I had the baked Brie sandwich with wild rice orzo salad. The sandwich was too sweet for me. It had too much jam. More cheese might have balanced it out better. I did, however, like the crunch of the walnuts. I was not a fan of the wild rice orzo salad either. It was also too sweet. I was expecting lunch, but it felt like I had dessert instead.

I never get to visit this place anymore because I don’t work right next door. But given the opportunity I like to pop in. Their coffee is rich and smooth, a real comfort. What I look forward to the most are their French macaroons which are usually out by the end of the day. Craving in satisfied! I wish the staff were friendlier, they looked annoyed when I walked in. That whole«another one?» Look.

It’s not everyday you go to mail a package and unexpectedly stumble into the cutest little coffee/sweet shop ever. You see, the Hospitality Sweet is situated inside an opulent, renovated 1930’s building. Downstairs is a post office and upstairs are several floors of ritzy apartments. Right in the corner of the downstairs lobby sits this gem. In a perfect life, I would live in one of the apartments above and have brunch at the Hospitality Sweet every day… its just that dreamy. I ordered a coffee and a macaroon, and apparently my order was late(I didn’t notice) so they gave me a free cake ball pop. It was the best I’ve ever had. They also offer healthy dishes and drinks– such as chicken orzo salad and Holy Kombucha. Whether it’s just for a sweet treat with coffee, breakfast, brunch, or lunch– the Hospitality Sweet is sure to satisfy.

So, the location in a historic post office in downtown Dallas is probably more interesting than the quality of the food here. It is a quaint café located just inside the entrance to this building. It is a convenient walk from many buildings near the Arts District. Good mixture of soup, salads, soups, and of course prettily decorated bite size desserts. Fascinating to find these old buildings in our backyard and if I had not been working downtown, I probably would never had the pleasure of discovering this small gem. Portion size is fine for girly appetites but prices are a bit high. I ordered the chicken orzo salad, it tasted fresh but needed some seasoning. The fococcia was stale though. Staff are very friendly and call ahead ordering is available.

I recently started working downtown and heard they have gluten-free options, so I gave it a try. Though their cake pops aren’t gluten free, they offer gluten free bread as a substitute, and I haven’t had any issues with their salads. It’s a cute little space, and the coffee is great! My only complaint is that it’s a little pricey for sandwiches/salads. This is most likely due to the +$ 2 for gluten free bread, so if you’re getting gf, be aware you’ll be eating a $ 12 sandwich.

Really cute place! However, I have mostly worked with the catering side as my husband and I have placed orders for cakes and macaroons on a few occasions. My experience with this side of the business has been pleasant. When I’ve submitted an inquiry or request via email, I got a response rather quickly. And usually directly from one of the owners too. The cakes and macaroons are really tasty and of course really cute looking. I would definitely recommend them if your are looking for a good bakery in the Dallas area.

With their diverse, vegetarian friendly food menu The Hospitality Sweet is a cute little, fresh spot! I tried their vegetable frittata with salsa and a french turtle macaroon. The frittata was a perfect combination of firm and soft, loaded with veggies and had the mildly spicy salsa verde to go with. The turtle macaroon just melted in my mouth, just perfect! The service is excellent and they made me feel very hospitable, sweetly hospitable to Dallas!

Located right in an old yet still active post office, Hospitality Sweet is a quaint little place nestled in the heart of downtown. It’s right in front of the St. Paul train stop and across the street from Thanksgiving Square. It’s also a lunch hot spot amongst the downtown workers so beware of a line from 12PM to 1PM. I unfortunately am not a huge fan of their cupcakes or their cake pops. I’ve had better at other bakeries nearby. However, I am a fan of their lunch goodies especially their sandwiches and soups. The baked brie panini is delicious and despite not looking like a huge portion, it easily fills you up. Biting into crunchy bread and getting bits of cranberries and almonds is an burst of flavors and texture. The melted brie is an excellent addition to hold all the flavors together. Since the cranberries and caramelized almonds can add a punch of sweetness, I recommend getting a side of their daily soup for a healthy helping of something savory and salty. Their chicken tortilla soup is also awesome. They have plenty of carnivorous and vegetarian options. They also have a plethora of sweets in case you need to satiate a craving. It can get crowded and is bustling during busy hours. You can place a to-go order online to skip and/or avoid the lunch rush. Make sure you come with an empty stomach and remember to get a hearty cup of soup!

Came here for coffee and lunch it was 5 minutes prior and they refuse to take our order then people behind us were able to put in lunch order. Really! Lady on the phone was perhaps manager she was packing cupcakes and while in line waiting she walked right into us, as if we were in her way. Overpriced coffee, rude service. Not coming back. Building is neat very historic.

The location is very cool. Setup in an old historic building. The suite is kept very clean and is well lit with all of the huge windows. The French Macaroons are outstanding, as well as any of the cake pops. I recommend a visit just to try them. The coffee here is also very good with several espresso options. The problem I’ve had on several visits is the attentiveness to the customer. I’ve stood at the register to order for several minutes without a hello or greeting. I’ve stood at the register today asking for an iced coffee only to be told that they were out while the employee texted on her phone the whole time. They have a high amount of traffic in the morning and around lunch so they have more staff to help with the influx of customers but not in the late afternoon. 3-Stars for the incredible macaroons. 1-star for service.

This is a quick good lunch go to place. But make sure that you order online before you go — if not you will wait in line for about 10 – 20 min to just place an order! even if you are going in a group, have everyone pre-order and pick up there are plenty of places to sit with a group. Order the roasted butternut squash salad with panko crusted chicken strips — it is so good — it is for the most part healthy! also the soups are fantastic — you don’t get a lot but for the most part they are satisfying and fill you up. I have never tried the sandwiches but can only imagine they are pretty good with the potato chips.

The Hospitality Sweet is quaint, fun, and fresh! You wont be disappointed well maybe by the price, but once you try their yummy food you wont care! Since I work two buildings away I have had the pleasure of trying many items on their menu. Both the Turkey Chili and White Bean Chicken Chili are delicious and full of simple flavors that warm your insides. My favorite go-to is the Turkey, Bacon, and Avocado sandwich that comes on a glorious Ciabatta roll. My other go-to is the Turkey, Bacon, and Havarti wrap. And i always order with their kettle chips which are always super crisp and crunchy. The Grilled Ham and Havarti Cheese Sandwich is something I have ordered a few times which is excellent, but I strongly dislike the texture of the sandwich because of the stringy-warm prosciutto. But if you love prosciutto then you are in for a treat! The orzo is also very amazing! I have ordered coffee just a few times and it has been yummy each time. I have also tried several of their cake pops and macaroons which are all VERY delicious. The location is also so very quaint located inside the post office which creates a beautiful ambiance while you eat. They have added lots of tables and chairs since word has spread. They have done a really good job trying to keep up with demand as well. They now have a little pick-up station for to-go online orders and where you can get some sweet treats without waiting in line. In fact, for special holidays like Valentines they have a table full of sweets that you can pick out and they package up nicely for your sweetheart. I imagine they would do this for Easter and Mother’s Day too. If you dont want to stand in line then go early for lunch or order ahead. I would call-in versus order online because the online ordering seems to have some glitches and it’s hit or miss if you can order. Also, the staff is ALWAYSSUPERFRIENDLY. You just cant help but love this place. If you dont know their story look em’ up. You will just love them that much more!

I just started working around the corner from this lovely spot. I’d had my eye on it for about a year, reading some favorable Unilocal reviews and seeing some nice pics. Lo and behold, it’s everything I thought it would be and more. Tucked away in an old(but still functioning) downtown post office(which I hear has nice, renovated apartments I hear), its quaint location is only matched by well-made sandwiches, salads, desserts, and coffee. The price prevents me from going more ofter(about $ 9 for most sandwiches and a side), but it’s worth an occasional splurge. Also, get the wild rice and orzo salad for your side… it’s always incredible.

Cute little spot inside the building with the post office in downtown. It’s right across the street from our building so we decided to try it out. The sandwiches were yummy. The cookie was eh ok. It was kind of pricey for what it was but the girl working the register was nice and friendly. It’s a good spot if you are in the area and want to grab lunch but don’t go out of your way to seek it out.

The sandwiches are magnificent. The soups are amazing. The salads are light and tasty. I highly recommend this place to anyone and everyone in the downtown area looking for a great place to get lunch. I have yet to try their famous macaroons. Once I return to Dallas to work full-time, I will be attending this place as often as I can. Highly highly recommend the food. Staff and atmosphere is awesome too. Come before 12:00 lunch rush or after 1:00 to make sure you don’t wait in line forever. Additionally, you can call ahead to get the order right when you walk up. Everyone knows this place is good so don’t come right at 12:00 without ordering ahead. You will be waiting for your food much longer than necessary. Thanks Hospitality Sweet for awesome food. See you again soon.

This is a great choice for downtown lunch during the week. I went on a Friday and the line didn’t wasn’t too bad — less than 7 people in front of me. There’s lots of seating both inside the store and in the building. I especially like this place because it’s one of the healthier downtown lunch options. There’s a good selection of fresh salads and sandwich options, and for those who were really good for lunch and got something healthy can treat themselves to a delicious dessert. I went with someone who had a gluten allergy, so it was a pleasant surprise Service was fine, but do recognize that if you order at the front and sit down, your meal will take ~10−15 minutes to get to you. This is not a grab and go sort of place(unless you call ahead and pick up), so be prepared for a moderate wait. I got the turkey wrap on a whole wheat tortilla with creamy havarti cheese. I paired it with a side of fruit. There was a raspberry reduction in the wrap which was a nice touch — it added a tangy flavor which complemented the wrap nicely. My friend got the turkey sandwich on gluten-free bread. Not sure if this is characteristic of all gluten-free bread options, but she remarked that the texture of the bread seemed a bit off(at least compared to normal bread). But she didn’t have much experience with gluten-bread prior so it may be true of all gluten-free breads.

I have walked by The Hospitality Sweet twice daily nearly every workday for a year. Today was my first visit. The café is tucked inside the former Old Post Office in downtown Dallas. It’s popularity is evident by the long lines and«call ahead» ordering station just outside the door. [ Note to future visitors: Yes, the rest of us standing in line will think you are weird if you call and order your food while standing in line. That defeats the purpose of calling ahead. ] It’s really nice to see so much life inside this lovely building. Even though it’s primarily converted into residential units, I always felt that the inside was filled with memories of how busy it used to be, back when everyone came to collect their mail at the endless row of clerks’ stations. Thanks to Hospitality Sweet, a small measure of that liveliness has returned to the building. Anyway — the food. I ordered the Caesar Club Sandwich(grilled chicken, bacon, arugula, sun dried tomatoes, Parmesan and Caesar dressing on an Empire Baking Company ciabatta roll) with fresh fruit on the side(it comes with kettle chips, fruit or wild rice-orzo salad). I also purchased a chocolate-Nutella macaroon for dessert. The sandwich: Wonderful. Everything tasted fresh, without being too heavy handed on any one ingredient. I liked that the chicken and bacon were chopped in perfect bize-sized pieces, neither too large(risking a dreaded bite-and-remove-half-the-fillings scenario) or too small(aka — the pureed ingredient approach). Each bite had a pleasing mix of fillings. Yum. The fruit cup: Wonderful. I judge restaurants by the fruit cup. If a side of fruit arrives chock-a-block full of honeydew melon, I know that the place doesn’t really appreciate its customers. Honeydew=fruit cup cheapness. The Hospitality Sweet didn’t disappoint. Not only was there no sign of horrific honeydew anywhere, it was a cup of perfectly sweet(how appropriate!) strawberries. Each strawberry was cut into bite-sized pieces — not chunks, not slices, but one simple bite each. Greatness. The macaroon: The choice of macaroons changes daily. The one I really(really, really, really) wanted — Almond Joy — was already sold out when I got to the register. Bum-mer. They hadn’t had time to update the chalkboard. I ordered the chocolate-Nutella instead(the staff told me that I made a good choice, which somewhat made me feel better). It was delicious. It was tender, but had a bit of chew when you took a bite(does that make sense?). It felt like you were eating something firm yet tender. Anyway, it was a nice little finishing sweet to the meal. Even though it wasn’t Almond Joy. I guess that just gives me a reason to go back. Now I feel the need to visit for breakfast, particularly after looking at fellow Unilocalers photos of their lattes! I’d also think this would be a good place to eat with friends, but probably not the best for a lunch meeting if you need quiet. The building is old, so there’s a lot of echo when the crowds start to build.

In a double entendre of old quirky meets ritzy in the luxury condo building of a 1930’s Post Office I ascended the small grand stairs to find — it’s still a functional post office, with little decorative transaction windows, marbled floors and a prominent «In God we trust» plaque. I had biked by on Saturday and saw their chalkboard sign out on the sidewalk, however they arnt even open on the weekends. On a Friday, the sign wasn’t out and I started to worry, but like Wonderland — the HGTV Easter pastel green shelves with wainscoting cupboards displaying a wedding cake service, the cooks in white chefs coats cutting strawberries, macaroons sparkling with fresh juice in a airy white dining room made my wings flutter. A scruffy but preppy pretty boy brought me my coffee($ 3) which was clean and caffeine strong if perhaps not the most complex in flavor. The macaroons are what really cried out to me, and the thoughtful lunch menu looked fresh and healthy. So I went back a few days later to get some macaroons as a gift. Sadly, they only had three left so I got a box of cupcakes for a co-workers last day at work. They were heavenly. I had the strawberry, pink cake and a luscious real icing that was oh so perfect, fluffy, creamy not to sweet, no fillers — the vision of a model 1950’s homemaker. My friend gooed like a baby at her chocolate cupcake with chocolate chips dotted in white frosting. I sadly left the rest to her own devices — sea salt caramel and banana with pecans. She was guarding them with her life. I’ll be back for that strawberry one for sure.

Disclosure: I have visited Hospitality Sweet 1 time. Hospitality Sweet is a deli/bakery located downtown in the US Post Office. They have offerings of baked goods, coffee, and light lunch fare. My Overall Rating — 4 Stars(Atmosphere, Service, Food, Return) Atmosphere — Nestled in the US Post Office building is one of the cutest, brightest places I’ve seen. Just the walk to the Hospitality Sweet was cool, as you walk past Dallas’ past. Inside you’ll find a nicely appointed shop. Very bright and inviting with ample seating outside. It reminded us of a shop we would find in NYC or Chicago. It’s a hidden pastel gem nestled in Dallas’ grey downtown concrete jungle. 1 Star. Service — There is only one check out machine so lines may form. For our visit we had no problem. The staff as friendly and helpful and it wasn’t too busy. We didn’t get any recommendations though which we like when the selection is so large and drool worthy. Behind the counter we could see each person was busy with his/her own task. I haven’t been when they are busy so not sure how the service is during those times. 1 Star. Food — While they serve light lunch fare, we focused on deserts, namely their cupcakes and macaroons. The salted-caramel cupcake was great. The frosting has light, creamy, and paired well with them most chocolate cake that wasn’t too overly sweet. We definitely like them better thank Sprinkles. Their macaroons were very good. The flavors were excellent, including their Nutella & salted caramel. Biting into the macaroon gives a nice crunchy outside with a soft, chewy middle and creamy filling. The macaroon’s feet didn’t always match in size though, and were thrown off my colors. Our Nutella macaroon was pink. Tasted good but confused us. Iced coffee was good but not memorable. 1 ½ Star. Will I Return? — Sort of. I would like to go back to try the latte and lunch. The main obstacle is location. I would love to come more often but am not in the down town area. However, if you are located downtown, this is a can’t miss place. ½ Star. My Unilocal Rating Scale(Sum of all parts): 1 Star — Atmosphere — Is it a cool dive? Perhaps an upscale place? No matter the type, atmosphere plays a big part and I’ll give a star if I like it or thinks it has great charm. 1 Star — Service — You can have a great meal with bad service. But that’s also what can make a five star joint drop to four. It’s important to the dining experience that service is great and on point. 2 Stars — Food — I’ll award up to two stars for the food, since this is the main reason we dine out. Sometimes the extra star is given for value, but it’s really all about the food. 1 Star — Will I come back? — If I know for a fact I’ll return, I’ll give this a star. A place has to make an impression for me to return. Each Category can be given up to 1 star except food(2 stars) because I consider all these categories important to the overall dining experience. I will sum them up to provide my final Unilocal score.

Yum and Yum! This is just what downtown needed. An adorable bakery-style lunch spot nestled inside of the old downtown post office, The Hospitality Sweet draws quite the lunch crowd. Although the store is fairly small, with less than 10 places to sit, they have several tables outside and go through the line quickly so you aren’t waiting forever for your order. The food was much better than expected and everyone I was with was happy with their order. I had the turkey pesto sandwich with a side of orzo and wanted it again for lunch the next day. The only bummer about The Hospitality Sweet is that there are no bathrooms! Hard to imagine since its in a giant downtown building, but definitely something to remember before running out of the office for your lunch break! Can’t wait to go back!
