This is my second appointment to see Dr El-feky. I signed in at the required 30 min prior to my appointment. The first time around I waited an hour passed my scheduled time(not including the early 30 min check in) to see the doctor! It’s unheard of for me to wait past 20 minutes! This time around, I approached to check in ladies to see when I would be heading back after 15 min passed my scheduled time. They didn’t even record that I had checked in. My blood began to boil! Within 5 minutes after I pointed out their error, I was taken back for the preliminary data collecting. It’s now 45 min from my appointment time. If the Dr is not in here in about 10 more min, I’m out the door. My time has value. This is ridiculous! !!! Update: At 11:20 I left a note in the room regarding their unprofessionalism & went to find the nurse. I walked by the doctors office; he was in there, alone instead of seeing his patients. .who have been waiting & waiting. I requested a refund immediately! The girl at check out asked if I wanted to reschedule. I almost died laughing at the absurd notion I would go through this hell again. It was bad enough doing it twice!!!

The wait is extremely long. you go from the lobby waiting area to the patient waiting room. Half the time you can hear him in his office doing whatever instead of tending to a patient. Bedside manner-what bedside manner. He does a bunch of listening instead of really trying to understand what you have and dispute the symptoms with you. Extremely arrogant! Clearly is either burned out or no longer has passion for what he does. Appears to be very smart. Several appts have been cxl by his offc all the time calling you to reschedule – very interesting. Now he is at the point where he pawns patients off to the PA-not sure about you but if you are looking for the best of the best why would I want to pay to see your PA???

Neurologist #3. TheTaper, who I saw after TheBrickWall & TheDrugDealer. After waiting a good 45min past my appt. time for TheTaper to even show up he sat there while I basically recited everything that I had to write down on the medical forms I turned in to the front desk. He had me do the normal neurological exam stuff, like making fists & flexing muscles, holding arms in a position while they push on you while saying, don’t let me push. Again, I was told that I had basically gone from a fairly healthy person to having 6 conditions & that Chiari has nothing to do with it. This is frustrating to me as I read every day on my support group that neurologists don’t know anything about it & that the one test, the cine MRI, which I need to test for spinal fluid flow… I can’t find a doctor to order it for me. The first thing TheTaper said was that we needed to re-evaluate my medicines & streamline them. That, my friends, was the best thing I had heard in 4mos. Ok, lets go down the list: The Aviane, birth control pills. They help with the hormonal migraines that I get & help keep me partly sane. No need to change. There are 3 ways to treat migraines, blood pressure medications such as the Nadolol(that TheBrickWall prescribed), epileptic medicines such as the Lyrica & Keppra & Topamax, & anti-depressants such as the Lexapro. The first thing he tells me is that Keppra & Lyrica are in the same family of drugs & there was no reason to have me on 2 drugs designed to do the same thing. Um, DUH! Then, instead of having me pick one of the two, he took me off of both(Tapering(Hence, the nickname) the Lyrica down to 1 pill a day/week & then quitting) & added Zonegran because unlike the Lyrica & Keppra, Zonegran has been associated with Weight Loss. Then he increased my dosage of the Lexapro & told me to start taking it in the morning instead of at night. He said that this drug could possibly be causing the sleep issues that I had been having. We decided of the 3 abortive medicines, that I would stop taking the Axert & the Zomig & that he would give me a new prescription for the Relpax. The Nadolol is a Beta-blocker(blood pressure medicine) & I was supposed to taper myself by reducing the dosage by ½ for 2wks & then again by ½ for 2wks before stopping. This is the drugs that I had tried to quit cold-turkey in the past & that I had horrible side effects from doing so. The Flexeril was one of the drugs that I had stopped taking, mostly because I was physically unable to function on the dosage TheDrugDealer had me on. Instead of taking 3 pills/day, now I am going to start taking 1/night. This will help with the neck & shoulder pain & will also help me sleep. The Topamax & Naproxen were drugs that I stopped taking back in Oct, as I could not function while taking them & were the culprits that caused my fall & subsequent knee surgery 2mos ago. The Triglide(high triglycerides) & Nexium(acid reflux) are both medications that I had started since my diagnosis. Both of these medications treat conditions that were apparently caused the wonderful cocktail of drugs that I was on. Hoping as I tapered off all these drugs, I will be able to get rid of these two also. The Mobic is the anti-inflammatory drug I took leading up to & just after my knee surgery. I have been off of it since I had my stitches out. The Vicodin(aka Hyrdocodone) was one of the two drugs that TheDrugDealer prescribed for me that I was actually allergic to. She also attempted to give me a cortisone-steroid pack back in Sept. It for this reason I would like to give a heart-felt thanks to observant Pharmacists who inform patients about possible allergic reactions, especially BEFORE the prescription is filled & paid for. The B12& Folic Acid. These were two vitamins that were showing deficient(along with a high white blood cell count) in my first blood test after taking the Topamax for 7wks. TheTaper said he would run a complete panel of blood tests when I go back in 6wks for my follow-up. Depending on those results, I may get to quit taking these 2 vitamins & the Triglide. Lastly, he told me to go buy wrist braces for both of my hands to help with the numbness in my hands that is caused by the carpal tunnel. I bought some & tried to wear them while watching TV I couldn’t even stand to leave them on for 30min. I asked about how my arms & hands go numb when I sneeze, cough, yawn or stretch, to which he basically said… that it was possible that was a symptom of the Chiari, but to just learn to live with it. This frustrates me since, aside from my migraines, the pain inflicted on my arms & hands when I cough, sneeze, yawn or stretch is horrendous & the exact symptom that caught my Chiropractor’s attention, which led up to my diagnosis in the first place. After TheTaper realized that after streamlining my drugs my condition went from a Walking Zombie with a Migraine, to a Stoned Migraine… he referred me to ThePawn.
