Finally a place where the hot dogs aren’t just store bought microwavable buns and meat. If you’ve ever had a hot dog from a stand, these are definitely way better. Perhaps not to the point where the sausage is homemade, but the toppings and poppy seed buns do make me reminiscence of my time in Chicago. We got the jumbo hot dog and bratwurst, and we thoroughly enjoyed both. I would come back for a hot dog or two in the future.

Understand that this is a basic hot dog stand, Chicago-style. It is a great place to take a Chicagoan for their hot dogs at a reasonable price. I honestly was surprised to see how many Chicago-styled hot dogs they had and how true they are to the Chicago name! Their sausages and buns are pretty much all of the Vienna Beef brand, which is what is typical of a standard street-fare Chicago dog. It’s by no mean«gourmet»(I’d think Luscher Red Hot is more«gourmet» than this place), and not even for Chicago(since you can find places there that make amazing sausages and buns to elevate their typical street dogs into another level that would make Chicagoan über-proud). But the stuff they have in the menu is impressive, which is the main reason why I’m bumping up the rating to 4 stars. Besides the ubiquitous Chicago dog(which you can find in many cities across the country), they have the less-common Maxwell Street Polish dog, which is the second most common hot dog style I’ve seen in Chicago. I ordered both, and they’re pretty much true to their form. Of the two, I think I preferred Chicago, but it’s a close call. They also have bratwurst dog and the German dog, which I ordered on my second visit. They’re very similar, with the difference being the sausages — bratwurst being the white-ish pork sausage and the German being beef. Of these two, I preferred the German. Just tasted better with the mix of toppings, in my opinion. They also have the Italian sausage hot dog, which I’m tempted to try next time. The lady who took my order mentioned that the most commonly ordered hot dogs were the Chicago dog and the chili dog(hello, we’re in Texas). But if that’s true, then I have no reason to doubt that their chili dog is good, if people have been continuing to order it. But even so, their hot dog menu is quite large, and I’m leaving some other styles unmentioned. I’ll most likely come back to try some other types. And Chicagoans would be happy to know that this place also serves Italian ice. Parking is plentiful, and there is a drive-through. No indoor seating, but there’s a picnic table out.

The Dog Stop combines two of my favorite things: fast food — hotdogs, and Japanese food. Great hotdogs, a tad bit overpriced, but I still manage to have it occasionally. Love their seaweed and mayo. It can get a bit too crowded and people start pushing, which is annoying.

Drove in and bought 2 corn dogs that came out way too quickly. I should have known. Got them home and they were a soggy, greasy mess. They are clearly store bought and clearly microwaved. Aweful.

Fantastic hot dogs in a great little drive-thru. We tried five different kinds — Chicago, Chili, and several others. Every single one was dynamite. If you’re craving a hotdog, or just need a quick bite, roll by this place. The service is quick, and the food is hot and delicious.

A little over a year ago this expatriate Chicagoan discovered the dog stop. Now I visit weekly for the best Chicago style dog in Dallas and decent Chicago style Italian beef. Just found out that a dispute with the landlord threatens to shut them down at the end of September. Call the Hillcrest Village office TODAY to try to keep the Dog Stop from getting evicted 972361‑0800

This place is just perfect at what it does and they absolutely cannot close it! Look down a few reviews and you’ll see the phone number for the leasing company — give them a call and say that we want this lease extended and want these folks to stay in our neighborhood. Little businesses like this really matter to the quality of where we live. And as an aside the Maxwell street dog is so delicious… Happy happy dog

No complaints. Great food for a great price. I ordered the #2 and the #8, polish sausage and chili dog for 7 bucks. Dogs were great and piping hot. According to the sign, they are closing at the end of September because of a leasing issue. I pray they don’t because we need more authentic Chicago eateries here in the DFW. The grilled onions were so hot they burned my mouth. That’s a good thing. Awesome place!

SAVE the Dog Stop! Call the Hillcrest Village office TODAY to try to keep the Dog Stop from getting evicted this September 2015: 972361‑0800. And for my food review: fortunately, Dallas has recently improved the overall hotdog dining scene with many new restaurants. So why not give these folks some hotdog love too? They’re one of the originals, and really work hard(working out of a tiny parking lot booth) to deliver the most authentic Vienna beef Chicago hotdog this side of Chicago! And because we’re finally experiencing some heat this summer, why don’t you treat yourself to a snowcone to go with that!

Great little dog spot that I had yesterday 7⁄18. I have to say the Chicago had everything I wanted in a dog. It must be good because the line got really long after I got my order. I definitely recommend this spot because the quality of the dogs are excellent and really goes down well. Reason no 5 star because this place may be moving or closing down soon. There fighting to stay open so hopefully they get that together do I can eat lol

Not really a review just info. Read recently that this place will be gone as of September I believe as the shopping center owner has cancelled their lease. guess I need to get over there and try them quickly!

Most of these type places have gone by the wayside however this one keeps operating in the parking lot of a free standing shopping center at Arapaho and Hillcrest. It is drive through for ordering and getting your food p;us there is a walk up window and a picnic table out front if you want to «dine out». Hot dogs are good but expect to pay more than some of the other fast food places. Kind of reminds me of the days when I got a good hot at the ballpark. If you’re looking for a change from other fast food places then this could be the stop for you.

Great place ! Great hot dogs! Really nice owner. Was there today and saw a sign saying they were closing in October due to lease issues. They won’t renew their lease and want to tear the building down. The owner said they want her to move into the strip mall but cannot afford the rent. So maybe after October they will be closed for good., :(Always very consistent all beef hot dogs.

This place is actually pretty good! I’d passed by it several time and always wondered, so I finally tried it. My order consisted of one chili cheese dog(no onions) and a custom dog with Swiss, a pickle spear and ketchup. I don’t know what it is about pickles and Swiss cheese from hotdog stands, but they’re always so good! They seem different that what you buy in the store. The Swiss here is a bit softer than normal, creamy and has a great flavor. They serve 100% beef dogs, which are pretty delish, but much more firm than the average pork(or shall we say mystery meat) dog. I kinda prefer the mysterious ones to be honest. Regardless, this is a great little place. Reasonable and quick! I’ll definitely come back when I have my next hot dog craving.

I miss this place… so sad it’s so far away from me, but I guess it’s a good thing because I don’t need the extra fat. lol The hot dogs here are delicious and love this little shack. I don’t have much to say except, GOTRYIT!

Awesome little gem. I tried both their chili cheese hot dog(minus onions and mustard), as well as their old fashioned cheeseburger. I was not disappointed. The guy at the drive through was super nice«here ya go! Oh, you’re gonna LOVE it!» Pretty adorable. And yes, it was super delicious. They also have shaved ice!

I lived across the street from this tiny shack for something like two years before I finally broke down and tried it. Whoa! I was amazed at the quality that came out of this tiny little drive-through shack that is little bigger than an old Fotomat building. The dogs are quality Vienna beef, and they are served on nicely-steamed poppy seed buns(whether or not you choose a Chicago style dog). The relish, should you choose that condiment, is the bright green style that might intimidate you if you’re not used to it, but I immediately loved the taste. Go here! It’s good! (Just don’t get in line in front of me!) ;)
