We cane here for drinks after a Mexican dinner. The atmosphere is laidback, it has a cool music and good vibe, not pretentious by any means, and it has a wide mix of different type of people. Though we never actually tried the food they serve here but the drinks are quite good, and has moderate price. Happy hour is quite good too. If we are in the area again, we will definitely go back again.

Ok so I’ve been gone awhile. The bartender today was basically really rude and I wish I knew why. Every time I come back here I don’t get the hostility… I tip and I’m polite. What about that deserves rudeness?

Great place to grab a drink. Great bartenders. Good prices and strong drinks. They have a basketball goal out back and a rooftop patio. Good outside place to grab a drink when the weather is nice.

Horrible place with horrible customer service. Was yelled at for no reason by the bartender and was very rude to my friends. I’m sure the drinks are great and all, but I prefer places that are actually nice and respect their customers. I’ve heard nothing but great things, but this bar will never get my business or my friends ever again. I guess the bartender just dislikes random people for no reason and then chooses to humiliate them in front of the entire bar, screaming included. Do not recommend one bit.

The Grapevine Bar is as good as it gets for what you see type place. This place has multiple bar areas to make it easier to get your drink. Nothing fancy, not a cocktail bar. We came at night and there was hardly any crowd, then again, it was also a cold thanksgiving week type night. The inside area is dark and seedy, with shades of red. The back area is an open area with a basketball court. That is not what you expect to see in a bar. No one was playing, but it looked ready to be used. Also from outside, you can climb the stairs to a outdoor second floor patio; a great little nook to hang in peace with friend and enjoy your drinks. Could also be a great place when a bit warmer out! I am just visiting, not a Dallas native, so was only here once, but I always find I enjoy mostly the divey bars in NYC cause the crowd is pretty chill and drinks are served pretty quickly as there is nothing fancy. Most people get a beer or a vodka soda. Though I love a good margarita, you can tell this is not the type of place you should order one from. I ordered the frozen drinks, and well, watery and sugary is the way to describe it. I would have given it a 4 stars for being the embodiment of laid back and dive, but as we exited we saw the bouncer eating pizza and joked about wanting a slice and he became incredibly angry for no reason and offered to punch my glasses in. Well, not exactly the reaction we were expecting for complimenting the fact that the pizza smelled great. That said, we walked away with a very bad experience form what seemed to be quite the chill night. My suggestion put a nozzle on the bouncer, that type of people are what keep costumers from coming back. Not sure if he had a bad day or was just two pumped on steroids, but his attitude and comments were definitely uncalled for. Hopefully, me next visit will be better. You should bring someone you have been dating a while here, not a first, second or third date type place, you can be a bit classier than that!

Staff and guests alike are friendly, service is quick, drinks are reasonable, atmosphere is divey and cozy at the same time, and they have a basketball court out back along with laid-back patio seating. Quite possibly the least douchey Uptown bar.

I’m a sucker for dive bars… this is a dive bar, and I loved it. Note the 5 star is that it’s «As good as it gets!» for a dive bar, not the best bar in the history of ever. The drinks were decently priced. The atmosphere is dark and kind of cocoon like. Bar tender was the right amount of friendly. It was cold the day I came here, but the outside looked like it would be a great place to hang out in the summer. I’ll be back!

Bartenders are RUDE, drinks are poured horribly, and they block most pop artists on the jukebox. If I’m paying to play music i want to play whoever the fuck I want. JRs and Roundup are much better bars to frequent. Don’t come to this shit hole

I always have a good time here. Strong pours, cheap prices, and friendly regulars. If there is any group of folks you don’t like then don’t come because they are all here having a good time together.

Any place in Dallas where they make frozen adult beverages and everclear come together in a magic and harmonious gathering is OK by me. I’ve been coming here for years, but only thought of reviewing this gem after I looked at my Unilocal Bookmark list(AKA my bucket list), and wanted to see what I could check off. The people here are great. You can meet a wide variety of eclectic people from all over the metroplex. This place is small at first glance, but eventually it opens up to a fun oasis! I’ve never had food from here, and quite frankly, I don’t care! The drinks are enough to keep me coming back for more!

Sunday Funday. Cheap drinks, very eclectic feel, good tunes on the jukebox(but no hip hop? And kinda expensive per song) but all in all if you wanna walk away feeling nice without breaking the bank, this is your spot. I won’t be there all the Sunday’s lol, I’m someone’s mom now so I have to check that, but I would def go back after brunch with my ladies!

Cool dive bar with a cool patio. The patio has a basketball net, so yes, people can just pick up ball and play. You can also order«food» from next door through the window facing the patio — although the food options are not the same as the ones I saw in the pictures. No more arepas, unfortunately. In its place are some overpriced cheesecakes and sandwiches, but they do have savory ones. It would be good if the food options improved. But as far as a bar go, the drinks are great, and affordable. I had a mixed drink called the Cumberf**k and one was enough to almost knock me out, surprisingly. No bar minimum for credit cards, thankfully.

A great atmosphere with amazing, cheap drinks. A must stop during Sunday Funday! I’m only giving 4 stars, because the gentleman who usually is working the front bar, always seems to have an attitude OR just hates his job.

I came here with my friend last Saturday night while I was in Dallas for a visit. She had not been here before, so neither one of us knew what to expect. We actually intended to just stop in for a drink before moving on to somewhere else, but we ended up staying here for the remainder of the night because we were having a blast. The space itself is great. Plenty of room to hang out indoors, but the star is the giant patio in the back. There were plenty of tables and everybody seemed to be totally cool and friendly. I don’t think you could really pin down the demographic of the crowd as it was truly all over the place. We had some really hilarious conversations with complete strangers. I would take this over a stuffy, pretentious crowd any day! There is also a basketball hoop, which struck us as odd, but it’s a unique feature and it was amusing to watch people play. Watch out for the flying balls! Drinks are pretty cheap, and I mean it when I say they have a strong pour. We were warned of this earlier in the night by the person who recommended that we go. Unfortunately I was celebrating my birthday and didn’t take this advice; I definitely paid the price later on… but oh well, it made for a memorable night(or, more accurately, a not-so-memorable night)! Thanks to the Grapevine, my new friend Alejandro, and whiskey for a 26th birthday that was nothing short of debaucherous.

The Grapevine bar is awesome! Drinks are cheap as hell and you get your money’s worth for sure. We went on a Sunday afternoon for pregaming before a concert. We asked the bartender for the drink specials and he rattled off like 4 – 5 specials and we were by the jukebox so it was kind of hard to hear. My girlfriend never knows what to order at bars so he decided to make her a drink to see if she liked it. She thought it was delicious. I ordered a standard Jack and Coke. The bartender then asked us if we’d ever been here and we said he haven’t. He then gave us our drinks on the house, which was really unexpected and awesome of him. We went for seconds on our drinks and I watched another bartender pour my Jack and Coke. No lie, she poured 75% Jack and only the top quarter of it was filled with Coke. You’re definitely getting a ton of alcohol here at a great price.

One of my FAVORITE bars in the Dallas area! My friend recommended this bar to me and since then it has been our«go to» bar to end our weekend nights! It is not that far of a walk from the Oaklawn strip of bars and clubs but the location is a little isolated. You wouldn’t expect it to be as big as it is inside upon looking at it either. Walking inside you might get the feeling that the place needs a little bit of cleaning, and the furniture looks a little cluttered and random and maybe a little run down. However, I believe that is the look they are going for and you learn to love it for what it is! The place has character! The bartenders are nice and social when they can be(they place draws quite a crowd some nights). They have your average drinks, I usually get the Texas Long Island(don’t judge me!), draft beers, bottled beers, liquor shots, but they are also open to whatever floats your mixed liquor drink boat! But enough about the bar at the entrance! They have a bar in the back patio as well! There are many small round tables under the covered bar patio that you and your significant other can sit and bond at, and adjacent to the area they have big wooden round tables where you and your big college group of friends can be loud and obnoxious at. THEYHAVE A BASKETBALLCOURT!!! Ok, so maybe not a court exactly, but they have a basketball net next to those tables that is open to anyone. And I mean anyone!!! Seriously, I’ve played with so many random drunk strangers it’s definitely a fun and interesting experience. Alright so I mentioned before that the place draws quite a crowd some nights, and I know what some you must be thinking. What if I don’t like large noisy crowds?! Well don’t worry because right above the covered patio there’s an upstairs patio!!! It’s much more private and personal where the music is softer and pretty strings of light hang above the area. The tables are big enough to have a group of friends and the employees are nice enough to come up and check on us every now and then! It is personally my favorite part of this bar. Give this place a try! 5 stars for me!!!

If this isn’t your favorite bar… well…you haven’t lived yet! Drinks are inexpensive, the bar tenders make the best refreshing drinks. Chill inside by the bar or pool table. Or head outside to the beautiful patio. Up for some basketball? You’re in luck!!! Court in the patio are. Great way to challenge someone and make new friends. Go! Go now!

Great dive bar. Good drink prices and awesome atmosphere. First thing I noticed when I walked in were the mishmash of different comfy armchairs and that it was actually cold in there. I’m a big guy on a small frame, and when I drink I get hot so thank God for the thermostat master. Also, the jukebox was jamming. Outside there’s a covered patio and a backyard with a bunch of picnic tables and a basketball hoop; watch out for the balls. Since this was my first time at the Grapevine, it’s only expected that I got hooked to the basketball hoop, but I’m sure there’s an awesome little niche somewhere in this place for you to kick back and relax. Crowd were all pretty friendly, maybe mid 20’s with a few older people. All in all, I’d recommend them as a last stop place to decompress after a night of heavy drinking and uptown crowds.

After years of hearing Grapevine lore, I finally made it to this infamous Dallas bar, and I must say — it did not disappoint. This is dive bar in the nexus of the Oak Lawn and Design District neighborhoods with Turtle Creek just a skip-hop away, but it doesn’t necessarily feel like it. Honestly, the vibe is hard to pinpoint: it’s very Dallas without being like Dallas at all. It defies definition, or maybe that’s the Grapevine’s $ 4 sangria’s talking. Yes. I said $ 4 sangria. It came in a big glass and was savory on a hot evening. There are fabulously cheap drinks at this bar. The deck on the roof is amazing. It felt a bit like being in a tree-house over a busy street. Actually, the entire bar is a bit like a tree-house, but with a bad-ass patio, and a bunch of Peter Pans and grown-up kids. All it really needs is a big sign above the door that says«No Douchebags Allowed». Great little bar. Methinks I may have a new hangout.

Arguably the best bar in the universe. I love this bar. The scotch that the bartender poured… two fingers of scotch? It was like two fists of scotch. Pool table, couches, cigarette machine, outdoor patio, rooftop deck, basketball court, great people… If I lived in Dallas I would probably lose my job and get divorced as a result of this bar.
