I’ve been eating here off and on for about a year, both breakfast and dinner. The food’s really good(I agree with one of the other commenters about the asada de puerco), the people are friendly, the home-made tortillas are excellent — it’s a nice, small neighborhood restaurant. Comfortable and good, not fancy.

Asada de Puerco. I came here 3 times as I was staying near the restaurant for a spin. The pork is tender and has a very nice flavor to it. The rice and beans are also infused with a nice homemade taste. The chips and salsa were decent and a spicy, I like to use my chips to scoop up the pork and forgo the tortillas. They have a nice watermelon agua fresca every time I came. The prices are reasonable and the flavors are bold, and comforting.

This is the best Mexican food in Dallas. Forget Taco Cabana or Cristina’s or any of those chain places, or even any Mexican restaurants north of the river, this is the real deal. Virginia’s is a little place on Hampton just north of Clarendon. Absolutely no one there speaks any English. Even when you tell them you don’t speak Spanish, they keep speaking it to you. Just point to the menu and smile and you get what you ordered. The tortillas are made fresh, the meat is good and the spices and seasonings are perfect. They keep your drinks full and they keep the homemade chips coming. On top of it all, you can get extraordinarily full and happy for under $ 7. If you have people visiting from out of town, consider going down south to Virginia’s, its great.
