I wanted to try a fried pie. I went to the counter and waited a few minutes, as the worker looked busy. I said hi good morning. No response. I waited a little while longer. The employee never turned around to look at me, so I’m taking my business elsewhere and NEVER going back to thus business.

Really fried fried pies. The lemon was amazing. However I found myself just scooping out the lemon filling cause I couldn’t take anymore of the breading. I could eat a gallon of just the lemon filling. Yum! The pecan was pretty good. Wish they had more flavors out. I looked in the freezer and they had pumpkin. Too bad they didn’t have any of those out. I can’t imagine what a frozen fried pie tastes like. Anyway. It was just ok. Nothing spectacular.

I have never been a fan of fried pies — or anything deeply fried for that matter. However, i had the chance to experience these pies from a BBq shop and boy am I sold! The Blackberry pie was so delicious! Unfortunately, I live a good five hours from these pies, but when I return to the Dallas area, i will definitely stop in!

Yummy. Cherry pie and cream pie are delicious. Big Swine Dining sign out front, almost missed pie shop.

My office bought a bunch of these for a meeting ‘snack’. I didn’t stop to talk until I gobbled the first one. Worth it! Delicious. Why 4 stars? Because they were big– I wanted to try different flavors(I had the Apricot) but couldn’t feel the space after one. I wish I could try all of the flavors.

HOTDAYUM. Like for real. Look, I don’t even have to really say more. Get the fried pecan pie with a side of soft serve ice cream. Don’t check your blood sugar or the calories or you will ruin the moment.

Prett – y good. I walked through Deep Ellum to finally seek out the Coconut Cream Pie I saw on Dallas_Foodie’s IG. I’m a fan of CCP so if I see it, I’ve got to try it. I found THEORIGINALFRIEDPIESHOP in the back of Baker’s Rib joint. Arriving shortly before they closed, so I didn’t expect to get a fresh pie. All the fruit flavors were available, apple, Blackberry, Peach!, etc., but they weren’t fresh. So I took it home, threw it in the oven for 8 minutes on 375° and it came out prett – y good. Flaky, but lacking the crispiness from a freshly fried pie. As I ate it, I knew I was missing something… ***ice cream. On my next trip, I will be prepared. I assume if I show up by noon, I can still get one hot and fresh. Otherwise, its too early to be eating pie a la mode. Next flavors to try, Peach, then Blackberry. They offer frozen fried pies for half the price. I’ll try them and update this post soon. (+) Great, cheap dessert. It’s always good to have a place close by that offers coconut cream pies. Strangely hard to come by. (-) Not fried to order, so the quality SLIGHTLY suffers. Taste: 8.5 Quality: 8 Presentation: 6 Service: 9 Cleanliness: 8 Aesthetics: 6.5 Comparative: 8.5 OVERALL: 7.79(C+)

Great Crust — not too oily(it is by the way FRIED), stays together and flakes just right. The filling is perfect too. My fave is the coconut. You can buy day old frozen pies for half off I think. The only negative is that they are all the way downtown Located in the new location of Baker’s Ribs in Deep Ellum.

If I could sum up the Original Fried Pie shop in one word it would just be WOW! Not only do they make fresh pies daily they really mix up the flavors, allowing for a party in your mouth. Growing up, I always thought fried pies were those fruit ones that come in the wax paper packaging at Albertsons. Ya. not so much. Big thanks to The Original Fried Pie Shop for showing me the TRUE ways of pie-age. Of course, this shop has the traditional fruit pies including everything from pineapple to peach to cherry and blackberry. Ontop of the fruit pies there are also the savory pies which include pulled pork, brisket(a personal favorite-my life will never be the same!!) and also chicken and vegetable which tastes like the best pot pie EVER. This is the perfect comfort food spot!

Do you like Fried Pies? Dessert as well as meat fried pies? This is the place, made to order or you can buy them frozen to take home and fry up yourself. Brisket Fried Pie for lunch was a very tasty. One is filling for an average appetite, so I’ll have to go back for dessert another time.
