As soon as I walked inside I knew there was no chance I’d be ordering sushi here. The menu board above the register was messy and hard to read. On first glance the restaurant was dingy and smelled of old oil. We ordered our food and were seated at a sticky little booth with duct tape on the seats. My son needed to use the restroom and had to go down stairs into a basement almost fell. There were also drainage issues with both the sink and the toilet. I ordered the chicken teriyaki. At first glance it did not look appealing. The portions were fine but the teriyaki looked lighter in color than normal, more like a gravy, and tasted overly sweet. The chicken itself was awful. It tasted like meat that had been precooked and then microwaved. The vegetables that came with it were ok. I ate the rice and left hungry. My husband ate his food, but agreed it was not good. He’ll eat anything though. We will not be returning.

I ordered the shrimp yakisoba and did not like it at all, the shrimp was tiny and overcooked, the sauce was way too sweet. I found it to be pricey for the lack of vegetables in it. I will not return.

What a splendid, quirky little find in small town Oregon! Located right next to the Wells Fargo in downtown Dallas is this tired little building that houses a restaurant serving delicious selections of Asian food. Doesn’t look like much on the outside… definitely don’t let that deter you from coming in. Once inside you’ll find a brightly painted seating area. Order at the counter off the menu board. Serve your own soft drinks from the fountain in plastic cups/tumblers provided. They have real chopsticks made from ceramic as opposed to splintery wood so don’t forget to appreciate the art on them(see my pic). I ordered the Chicken Yakisoba per the recommendation of the very friendly lady behind the counter. The noodles were perfectly cooked(with just the right amount of al dente texture) and the flavor… the flavor… mmmmm… so good! This place has a welcoming third world kind of vibe. Not in a bad«I’m gonna die of dysentery» way, but in a very cool, «lets travel there again» kind of way. Worth a stop… especially when needing a proper noodle fix.

The food I would go prob 4 stars on, I really like the tempura shrimp with rice and vegetables, but giving a 2 star based on the cleanliness standards. Water cups dusty, spoons sticky, tables dirty, and there was a big hair on my plate of pot stickers, need a health review here unfortunately

I wasn’t sure what to think when my husband and I drove up to the worn-out-looking building, but the woman working behind the counter immediately won me over. She was friendly and personal, and ran things with small-town charm. An example: our meals came out to $ 17.49, and she charged my husband’s card $ 17.50 and offered him a penny because the«9» button is wearing out and it hurts her hand to push it :) I liked the selection, and I liked that my plate included teriyaki chicken, cali rolls, one pot sticker, and one egg roll. YES to variety! Also, we each just wanted water to drink, and we could choose from a variety of cups. She insisted I drink my water from a wine glass :) My husband chose a bright orange plastic tumbler. The egg flour soup was ok. I put some hot sauce in it and enjoyed the kick it added. It was mostly broth though, and I like a little more.(Water chestnuts would be a great addition, for example.) I am always skeptical about ordering sushi from a place that does not specialize in sushi, and even then… But…it was actually very good. Not the #1 cali roll I’ve ever had, but very good. The rest of the food was also very good, obviously made to order, not ahead and served up. It all tasted very hot and fresh. I don’t know how often we will be going to Dallas, it’s not exactly on the way to anywhere(except Kings Valley? Falls City?), but if we do I would definitely be willing to eat here again.

Decided to try again. Went for lunch and tried the sabi noodles? Something like that. Salty. That’s all I could taste. Ate a little, left the rest. Yuck.

This place is a great location to eat at if you find yourself in Dallas. The food is very good. I usually get the Teriyaki Pork and a side of Pot Stickers(gyoza), and I am never disapointed. In response to the review saying they never had a menu brought to them: You order at the counter when you enter. They don’t bring menus to you.

Sorry, Yami, you are still yummy, but I found Sushi To Go in Salem and they seem to have an edge. My last visit to Yami was also a bit of a disappointment, as you stopped serving the free egg drop soup(now it’s hot and sour soup), plus the portions were dramatically lower than before. But that’s okay, Yami, I still love you.

I enjoyed very much everything here. I like that you get free soup too(yes, it was tasty). The noodles were great. Fun small town Japanese restaurant experience.
