Nemenzo Polynesian Dance Group

I used to dance for Nemenzo back when I was a little girl. I loved dancing here. Sooooo much. I wish I could go back. Now that I’m older and have a 3 year old, I’m just patiently waiting until she turns 4 so I can enroll her. Can’t wait to get my daughter into the culture of Hawaiian dancing.

Nemenzo dance studio is truly a hidden gem in the Bay Area. This is THE group to go learn about Tahitian dance and culture. They are extremely authentic from terminology to dance moves and routines to music and drumming. Nene is a great teacher and if you’re looking to get into shape, try warming up with her girls for 15 minutes, she’ll have you sweating like crazy! Desiree is also a wonderful instructor! Both Nene and Desiree have been making multiple trips to Tahiti every year to learn from an official dance school there! Also the director Aunty Ely is the sweetest woman in the world and loves having and welcoming new dancers. Nothing will make you want to move your body like Nemenzo’s live drumming and music. Anyone interested in learning about Tahitian culture, dance, music, or drumming this is the place to go!!!
P. S. There’s a really hot musician named Kris. I think he’s French from Tahiti. His accent is to die for!!!

This group is really sweet and welcoming. I love the routine warmup; they definitely work on your stamina. The live drumming during practice is really nice to have. If you live in San Francisco or in Daly City, this is definitely a fun activity to check out and participate in the class.

I’ve seen this group before at competitions and now i have the chance to dance with them. The group is so friendly (especially Auntie Elly) and everyone is always willing to help out if you have any questions with a routine. The dance’s are not only beautiful but so much fun to learn. And of course the live drumming during practice is of course a plus! There’s classes for pretty much every age range and even for boys too. On top of everything the dancing is a great way to get into shape if your looking for a fun way to work out :)

I initially contacted Elizabeth for my own wedding, not only was she thorough and professional she was overly generous on the day of my wedding. She surprised me, my husband, his family who flew in from Hawaii and other parts of the country, but my guests are still talking about how elegant, authentic, tasteful and beautiful their performance was.
