERY good. The Kaldereta did not come with salad or anything else. The rice was an extra charge. The portions were adequate for one person. It was all very good but I thought it was little pricey in line with the portion size and being only a two item meal for one. I would recommend & I would go back again for sure if I didn’t live in Los Angeles. It’s A-OK…

Came here for a NY/Birthday Party. Food was surprisingly average and meh. So many other places you should try.

This review is only for the service because my family and I didn’t even get to try the food. We walked in around 8:15pm and they said they were closed even though there were still customers in the restaurant. If you say you are open till 9pm, stay open till 9pm. I want to come back and try this place because I heard so many good things, but with this experience I don’t know how my next experience will be.

Just held a baptism reception for thirty and was so impressed with the food, service and ambiance. I gave the menu ahead of time which was great because the wait was not long at all once we sat down. They allow you to bring a cake and self-serve so there is no cake cutting fee which I liked, yet our server was so nice and helped anyway. We will definitely come back and recommend this restaurant for special occasions and large groups.

I really enjoyed my time here with my lady! She took me here to surprise me which is always FUN! We got here in the evening on a Friday and it was really nice. We were seated near the window which was cool. The menu is rather nice as well. Lots of your typical favorites and I just wanted the Caldereta. That’s my fav! We also ordered some lumpia and adobo. This order was definitely the right choices for this night. The service was excellent. Everyone was attentive and made sure that our food was good. Not too crowded on this particular evening which was cool. The food was really good. Good sauce and spices coming from the Caldereta and the adobo was good but I wish that the portions had been a bit larger. But, that is just my criticism. Oh, the rice was good as well. Two BIG scoops just how I like it, that works! Oh, the mango drink that I ordered was also AMAZING. Not too sweet and just right, BAM! The décor of this place is rather nice and over the top in a good way. Very spacious and the floors are so clean. The lighting in this place is also very tastefully positioned and lit. #Datenight #fullbelly

Service was good. Waiters were quick in refilling drinks and to get us what was needed. Food was ok. I’ve had better but it’s ok. And a little pricey. But that’s like a lot of filipino restaurants.

Food is very mediocre. I felt so deceived thinking that they are the same Via Mare in Manila. Although when we asked the server, he said that they were not affiliated. The Bam-i was ok, it had to be seasoned with lemon and patis. Bibingka was terrible and the fresh lumpia was ok, the green wrapper was very strange though, not appetizing at all! Our server was very friendly and courteous, his name is Brian.

I love how the food here tastes a lot like home. Their Crispy Pata is nice and crispy. The Chicken Sisig is better than a lot of places around the Bay Area. I don’t think I’ve had anything in their menu that I didn’t like. And I’ve been here a couple of times so I know what I’m talking about. It’s a great place to bring your non-Filipino friends to experience authentic Filipino food.

Amazing food! But … WARNING!!! Keep in mind when you eat here that they already include the tip in the bill they give you, when it comes to paying the bill, DONOT give a cash tip because if you do, they will STILL take it out of your card, giving themselves a double tip. Very shady and dishonest. When you try to ask them about it they act as if it it’s your own fault for misunderstanding how tipping works. Shame, the food was so good.

This place isn’t bad. Definitely affordable and great for bigger groups. It’s hard to please my palette so this is a good place to go. I like their lumpia shanghai. Pretty good! the ambiance is also not bad. As always it’s super cold in Daly City. So bring a jacket! It’s clean. It’s not bad for a Filipino restaurant. Staff is friendly. Overall, a good place to take the friends and family out to for lunch or dinner.

We’ve been here 3 times. Service is spotty, but not too bad. We came on Mother’s Day for dinner. They were pretty busy, but they were attentive enough to keep us happy. Waiter did forget my glass of ice though. Lol. The food was pretty good. Nothing spectacular, but good enough to make us repeat customers. We had the Binagoongan, Kare Kare, beef sinigang, bangus belly, pancit, and a few other items. All of it was pretty good. I liked the Binagoongan a lot. Serving size was fine, but definitely not on the generous side. We’ll probably be back again. My mom seems to like this place despite the tons of other Filipino restaurants.

This place has good food but too bad the service really ruins the whole experience. I don’t blame the servers themselves but the owners because this place is severely understaffed. There were only 2 servers there on a Friday night and they were the only two people clearing tables and serving the entire restaurant. The bad service started when we walked in when it took literally 10 minutes before we got menus and we had to flag one of the waiters to get them. Once the food started coming out no one ever came back to see if we needed anything else or refill water. Basically it was all on you. At the end they forgot to bring us our dessert and didn’t clear the table so we had all the empty and uses plates there as we were eating dessert. The food is actually good so it’s unfortunate but unless they get better service it’s not worth the trouble.

Came here today for an early dinner. We had Kare-Kare, Via Mare Bbq Pork, Grilled Pompano, &2 servings of Dilis Fried Rice, Everything was just doing great. We were all talking about how good the crispy dilis was. The Pork Bbq was tasty too … Then here comes the bill… Checked the bill it was around $ 78+ total so i gave $ 100 in cash. When the change came to the table i was only given $ 11 plus few coins … So i said wait a minute theres something wrong in the picture. I called the server to ask for the receipt coz i want to make sure that if i read the bill right? And guess what? They gave me an order slip that they just made instead of the original bill that they showed me earlier? I asked for the original itemized bill since i want to make sure that i got the correct amount before i tell them that my change was $ 10 short. They took the bill to double check(if they really are double checking it) and said they will give me the itemized bill. But to my surprise they couldn’t produce the receipt. Pretty shady huh? In a span of 10 minutes they cannot produce the receipt? Isn’t it a standard to every restaurant to have 2 copies of the receipt? One for the merchant and one for the customer? They can’t even show me the receipt that i was asking and kept telling me tons of BS. The funniest thing they said was they only give duplicate receipt to those people who pay with card. With people who pays cash they don’t. WTF !!! One server said that they can’t show me the receipt because its for their records? Uhmmmm i want my receipt! Why can’t you show it to me. I am a customer and i have the right to get my receipt. And i do not want a hodge podge written sales receipt that you guys reproduced. I cannot just leave the restaurant without a receipt? What if they claim i didn’t pay and i got nothing to show them since i don’t have a receipt? What if i got food poison from their food? I do not have any proof that i ate at your restaurant? What if i need to give a copy of the receipt for reimbursement? I am very dissatisfied with the way your people handle the situation. They kept insisting on what they think is right and did not address the need of their customer. Maybe a quick call to BBB will get your people to do what they’re supposed to do? Or maybe the reason why they can’t show me the original receipt is because the $ 78 that i paid went straight to their pocket. You be the judge !!! To the Manager /Owner – if you are unaware that this kind of practice is happening in your restaurant please keep an eye. Maybe you should hire a mystery diner.

I’ve been here twice and the food has always been consistent and the service is always great. I wish there was one by where we live in Belmont but I’d drive there over and over to have the most authentic Filipino food there is. I am dreaming of the Bicol Express and the Kare Kare. When we went there there was no Crispy Pata but I bet that is also amazing. My boyfriend who is Greek/Italian and is very picky with what he eats LOVED everything he ate. Caldereta was yummy as well as the Bam-i. OMG. Just reviewing the joint makes me wish I was there eating the food again. This place is a must try for you Filipino food lovers or Filipinos who are homesick. Close your eyes when you first bite into the Belly Bangus and you will be transported back to Lola’s kitchen! TRYIT, peeps!!!

WOW! Their servings is good only for my 11 month daughter. Ordered food for pickup earlier and when we got home, surprised to see how little the servings were for all three dishes. Ordered Kaldereta which was rich with bell peppers and potatoes and four or five pieces of meat, bistek Tagalog with very thin pieces of tapa(it was good) and Calamari. For the price of $ 46.xx it wasn’t worth it, uhmmm yup not worth it. AND before that I wanted to order their Crispy Pata the guy who answer said«pinapakuluan pa po baka hindi umabot… «im like okay??? Not satisfied. Food was OK for the price and too little for a party of four.
