The wait was long, the food was distasteful. Pupusas where full of nothing but masa. Gallo pinto was disappointing. I only gave it two stars because the fried cheese and yuca was good but you can’t really go wrong with those. Oh and the guy at the front was cool. Sorry!

We have been here before a couple of times. I love Nicaraguan food… having grown up with it, I have some personal favorites but it always goes down to the traditional, gallo pinto, platanos… cacao. This place has great cacao! My sister and mom always just drive to get the cacao if we are in the area. That was delicious! I ordered the gallo pinto with chicken thighs, platanos, queso, and cabbage salad. The dish was very underwhelming, unfortunately. The platanos and queso were great. The gallo pinto was not seasoned so well and I felt the proportions of beans to rice was just too much. The chicken thighs(the star of the plate) were not seasoned at all and was very dry. I was surprised to how little flavor it had and was just plain. I’ve had pollo asado in Nicaragua and it’s delicious! Even in little fritanga places. So for the $ 14.99 price tag, this place didn’t hit the mark. My mom’s sopa the res was good, and the beef was tender. I would probably try that next time.

Love coming here for breakfast. can be a little hectic when its busy, food took forever, but a busy restaurant says a lot ! lets just say it was worth the wait. The atole de elote was perfect, especially in this cold weather

My chicken was extremely overcooked. :(I had high hopes as the restaurant is close to my house. My boyfriend’s dish was delicious. He ordered the chancho frito which was delightful. The menu has very traditional dishes so I might have to give it another go.

Al Fin why haven’t I been here before??? I know it’s like when you drive and you blink, you pass bye. But today is another story. I was at Walgreens getting money from the credit union ATM. I decided to go to the taco shop near bye because I haven’t tried it yet. Walk bye Al Fin, and think I really should try this place next time. Walk to the taco shop and CLOSED sign. AHHH oh well Plan 2. Return to Al Fin and try two different pupusa and the Nacatamal. Not bad made my order and had a seat at the bar seating with in 5 — 10 minute server comes up to me with the check and the food all wrapped up and ready togo. $ 11.00 I couldn’t believe my eyes. So much food for $ 11??? When I got home Me and my Auntie had a feast. Everything was super tasty and hot. The Cook asked if I wanted the Nacatamal hot or cold. I told her that I was Gonna eat it when I got home. So if you are not gonna eat it right away I would have it made cold so you can just steam it hot. I am so coming back to try more things on the menu. Just don’t blink you might miss something good. It’s right next to the Western union.

Al Fin is what I’ve been searching for my whole life! The food is definitely that ma y pa home cooked type of meal. And the price is right. It’s a small restaurant. Not many workers. Only about 8 tables. But It feels like home. I ordered a pupusa with Gallo pinto and maduró. Oh! And queso frito! Everything was on point. So good that my plate was bare and clean at the end of my meal. I ate everything! That’s rare! There is something for everyone here. It’s not just Nica food. They have hamburgers. Steak. And enchiladas. Pupusas. There is a huge variety. The best of the best was the Cacao! I am still dreaming about it! The best chocolate delight you could ever taste. I had 2 glasses in one sitting!(Don’t judge me!) it was that good! Be sure to visit this gem if your in Daly City. Or on your way to the airport. Order what you wish but be sure to try the cacao!

The owner Al, is So arrogant! I’ve been coming here for a little while, beause the food is decent, but a person can only take so much attitude, and he is very rude! So with that said, I’m never going back. If!!! he changes his stinky attitude, maybe, maybe! I might go back.

This place is terrible. I’ve been here on an separate occasion and with my second visit I just knew I had to let write this review. I went in to have lunch with my family. And there’s only one older lady seating and taking orders. We waited 20minutes for them to take our order and on top of that and extra 50 minutes for the food to arrive. And all we ordered was Pupusas it was nothing complicated. A piece of advice to the owners. Give good service with a smile have your guest feel welcomed. And don’t have them wait sol long. Never coming back here

This place used to be good at some point but it has become worst and worst with time, I stopped eating there because of the bad quality food, small portions and high prices, me and my husband decided to give a second chance but it failed horribly again. Service was ok but it didn’t make up for the lack of Nicaraguan food flavor.

Food was alright. I usually get the basics, tajadas con queso frito y ensalada. You can’t go wrong with that. But the waiter Al, was so rude. and food is over priced. I decided to give this place a 2nd change but then again fail. I am A Daly City local, I will make sure everyone knows how rude the service provided by Al and the over price this place this is.

I’ve lived in this neighborhood for 13 years, and tried Al Fin for the first time about a week ago — wish I discovered it sooner! I went there with my friend, neither of us have had Nicaraguan food. The lady who works there is EXTREMELY helpful. Her english isn’t the best, but she understood what I was asking and was able to assist — that’s what’s important! The Chile Rellano is AMAZING. If you like cheese, get the fried cheese sides. You will NOT regret it. The Chicken dinner plate was also delicious — I wish the portion was a bit bigger for the price. We also had 2 pupusas: cheese, and zucchini-cheese. Both were great! I love the side of pickled slaw — I ended up asking for extra. It’s a very good compliment to the other dishes. Our least favorite thing? The plantains. They were far too mushy for my liking — maybe I can ask them to crisp them up a bit? Will definitely be coming back to try the rest of the menu!

I came into this place with pretty high expectations, as my Mom is from Nicaragua and I grew up eating her and my Grandma’s cuisine. I have to say that they lived up to those, and more. Their gallo pinto is delicious and flavorful. Queso frito is really good, but you can’t really go wrong with that. The thing that stands out about this place to me(and a lot of other Unilocalers) is their pupusas. They are cooked perfectly and fresh to order. They’re so much less oily than other popular pupusas in the area(El Zocalo in SSF.) so you don’t feel as heavy and gross eating these. The older woman serving all the tables is very sweet and friendly. Luckily we go in off peek times so it’s never too busy nor do we wait too long. Restrooms are clean and we’ll kept.(restrooms will reveal a lot about the overall cleanliness of a Restaraunt.) Great, authentic food, bold flavor a, good service and decent prices. This place is a must try! If you’ve never tried Nicaraguense cuisine this is a great place to start.

This is my third time to this joint so the review is a little bit overdue. I was craving some pupusas(cheese and mixed), and some fried yuca root. Pros: The pupusas were remarkably less greasy than other places and still tasted good. The yuca root was crunchy even after some condensation build up(to go order). Friendly and fast service. Cons: Street parking in this area can be a pain during peak hours. Not enough tomato sauce for the amount of pupusas ordered(over 12). The experience was pleasant, food and service were good. I now have a restaurant to go to when we are craving pupusas.

This restaurant is spacious and clean and they have high chairs available. The food was good, but honestly I’ve had better pupusas for significantly less money. The service was SLOW. Granted, there’s just one lady serving all the tables. But when you’re dining with a 9 month old, you just don’t have an hour+ of leisure. Two of the people I was with asked for water several times before it was brought. We had a spill and had to go look for the server behind the counter to get a rag and cleaned it up ourselves. It wasn’t a bad experience but I won’t come here again.

I’ve been coming here sporadically for almost 10 years and have always had a great experience. I’ve never seen them busy so I felt very compelled to write a review to help them stay in business! I am not a Latin American food snob so I’m not even going to attempt to compare it to other Nicaraguan food. If it’s good, it’s good! Hubby and I got an order of Nacatamal($ 5.50), Nicaraguan style tamale served with a few pieces of bread, and it was DELICIOUS! I love the flavor of the banana leaf cooked into the smooth cornmeal. It was topped with a delectable slice of pork belly and steamed in a paper wrapper. Chancho con Yucca(Pork with steamed yucca, $ 10?) plate was great: pork was tender, not a bit greasy, and yucca was paired nicely. It was a tad bland but once I added some salt, the flavors just danced on my tongue. Fried cheese($ 2) comes in an order with two triangle pieces and was pretty yummy. Texture was bouncy like string cheese.(Actually, now that I think of it, it was very similar to mozzerella, the firmer kind not floating in whey.) And finally, papusas($ 2 ea) with the standard cole slaw type garnish and tomato dipping sauce was very good. Crispy and chewy at the same time. All flavors are the same price; we opted for the bean, cheese, and pork ones. All of this, with two sodas came out to be only $ 25 and we had at least half of it leftover to take home. Great family owned place, clean, friendly. Will definitely recommend and be back again.
