Wit’s End is one of the spots I visited this week for the sunset. Rooftop bar with very loud music of a type that I didn’t particularly enjoy(I’m too old, I guess) but the beer was cold and the sunset was lovely. So, they have some spray painted tables upstairs with the Texas flag on them. Except, uh, it’s not. Texas has one blue vertical stripe that is one third-the length of the flag and two horizontal stripes, the upper red and the lower white. The five pointed star is on the blue section. The Chilean flag is divided horizontally in red and white with a third of the top section blue. Seriously. Look at .

First. Beautiful roof top bar and view of downtown. Drinks were also pretty good. I had a cocktail. Pretty sure it’s called peach fuzz? But anyways just stumbled upon this place. The décor is dark, cool and unique. Cool dive bar. Music downstairs was better last night. They had various rappers. It was cool and I enjoyed listening to them. I got pretty drunk lol!

Love, Love LOVE, this place, it has a great atmosphere, the staff is friendly and the a great beer selection. The entertainment it really spotty and strange and adds to the charm. They offer everything from old school D. J’s to burlesque shows to local bands, never know what you will find, but it will be fun.

Cute little bar in Deep Ellum that I stumbled upon while admiring the street art. The beers I had were pretty solid and the bartender checked on me often, but not too much, since I was rolling solo. I look forward to eventually catching a show there.

A lot of Rocc/Metal, a Dj may come thru some times and play hip hop, I don’t mind it, pool anyone?, but most of all the graffiti art going up to the roof top. I’m definitely shooting a video there, so yeah. The drink was kinda lame, I ordered Tequila and OJ, dude gave me two drops of liquor … sad, but over all, its a cool hang out. I smoke my jays on the upside, so no biggie.

This review is based on their fantastic music selection and view from their rooftop of the Dallas skyline. And their dance floor. And cheap drinks. And corn hole consisting of beanie babies instead of corn hole bags. Seriously, what more could a mid-twenties something from out of town ask for? I wish I had spent longer here. Their mid-nineties rap music blaring made for a great night.

While out with friends we walked past Wit’s End then decided to turn back and give it a try. Glad we did. The Guinness on tap tasted great. First thing, however, was to pay a $ 2 cover to get in. I guess this is because there was a band. We weren’t there to listen to the band, in fact we didn’t even stop there long enough for the band to start, but anyway… One of the first thing you’ll notice is the eclectic mix of people and nobody seems to care or be bothered by the fact, which is cool. Since I was out with friends, we like to talk some but it’d be nice to come back sometime just to listen to the music. Wit’s End may make some more«sheltered» people feel a bit out of their comfort zone. Not wanting to offend anyone who goes there, of course :) It was also a good place for«sighseeing»! This is going to be on my «todo» list again once I figure out some bands that I’d like to hear.

Came for the Bang Angels and they were fantastic! The club was nice and open and the stage was super easy to see and be close to. The drinks were okay. Not the classiest in the world, coming in plastic cups.

I love coming here on Thursday night’s. The place is normally filled with people inside and on nice nights the roof deck is a really great place to hang out. Two Tone plays drum and bass every Thursday rain or shine! There’s not to many places you can find playing drum and bass during the week.

So many awesome shows here and just an overall fun spot. Drink selection sucks and yes they serve in plastic cups… but wow the rooftop… it is sexy! Usually a cover for the shows… but hey«local starving artist» right? DnB on Thurs. Jazz and Soul other nights, groovy tunes!

Of all the bars I’ve been to in DE, this has got to be the most boring. Every time I come in there aren’t more than two or three patrons and the BT’S are playing some stupid ass shit on the tube. Music people, music! The BT’S are nice they just need to turn on some tunes. Tall Lone Stars will cost you $ 3.50. Reno’s is still the best deal I’ve found in Deep Ellum. This place attracts a similar crowd to Reno’s. Actually I find a lot of the Reno regulars in here. I like the roof top here. It has a full bar and a good view. I just wish they had a bathroom up there. Wits End has some really cool graffiti decoration along with some unique metal art and crazy stuff. They have a make shift food truck at the end of the bar that sells hot dogs, but, I think that’s only during shows. Speaking of shows, this place appears to be more popular for their live music as opposed to a chillax hang out.

Went on a Monday night. Live music on the rooftop and great views of Dallas skyline. The Shiner on tap was flat, but everything else was good. Wasn’t a huge crowd, but it was a very eclectic crowd. The inside is very grungy and lots of cool writing on the walls. Bathroom lights flicker, but I thought it added to it. Would recommend.

This is one of the places to discover new bands, especially local or surrounding area ones. I’ve been here to enjoy metal bands both with and without a cover, so it really depends on who is playing that night. However, if you’re not going to stay downstairs and just go to the patio, they won’t charge you! The stage isn’t that big or highly elevated, but the sound is still great. It’s not going to melt your eardrums so don’t worry about having them shot along with a vicious hangover the next morning. That’s the worst kind of hangover! The patio is a must see on this street. It’s very open and spacious with a casual bar in the back blessed with a hot tatted up bartender. If you’re feeling antisocial, you can just drink your beer and try to toss a bean bag into a hole all by yourself(don’t know what that game is called because it looks lame to me anyway). From observing others, the patio is also a good place to smoke and watch the bumper to bumper traffic below. There is a separate room downstairs behind the main bar with pool tables and a few arcade games. I wouldn’t say this is the place to get your lavish $ 12 craft cocktails and show off your new Gucci bag. One, anything nice of yours is probably going to get stolen. And two, as long as the drink can fizzle your brain you’re not going to get some cocktail with a gold plated orange rind in it. It’s not the shiniest rock on this street, and yeah, it’s crappy and sick on the inside; but Wit’s End is everything I could ask for from a bar in Deep Ellum: drinks and metal.

Great location awesome roof top patio best in Dallas. Great beer selection. Cheap Texas beers upstairs. Bar tenders suck they think they are above you. Owner is to busy trying to impress his friends. The old man is cool tho but haven’t seen him in a while he was one of the only reasons we keept going back. They seem to charge a ridiculous cover every night you will spend 20 bucks before you start drinking. This bar has real potential just gets ruined by bar tenders, and young owners trying to impress each other, Other bars are more than happy to take my money.

It’s official. I’ve got a new favorite live music hideaway. Hello there, Wit’s End. You had me at my very first visit last Tuesday night. I love to dance and experience talented local artists, and this proved to be the perfect spot to do both. Tucked away in the heart of Deep Ellum, I wondered how I could have overlooked this place since it popped up. In any case, it’s kind of shabby but somehow that adds to its overall charm. We didn’t explore the rooftop but next time I will because I heard it’s a must-see. We were too busy being wooed by the friendliest bartender around(Corrin) and swept away by two ridiculously talented, soulful, upbeat rockin’ bands. Wit’s End is a perfect summertime pick if you’re looking to step out on a random weekday. We danced the night away all night long! Parking is a pain, but it’s totally worth it if you’re looking to experience a laid back, upbeat time in a fantastic local Deep Ellum gem.

What shall I say? It was… different yet interesting. This time they had pirates everywhere. Like full grown adults dressed up and playing pirates as in pirates of the caribean type of thing. A bit weird but fun.

Hmm. I’m not a regular at the former The Bone, but if I’m trying to impress anyone with a rooftop bar, THISISTHEPLACE! Rooftop Bar = 5 stars! Last time I was up there, Serious Pizza had some big event where weirdos were lined up down the street. In a minute, a freakin Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle comes walking out! i guess that was the event. Costume was excellent – looked exactly like the movies… UNTIL the dude in the costume eventually took it off and was walking around sans head, gloves and feet. Hey idiot – you have to stay in character when you’re in public! Next some drunk dude started harassing cars that were creeping through the construction right there, until a DPD pulled up! The crowd cheered when the cop got out and pointed to the hood of his patrol car! Haha! It was a great show, Wit’s End Rooftop! The dude resisted but eventually«spread em» and then two more cops pulled up. It was pretty cool – the good guys came and took Drunky away! Great fun that day at Wit’s End, with a front row balcony seat and refreshing beverages. You should definitely stop in here. Especially when Black Swan is swamped and Twilite is packed, etc.

Honestly this is a cool dive bar. It’s not the little while in the wall, it’s a good size spot with a rooftop patio. I stopped by to play a couple games of pool on a weeknight. It wasn’t their busiest night of the week, but the vibe was good. When the weather is warm, make sure you go upstairs to see one of the best uninstructed views of downtown that deep ellum has to offer. Enjoy!

I happen to stumble on Wits End by simply walking by and hearing some great beats flowing out of it… at every end lies a new beginning and what lies here is a bar with Soul and depth enriched by dreams and passion. Perfect combination of the Urban Neighborhood bar and fashionable throw back furnished with pool tables and pinball machines. What I see here is not just a bar staff, but a Family, a group of people that fueled this location with Blood, Sweat, and Tears… and I am sure laughter as well. I just get that feeling when I am sitting on that bar stool amongst strangers who drink as friends. Everyone came along to get along, the Spirits and Music were flowing… The bartenders kept going, Oh how I love Deep Ellum once the old thread of chaos and grunginess Hell. Get that drab dark feeling of the dungenuss out of your head. I am here to say that Deep Ellum will not lie dead. I am not forecasting that I am that prophet, I’m just an old soul with polly pockets and wockets. That man was once here in 1932. That shit aint me I am not calling Jesus the king of the Jews, I am calling what I see and it’s business’s like these… that will re-light that wick it’s time to pay respect and dues to that Land of Deep Ellum that will forever be… This Hood is not Sick. Well then, don’t for-see me reciting this in the Mokah Coffee shop That’s not what I do… Just wanted to get my point across in this review and If I am at my Wits End… this Bar is where I want to end up and be me, to share a drink or three. That’s how I come through OMG I hope Mrs. Brown(My 9th grade creative writing teacher) See’s this… My 2nd period class really paid off!

While at a bar across the street lamenting the businesses in Deep Ellum that have closed their doors over the past few months, I learned that there was a new spot opening that weekend. Right across the street: How convenient! I had seen the new signage on the front, and noticed that the building had seemingly recently received a super gaudy paint job, but didn’t know what type of animal it was. My first guess was comedy club. Wrong! It’s a bar(shocking, right?). I guess this location used to be called ‘the bone’ but I’d never made it in there. They had a cover(was $ 8 on their first Saturday), and live bands were playing on the stage, one at a time. There is a pretty good sized bar and an ample patio area on the roof with bar-height tables and chairs. Drinks are about $ 4 each, so it’s not the cheapest spot in town, but they are served in big glasses by a friendly bartender so you could certainly do worse. Cover on Fridays and Saturdays has been reduced to $ 5. Worth it? Probably not unless you’re into whatever band is playing. It would be really nice if there were some way they could allow you to drink in an area apart from the music(i.e., the roof) and not charge the cover, or perhaps have insane drink specials to make people not feel ripped off to pay a cover for music they don’t even want to listen to. Update: As of the end of August 2013 they now have a food menu. Our group tried a bunch of different items — the burrito, the margarita pizza and the foot long hot dog which comes in a white box and is covered with all kinds of stuff that people who like hot dogs like on their hot dogs. The prices ranged from $ 8 – 12 and the food was really good. All of the items were spicy though, so if you’re not someone who can eat spicy food, you may want to ask the bartender whether they have anything for you. The burrito was ‘asian style’ I suppose — it came with a salad under the burrito, and a cup with some asian slaw. The burrito itself contains whatever protein you choose(our table got one chicken and one tofu), some spinach, and some kind of spicy sauce that is almost barbeque-y in flavor. Overall, I’m happy that Wit’s end now serves food, and since I like spicy, I will definitely be back to eat there again.
