Wonderful service! The interior is very nice and clean, dim lit with candles. It did seem a little nicer than the typical Thai restaurant so my friend and I felt very underdressed in our hoodies, t shirts, leggings, chacos, etc. I ordered the Tom Kha noodle soup, no spice. It was so filling and the soup had the perfect balance of lemongrass and coconut milk. It wasn’t overflowing with mushrooms like a lot of places, but it did go a bit overboard with the onions. And the downside was that the onions were mostly the undercooked outer layer skin, so hardly edible. My friend ordered the chili sauce rice entrée with beef and said it was good. It was about 60% veggies though. I’m still on the search for my favorite Thai place, so who knows when I’ll come back here.

The food here is fantastic. I’ve had the spring rolls, crab Rangoon, summer rolls, pot stickers, Tom yum chicken soup, green curry, pad Thai, pad see eew, and spicy basil noodle. Everything was delicious. Favorites are the Tom yum chicken soup and the spicy basil noodle. You can’t go wrong here. I’ve only ever gotten food to go, but the girls who work here are so sweet while I wait. Everything is so fresh. Best of all, is the chicken. I’m very picky about my chicken, and it’s always fresh white chicken breast.

This place is a find. We have been here many times and I haven’t found anything that wasn’t delicious. The Tom KAH soup with or without noodles is to die for. Fabulous Currys, delicious and edsmam like you’ve never had; it is seared with garlic and soy and is absolutely fabulous. the noodle dishes are equally delicious. It has a great atmosphere and the owner is so personable she talks to people at every table. Love this place!

Authentic dishes, wonderful staff and a comfortable, welcoming atmosphere makes Thai Opal a must-visit restaurant. After multiple visits and sampling numerous offerings on the menu it is apparent that the owner and staff are as passionate about the preparation of their dishes as they are about their service. Each dish is prepared in the traditional manner, seasoned, sauced and spiced perfectly. The soups are excellent, flavorful broths with large portions of vegetables and meats. The atmosphere is casual with a contemporary flair. Entrees are healthy portions and authentically reflect the flavors of their indigenous regions. It’s currently BYOB, so feel free to bring your favorite libation along for the ride. The prices are reasonable, the portions generous, and the staff and service exemplary. Thai Opal delivers an outstanding dining experience and should be on your short list of must-visit restaurants in Dallas.

Thai Opal was my Thai craving go to. But a few days ago I wanted to order some food and the person on the other line was making it so difficult to take my order. It was like she was making an effort to not understand my food order. I decided not to order that evening. The food is good but I was disappointed in the service. Too bad. Now to find another favorite Thai restaurant.

This is the first Thai food place I’ve eaten at since coming to Dallas, and it is the place I keep coming back to(even though they don’t have my favorite dish — beef noodle soup — which says a lot). Their Tom Yum is AMAZING!!! It closely rivals any phở or Thai beef noodle soup I have ever had. Also, their Pad See Ew is the bomb — it has this sweet spicy flavor that they nail right on the head. I have not actually dined in as of yet, but I have had them deliver and ordered pick up and both yielded experiences that were«higher than expected». First of all, when I ordered delivery, they gave me a 45 minute window… imagine my pleasant surprise when they showed up at my door 15 minutes later. The second time they delivered, they literally took my order 30 minutes before closing … Which is an incredibly convenient cutoff time. When I went in for pickup, I was pretty amazed at how clean the restaurant was. Not a typical hole in the wall, dive feel(even though I am not knocking those places — I am certainly not one to avoid a place because it is a dive). It was a nice surprise though. I loved the lighting and atmosphere here. I look forward to dining in here in the near future. The servers are always incredibly nice and sweet, food is prompt(never more than a 10 minute wait time). Also, don’t forget to pick up a cup of Thai Tea — it’s pretty amazing and not overly filled with whip cream like others. The real reason I am giving them the 5 Stars though is their awesome ability to cook at ideal spice levels. I am a girl who likes my food Spuuuicey. Level 5 spivey all the way. My friend likes medium salsa at best. My other friend thinks that tomatoes in a can tastes spicy. When we ordered the 5, 2 and 0 spice levels, respectively, each was relieved that it came out perfectly. That is an extremely important part of Thai food for me… so I love that they know what they are doing when it comes to their peppers and seasonings.

Best Thai restaurant in Dallas. I know that’s a bold statement to make but I’m going to stick by it. I’ve had Thai food from many different restaurants in the DFW metroplex and this place hasn’t been topped yet. My favorite dish is from here is Drunken Noodles. Their takeout is also delicious. A lot of places will have good food in the restaurant, but poor quality takeout but this place is definitely not one of them. I’ve actually moved from Dallas but still compare this place to every Thai restaurant I go to. They are very fast too, my meal is usually ready 10 – 15 min after I order. I went recently over winter break and was happy to find their food was still as fresh as alway. Anyway great service and delicious food, I will always recommend this place to people

My hubby and I ordered delivery from here last night. We both got the Tom Kha noodle soup. It was delicious, but it wasn’t the best Tom Kha I’ve ever had, but good nonetheless. The only complaint I have is that they said it would take 30 to 40 mins but it actually took an hour and 20 minutes. Will probably order from here every now and then.

My girlfriend and I have been ordering takeout from Thai Opal for over a year now; our Beef Spicy Basil Noodles are always fantastic, and the delivery persons are always so nice and prompt. Having said that, this review is actually for our first dine-in experience last night. We were in a rush because we needed to catch a show downtown around 7:30; so around 6:15 we called Thai Opal and said that we would arrive to eat around 6:30 and that we would bring wine. The hostess was very sweet and sounded excited to take our reservation on such short notice. To our pleasant surprise, when we arrived at 6:30 she had already set our table with wine glasses and had even filled our water glass with ice and water! Then, when I requested that we be out the door by 7pm so that we could catch our show, she obliged and our order was out within 5 minutes. The service was so prompt and the waitress hustled so hard that my girlfriend and I had a few extra minutes to sip our wine and chat. In addition, the restaurant itself is very cozy and comfortable. The booths have pillows to lean back on and my girlfriend made a comment how tasteful she thought their Christmas decorations were. Overall a great experience, where we gained much more value than what we paid.

This is a gem of a restaurant. The food is excellent, the ambiance is lovely, but mostly people who work there make it a pleasantly welcoming establishment. The kitchen offers quite a variety and range of dishes. Very nice to support such a local business.

My go to Thai spot in Lake Highlands. Menu highlights include my favorite spicy basil noodle, with options of ‘heat’ offered — for the spicy inclined, ‘spicy’ should be sufficient! Other stand outs include a very respectable chicken satay with peanut sauce, as well as pad Thai. Very consistent delivery, with friendly drivers.

Had lunch today at Thai Opal and have to say i was impressed. Place was spotless and the two ladies seemed to take great pride in cleaning up hastily in-between services. The place was bright, clean, and tastefully decorated. The place was empty when we arrived except for another couple. Service was spot on and our server quiet attentive. Coming to the food, we ordered the tom yum soup, chicken spring rolls, and basil fried rice chicken. Out of the three things we ordered the soup comes in first… flavors were very refreshing and really lived up to the mark of what is expected in good thai food. The spring rolls however was lacking any sort of meat and seemed rather a doughy greasy mess(I would avoid this) The fried rice was definitely a hit and again quiet standard but lived up to the mark on all counts. All in all a good spot to hit that thai craving even though it wasn’t anything spectacular, i will be visiting this place again and it’ll probably be one of my regular spots in rotation.

My spouse and I were looking for a good place to eat in Dallas on a recent trip and came across this gem. It was fantastic! We were treated very well by the waitress and overall the service was very good. We ordered the crab rangoons which were delicious and the Penang curry which was also very good. Overall, we loved our experience and thought the food was fabulous. We will definitely go back when we come back to Dallas next month.

From the moment you set foot in the restaurant the staff takes great care of you. I love the elegant and relaxing ambiance. You are surrounded by candlelight and cushy pillows! We were also treated to hot towels before our meal, first class! My husband ordered the duck curry(AMAZING). I’ve never been a fan of curry but I could not stop eating from his plate! I ordered the sweet and sour chicken(YUM)! I had the best experience eating here and I wish I could eat here everyday! It was the little attention to detail that made this little Thai place special. If I could give more than 5 stars I would!

My fiancé and I have made it our mission to hit up as many Thai joints as possible in the Dallas area. This one takes the cake. First off it’s BYOB but that is far from is greatest quality. The staff is very welcoming and friendly and service is always great. I get the same thing every time — Pad Kee Mow with chicken. It is a religious experience. Try it immediately. We have come to Thai Opal for everything from birthdays to Tuesday nights because we’re craving it so bad. 5 Stars.

Another delivery place in Lake Highlands! We were excited to try it out, but it wasn’t as great as some of the other reviews make it seem. We ordered chicken satay, lard na with chicken, shrimp summer rolls, and the beef salad. The chicken satay was great, juicy, curry and yogurt marinade, and peanut sauce. Great sized portion and we ate it quick. The lard na with chicken was a little odd, in both taste and delivery. The noodles were in a separate container from the sauce and everything else. I’m not sure the point, but the noodles became a cold blob and were very difficult to re-incorporate into the dish. The summer rolls were a standard lettuce, shrimp, and glass noodles in rice paper. They would’ve been good, but there were giant mint leaves inside that made them nearly inedible. The beef salad was also disappointing. The menu doesn’t mention lettuce, just beef, cucumber, tomato, onion, and cilantro, so I confirmed before ordering it was more salad-like with lettuce. When it arrived, there were more green onions and cilantro leaves than lettuce. The beef was small bits of cold meat, really strange and inedible. Maybe we ordered the wrong stuff, but most of our meals were a miss. Read some other reviews and follow their guidance on what to order, because we certainly got it wrong.

The service was great, my waitress was friendly and attentive. The food was delicious!!! I ordered the spring rolls and chicken Pad Thai. The only issue I had was that I ordered the Pad Thai with no peanuts and it still came with peanuts. Luckily it was not cooked in so I could easily scoop it off the plate. I would definitely return!
